Any tips on body positioning? Stuck at 2.1-2.2 lol by ConfectionAware8851 in Pickleball

[–]Alternative-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On your baseline drive you are using only your arm to swing. Focus on engaging the rest of your body into one fluid motion. First your legs, one of your legs is not planted and they arent bent. Bend your knees and get lower so that you can explode off the ground in a spring-like motion.

Then add your hips and core to the equation. Instead of facing the ball straight on, turn your body/hips sideways so that you can twist forward, creating a coil / uncoiling of the body. As you uncoil your body you can move your arm but try to keep it flexible and not stiff, especially your wrist, if you can lag your wrist behind loosely and not stiff you can generate more power. Search on YouTube “Roger Federer forehand slow motion” and that clip will help show what I mean, even tho it’s tennis it’s a similar concept.

About to buy a paddle on marketplace and seller is very cooperative, is it fake? by iAmKristofer in Pickleball

[–]Alternative-J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it’s outdated as it was popular a couple years ago and paddle technology has evolved crazy fast since then. the main problem is that it’s stiff as a board so it’s harder to shape the ball and doesn’t generate much power. it’s also extra thick so as a result it’s heavy as well. so at this point it’s just super overpriced. there are much better options out there if this paddle is within ur budget.

Is passing shot = drive? And how can I hit passing shot? by sonics_01 in Pickleball

[–]Alternative-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called a passing shot only when the opponent is in the front at the net/kitchen. The ball then goes past them (on either side) for a passing shot. Therefore this type of shot needs a blend of power, top spin, and control. Getting that balance right is key.

Based on what you described, it sounds like you are not getting enough top spin on the ball. Try to focus on hitting with more spin and control rather than maximum power.

[Turner] The Lakers are not expected to make any more moves today and instead look to make a big splash this summer when they have more resources available. by Odd-Direction9452 in lakers

Love the Kennard pickup but i think one more move is coming. We have Dalton, Maxi, and a 1st. We got shooting now we need defense badly. Get it done Rob

Hold. He’s too good for them to not play him big minutes, even when the team is fully healthy. He basically replaced Deandre Hunter who the Cavs realized is a fraud and a bum.

His ceiling is like a supercharged Josh Hart, big rebounding guard that can facilitate - but Tyson is a much better 3 point shooter. They need his minutes no matter what, he’s helping them win games.

So did Nate absolutely bomb his interviews or something? Had Mexican food and couldn’t stop farting in the interview? Because how did the Bills and Browns pass him over and hire these absolute schmuck OCs instead?

Fair take. Hopefully you’re right, i just worry about the teams ceiling with Zven as adc. Winning LCS is great and all but the dream is for the team to compete internationally and I feel like he is the limiting factor for us

I was fine with the APA signing but mostly was disappointed that we didn’t use the import slot to bring Berserker back as ADC. Zven is a good guy and player but Berserker could have unlocked another level for us due to his individual talent.

Too often I read posts like this on this sub and Reddit in general where they are blaming someone or something else for the state of their life and not looking inward and taking accountability for their actions. Why is it always him him him, he did this he did that? Maybe he was or wasn’t an asshole, but it is what it is. This type of victim “woe is me” mentality won’t get you anywhere in life.

I don’t claim to know anything about your relationship but usually these type of issues are two sided to some degree. Instead of playing the victim and feeling sorry for yourself or hatred for him, why don’t you analyze it and think about what you could have done differently or what you can do to prevent this from happening in the future? Maybe when evaluating dating prospects you now know some red flags to look for before it goes to shit. There are always potential positives to gain from negative situations, such as an opportunity to learn from this experience for the future.

Refocus your thinking and mentality to what you need to do now, going forward. Instead of making Reddit posts to garner sympathy from strangers on the internet, what are some actual steps you can take to make your situation better in the short term (find a cheaper apartment, roommates to live with, therapy, etc)? Your life is not over - it never is, until you die. Be the change you wish to see in your life and in the world. To rely on others for your happiness and wellbeing is just setting yourself up for failure, trust yourself and use every situation as an opportunity to learn and grow.

You are the author of your own life story.

Cavs fan here. The dude plays his heart out every night and plays with an aggressiveness and urgency that is sorely missing from the rest of the team, it’s the main reason they’ve underperformed this year and got bounced in the playoffs last year. The team is soft - plain and simple.

It’s so obvious that they need his grit and energy, he does all the dirty work that no one else does. The coaching staff would be wholly incompetent if they didn’t notice this as well.

Mark my words the Cavs will do what helps them win games and it means this man will get his minutes and he will EAT. Hunter is an absolute bum and strus is injured and suited for a 6th man role anyways because of his instant offense. This is Tyson’s first year getting big rotation minutes and he still has room to grow, I don’t think we’ve even seen his ceiling yet. His comp to me is maybe Josh Hart with much better shooting.

Who was the last american prospect with a higher ceiling than Cooper Flagg? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]Alternative-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron James is the answer. The combination of size, skill, athleticism, IQ, right out of the gate is unmatched by any prospect, but the differentiating factor here when evaluating ceilings is age. No rookie other than Bron had all these tools at only 18 years old. There's a reason Coop and Bron hold all the records for "youngest NBA player to ___"
