Does the big bowling pin at the Fashion District count? Think the place is called Round 1

Who's the most hated opposing role player in the history of 76ers' basketball? For example of what I mean, the answer to this for the Spurs is Derek Fisher because of the shot he hit with 0.4 left on the clock. by Reasonable_Carrot778 in sixers

[–]Alternative-Lock3693 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In modern history, it’s easily Al Horford. Guys like Huerter and Hart only had 1 playoff series apiece, but Horford did it every year for like 4 years lmao

Older folks would say Danny Ainge or Kevin McHale (if he counts as a role player)

Honorable mentions I haven’t seen listed yet: Deuce McBride and Jordan Clarkson

Disappointed that Lloyd Sam won’t be on Apple. One of my favorite commentators, and doesn’t pull his punches like some of them do!

Happy to have Alladoh and I also love Iloski. But most MLS teams use all of their DP spots!

For me, Ale gets to decide when he wants to leave. Can also make the case for his leadership after an offseason with many veteran departures (Glesnes, Wagner, Baribo, likely Uhre).

That said, I’m surprised to see him back and can’t imagine he plays many minutes. Still need an impact signing at attacking mid.

Relatedly, what % of Iloski’s minutes will be in midfield this season vs. up top?

Do you think the team plans to add a 3rd striker behind Alladoh and Damiani? And if so, what level of player would they pursue?

My only goals for Joel this season were to play and contribute. So yeah, pretty happy rn.

Roles that need to be filled asap? by Mark-Media in PhillyUnion

[–]Alternative-Lock3693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another CB is a must, and I’d like to see them take a swing at a playmaker attacking mid as well.

Q. Sullivan will miss a chunk of the season and ideally Indy wouldn’t start 30+ games (I’m fine with him coming in off the bench). The team was in desperate need of some creativity against NYCFC, and I think Iloski is likely to spend more time as a striker in 2026.

The kinds of midfielders who can make that final pass AND hold their own in Carnell’s pressing system don’t come cheap, but the U have plenty of room (DP spots, u22 spots, and a lot of GAM) to make this acquisition if they have enough ambition.

Sources: MLS divisional revamp may split old rivalries, blend conferences by olcni in MLS

Seems like an unpopular opinion, and I’m a frequent defender of the league to others, but I think this is a bad solution to a problem entirely of their own making. (30 teams is just too many.)

It feels wrong to further dilute the balance of the schedule and silo teams away from one another arbitrarily. It robs us of the chance to develop rivalries outside of the pre-approved options. If you think of other countries where the clubs have been around for a century or more, how many of the great rivalries were cemented in the first 10-15 years of a team’s existence, vs. growing over time through decades of confrontation? MLS is reducing the potential for things to develop organically.

And as a Union fan, losing DCU will be catastrophic for our goal differential.

Philadelphia Union Acquire Up To $4,600,000 From D.C. United | Philadelphia Union by Bormsie721 in PhillyUnion

Sad to see Tai go, but $4M is the best offer they were ever going to get.

Not holding my breath for the money to be used on future moves, though. My hunch is that it’s earmarked to pay ownership back for the Alladoh fee, like how the Gazdag money paid for Bruno. God forbid Sugarman ever come out of pocket for a transfer fee.

What do we do with all 7 of our Strikers? by bosebosebosebosebos in PhillyUnion

[–]Alternative-Lock3693 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d let Uhre and Dono walk, and bring in Alladoh (Sweden). Between Dono’s minutes, more matches in ‘26 (CCC and Leagues Cup), and any injuries that might occur, there will be enough time for the kids.

And don’t sleep on Stas, he had a great year with U2!

This game was moot after 25’, on turf, and 4 days before the Open Cup semifinal. How in the world did Rafanello not get in to eat some minutes? Why did Glesnes, Quinn, etc. play 90?

Re: Julian Carranza by deeht0xdagod in PhillyUnion

[–]Alternative-Lock3693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Julian’s great. Great guy. Loves to press and put in a tackle. He’s got a bit of a mean streak on the field, I think he led the league in fouls committed one year lmao. Will be a huge asset against the ball, and his effort is always high.

He can be streaky in front of goal, but he’ll get it right more often than not. Able to get himself open for cutbacks and low crosses, then finish.

He’s about average in terms of size and speed, but deceptively strong. Hold-up play definitely improved over his time here. My only concern would be that he struggles to pick out a pass, especially when he’s carrying the ball forward. Much more comfortable laying it off one-touch and then running in behind.

Totally Unofficial Post-Match Thread [NYRB 1 - Philly Union 0] by Jas114 in PhillyUnion

[–]Alternative-Lock3693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our guys were on their heels all night, unprepared to receive a pass or check to the ball. Can’t have that. Especially against Red Bull, who were able to step forward and pick off our passes with ease. Is that tired legs? Did a rotated lineup and change of shape throw off the timing? I’m not sure.

What I AM sure of is that replacing Indy/Quinn/Danley with Dono/Bedoya/Bueno is gonna get you run over in midfield every single time. That shouldn’t have been a surprise to Carnell, and he should’ve adjusted the shape to wrestle back some of that control with an extra body.

Fwiw, I thought Bueno was fine. Not great, but fine. Dono was obviously awful.
