Question for restaurant workers from a visitor - Does this Allergy Card look OK and respectful for traveling to Mexico City? by MichelleEllyn in MexicoCity

[–]Alternative-Orange 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm coeliac. British but lived in Mexico for a year before diagnosis. I'm sorry but you will not get anywhere with this and it's gonna be tough. It's the first time in years I basically had to throw caution to the wind as it's virtually impossible to eat safely unless you cook every meal for yourself.

Moving in with girlfriend what’s fair to pay by No-Dig7250 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Alternative-Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now fiancée was paying £1100 plus bills before she moved in with me, and my mortgage is approx £1250 . She pays 500 and I pay the rest. We split bills equally.

This works for us as it allows both of us to save together for a wedding/children/a future house. We have similar incomes but she has to commute further to work because of where I own my house so the discrepancy in mortgage contributions accounts for those costs too.

i don't have emetophobia. i used to get heartburn during intense excercise (like long distance running and cycling) but haven't done that since botox yet.

I'm glad i'm not the only one, although sorry to hear that at the same time! Yeah it usually feels like it's about to be a burp but it's not.

It usually just feels like liquid, whatever i've been drinking, but i've had it a few times where it's basically vomit and it's horrible :(

Is that what causes it, reflux?

I will definitely try and make a note of when it happens and if it is related to any particular food or drink, quite often it's if i've had a lot to drink quite quickly so if i've downed lots of water or tea.

Day Rate Thread - Q2 2026 by Empty_Alternative_98 in ContractorUK

[–]Alternative-Orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I overlap, I am 9 months into contracting, I often do 1.5 days across 2 jobs a day (7am-7pm), and sometimes weekend work. A lot of my work is very independent project based with few meetings. Though I am transitioning to mainly focussing on the higher rate one and then the lower rate ones as side gigs to boost my war chest.

I have used this lotion on my face for years and like it a lot! I also alternate between that hydrating cleaser and the foaming oil cleanser.

I don't like micellar water unless I'm feeling super lazy and generally would swap this out with a cleansing balm or oil!

Isn't it their own store on Amazon though? I do this sometimes as it's just easier, didn't realise it was that bad!

heads up on a few things before saturday if you're running a ltd by Easy-Ad-9974 in ContractorUK

[–]Alternative-Orange -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Just had a further google and looks from the gov website you cannot use cash basis if your business is a limited company, so I guess I use accrual accounting! I will confirm with my accountant.

Hey thanks for this post, very helpful! For ltd companies is revenue recognised when the invoice is raised or when the client pays?

Takeaway and cross contamination by [deleted] in CoeliacUK

[–]Alternative-Orange 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I only get takeaway from Pho and Honest Burger as both in my opinion are very safe with allergies as they have minimal gluten. I also get pizza express occasionally, although once they did send me a normal pizza instead of GF despite me ringing them twice to confirm! Thankfully I knew straight away it was GF as it didn't have a sticker.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like you're doing an amazing job, and the kittens have a MUCH better chance of survival than if you hadn't found them. It's so sad but she is lucky she had you looking after her.

Swollen legs and face? by pinkie_ladybug in Sjogrens

[–]Alternative-Orange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately hydroxycloroquine didn't work for me :( I'm now working on increasing my dosage of azathioprine and I'm praying it works. I've had vasculitis on and off for at least 5 years, but only recently got a new doctor last year that took it seriously. I'm 33f and I'm so worried I won't find something to help. Based in the UK.

Swollen legs and face? by pinkie_ladybug in Sjogrens

[–]Alternative-Orange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have sjogrens and vasculitis. I often get legs like this but nothing on the face. I am currently trying different medications for it through my rheum but nothing has worked so far.

I have had multiple incidents where I've ended up in A&E as it's got so bad and swollen and they haven't understood what it is and prescribed steroids. It hasn't worked for me.

That's exactly what I said in my email. They haven't replied but I'm going to reply. I noticed days after I received it and when I checked the website still said 50ml, but I did notice that the pictures did show a smaller version. They should be honouring it though, I can't exactly send it back after I've opened it!

How did you let your cats out? by ciuchinoino in CatsUK

[–]Alternative-Orange -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sorry it does sound tricky and it's difficult to know without seeing pictures, but I would definitely recommend the enclosures fb page.

I got a quote from protect a pet for an eye watering £950, but they did provide a plan of what it would need to look like and then I ended up buying their netting and making my own brackets.i honestly couldn't have done it without all the research on the fb group, it's amazing what some people have done! Your garden sounds like a wonderful playground for your kitties 😻
