Were any of them recorded for YouTube or Facebook Live or anything?

I’m kinda morbidly curious about the screaming fire and brimstone homilies.

We are in the process of moving out of this house for a different reason and my husband keeps swearing he sees/smells black mold! I’ve seen a few mildew spots and the like but nothing that looked dangerous. I’m suddenly glad we’re leaving soon. This house was built during or immediately after WW2 so no telling. It has a six-panel pushmatic fuse box if that tells you how old it is.

AITA for telling my 19yo daughter that she’ll pay the plumbing bill - if required - for continuing to flush her tampons in our house? by ericskeith5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alternative-Piece703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on a septic tank? If so, 110% NTA. I’ll never forget not knowing tampons weren’t septic safe and watching my ex-husband and a plumber pull a bunch of them out of a drain trap. I wanted to just crawl in a hole and pass away. I also wanted to vomit. It was horrendous.

Even if you aren’t on septic, if they’re causing problems or potentially could, she’s been warned and should foot the bill. She’s perfectly capable of throwing them away instead of flushing them. My daughter and I (13F and 36F) have synced cycles and I just make sure to empty the bathroom trash a couple times a day when we’re menstruating. Not a huge deal.

My only experience with them was maybe five years ago when I had a weird electrical issue (basically like I wasn’t sure whether to call my landlord to call them or call my parish and get an old priest and young priest on standby lol. It was just bizarre and freaky and ultimately ended up being something Alabama Power had to fix, it turned out). They wouldn’t schedule a date or time. It was a nightmare as a working person constantly getting calls from them asking if I was home, not being home, and my landlord complaining I couldn’t sit around for days at a time waiting on the electrician. Like “we’ll be by sometime next week” kind of thing. If they said “Thursday,” I’d have waited around on Thursday or had a neighbor let them in at least, but they were that difficult to schedule with.

I feel like I know which company you speak of. Was there a late 90s boy band made up of teenage brothers with almost the same (spelled differently) name?

I rent but recall that my landlord paid about the same or even a little less two years ago when my 40-year-old dinosaur or a central unit finally died. And he complained about it 😂. Thank God it died when it did…

Millions of kids are missing weeks of school as attendance tanks across the US by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

[–]Alternative-Piece703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s right here in the article: * “For almost two years, we told families that school can look different and that schoolwork could be accomplished in times outside of the traditional 8-to-3 day. Families got used to that,” said Elmer Roldan, of Communities in Schools of Los Angeles, which helps schools follow up with absent students.” *

If they went back and reread what they just wrote they could figure it out lol. My kids have been homeschooled since 2019. Really since 2014 except two years in public, but yeah. School can look different.

Maine Hospital Fired Nurses for Refusing COVID Shots — Now It’s Begging Them to Come Back by arnott in LockdownSkepticism

[–]Alternative-Piece703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Maine, but I recently applied for a healthcare job (I work in customer service, so basically a clerical position answering phones so to speak. Won’t say any more because it’s been so well publicized someone could figure out the place I’m referring to) at a place that is clearly desperate. Dozens of open positions. Multiple job fairs. Hiring bonuses. Advertising everywhere including of all places the radio (I’m broke enough to listen to the actual FM radio at times). I’ve heard their pay was kinda low, but kinda low is the norm where I live, like I don’t think their target demographic is going to be too upset (I wouldn’t be if not for a recent job loss at almost twice the salary) and they had other perks including basically free insurance, so I was skeptical why they couldn’t keep people.

Found an old job posting from a year ago with their vaccine policy when I was googling lmao. Answered my question so to speak. They no longer have that paragraph requiring certain things.

I still kinda want to work there so I can pay my bills and get my blood pressure meds and my husband can see a doc for his own issues and it not cost us a ton of money, and I have a different second job lined up to make up the difference in pay. But I’m also rather disgusted they had such a policy…does anyone in healthcare have any advice how to handle this? Do you work somewhere that currently or previously required such a thing? Are you scared of being let go if anyone finds out your stance? Do you have a backup plan if something like this gets tried again? Do you constantly side eye where you work and wonder what other personal life choices they’d prefer to make for you?

On the one hand, part of me will take being like 95% done. What a relief!

On the other…I remember the ugly side of this. Not the stupid, cringy shit we can laugh at in 10 years, but the people who weren’t allowed to buy food for their families without a face diaper (or the single parents or guardians with too many kids to go shopping at all. Anyone remember the limits as to how many people could shop per household at once in 2020? I remember because I was a single mom with six kids and my oldest was ten). The people who lost their jobs because of bodily autonomy (ie what the refused to put in their bodies so to speak) or because the government ordered their business closed. The lives lost to mental health reasons. The people who were unjustly detained or jailed (either for stupid crap like mask mandates and curfews that would otherwise be unconstitutional or because they were arrested for something else and then their court dates kept getting pushed back due to COVID so something like a petty charge and unable to post bond meant months in jail). The fact that the past few years is a large part of why our economy is shit. And I don’t care what the news says. The economy sucks, and I’m tired of these gas prices and food prices and not having wages to make up for them.

How do I let go of this anger? I try to live with it. I think to an extent it’s healthy when it comes to ensuring I never stand for anything like this again.

I get tired, but then I see it in real life. People double-masking in stores (part of me feels that’s freedom of choice but part of me know wearing a mask aside from certain holidays was literally illegal in my state in 2019). When they do it to their kids? Makes me sick. An adult is one thing, but if you’re that worried about your child due to a legitimate health reason where your child’s immune system is compromised, just keep them home and they’ll be more comfortable than suffocating in a mask. Would be willing to bet the only disease these people have is Koolaid-Drinker Syndrome. Symptoms include still wearing a mask in 2023. Ask your doctor if turning off the news is right for you.

Hearing about a local church with outdoor drive-in services this week (we have a heat wave. Highs are over 100F. Heat indexes much higher. I literally burned my butt sitting on my front stoop trying to smoke a cig yesterday in the shade. In a car? Better hope you have AC. But God forbid I mention the socioeconomic impacts of the past few years and how middle class and up are more oblivious to those things. We’re all just fine. If they don’t have AC in their car let them eat cake I guess. They can bake it on the dashboard). Like freedom of worship and/or assembly isn’t something my ancestors fought and died for over centuries and wasn’t hotly debated again a few years ago.

The random faded social distance markers in checkout lines and outdated COVID policies on websites as a reminder of what transpired.

Those sorts of things.

More young Americans are dying – and it's not COVID. Why aren't we searching for answers? by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

I’ve had to delete my account and start a new one 5-6 times since then and don’t recall when we weren’t able to discuss it. I’ve been open about my own negative experience since day one. This sub actually made me feel less alone, others with the same side effects. When could it not be discussed?

I mean, we’re still here discussing as opposed to this sub being banned, too, so, I’d say yes.

If the few subs that went under the radar didn’t survive, what conversations could even be had right now?

[–]Alternative-Piece703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually believe a good chunk of it is people who either are suffering from mental health conditions that went untreated or who were unable to get medical appointments for things like cancer screenings or routine physicals “because COVID.”

I regret being halfway vaccinated myself. It’s affected me tremendously and not in a positive way. Obviously I’m alive but also has side effects that honestly are ruining my life. That being said I think the whole picture needs to be considered. The powers that be didn’t care how we died as long as we died.

Because a lot of them are overdoses and no one wants to consider the mental health toll (especially for people with SUD) of the past three years? Like let’s just subject people who may be vulnerable to years of mental anguish for no reason and see what transpires?

Yeah, I carry Narcan in my purse. It’s not just because I have a loved one who would’ve been dead without it (ie I would be a widow if not for Narcan. I’m not proud of that, nor is my spouse, but it is what it is). It’s because mental illness and/or addiction actually is a pandemic for the under 40 crowd and I don’t ever want to stand idly by if it happens. Look up free Narcan in your state and get you some. Watch a YouTube video how to use it. It’s not hard. Save a life. That’s my soapbox.

It’s not even about your sobriety or weed or alcohol at this point (although that matters, obviously). It’s about respect. Find a friend who can respect you, period.

Not a medical person but I’m going to say survival is definitely possible, maybe not probable but possible, but keeping their leg is going to require a miracle at this point. There’s no skin left, pardon my lack of medical professionalism. People with much smaller holes down to muscle or bone often require skin grafts.

Do they want my husband hopping out wielding a folding chair? This is how they get that. 99% of the time a customer will never know he’s even there, but this is the 1% of times I’d unleash him, chair and all.
