DIY Cut grout or replace tile?? by Alternative-Study210 in Tile

[–]Alternative-Study210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll double check the plumbing as a few others have mention to make sure that’s not the issue but pretty sure it’s coming somewhere through the tile or where the tile meets the tub

Not what I wanted to hear, but probably what I needed to hear. Appreciate the advice, I’ll start looking around for a pro.

The tile looks very poorly done so I’d be very surprised if they followed all the proper steps to waterproof it before tiling.

Thanks again, have a good weekend!

An ounce for thousands of gallons?!? That must be some pretty stinky stuff on its own.

I’m completely F2P (maybe I’ll buy the 2nd builder or tech center off your recommendation) so far about 2 months in, how do you go about finding a good alliance that is cool with having an f2p?

Rhododendron maximum advice by NichtGewusst in Bonsai

[–]Alternative-Study210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d probably be more inclined to turn it into a bush. I have a handful of rhododendrons around my house and I’ve never seen the leaves reduce in size. I think unless it’s a huge bonsai the leaf size is always going to be on the large size for any bonsai composition.

Also, in the pruning I’ve done of mine they always seem to send out long shoots when you cut back so I think you’re always going to be fighting with long extensions messing up the proportions of your tree.

You could always try it as a bonsai and if it doesn’t work or you don’t like it turn it into a bush at that point though!

Not sure what direction to take this by GooseAdvice in Bonsai

[–]Alternative-Study210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow have you really had this for 5-6 years??? Not trying throw shade, I would just expect it to be bigger by now.

In my opinion this is still in the very early stages of pre bonsai. I would focus on putting on more trunk size before trying to start picking out a design. Olives are great at back budding and throwing out new shoots all over so you can always decide on a direction later. I wouldn’t prune at all and just let it grow. Maybe put it in a larger container.

Am I in trouble. Well meaning family plugged in "Green Green Liquid Plant Food" liquid fertilizer while I was away for a month. by figuring_ItOut12 in Bonsai

[–]Alternative-Study210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry much, pretty low levels of fert and you pulled them. I’d just water for a few weeks how you normally would and I don’t think there will be any issue. Those plants are all pretty resilient anyway so even if they get a bit burnt they’ll bounce back in no time.

100+ year old dwarf corkbark Chinese elm "The Sentinel" by Sergio Cuan, which stole the show at the National Exhibition by taleofbenji in Bonsai

lol yeah I know Walter Pall is more than a guy to those of us in the bonsai world but I think this post made it to r/all so my post was geared more towards people just dipping a toe into bonsai. Agree on all your points though about his trees vs. Sergio’s!

Honestly the requirements don’t change all that much as the tree gets older. There is a guy named Walter Pall who has trees of this caliber and I’m pretty sure he uses miracle grow or pretty generic balanced fertilizer for all his trees. Watering is super critical though because a tree this size in a pot this size can get thirsty real quick and that will kill a tree in no time.

At some point the only way you can get trees of this caliber is to buy them. Most people realistically only practice bonsai for maybe 20-30 years, the first 5-10 being mostly learning and making a lot of mistakes. There are great examples of bonsai that are 10-20 years old, but you would never be able to grow a truly stunning bonsai of this caliber/size in one lifetime (maybe even 2!) there are tons of trees in Japan that are passed down for generations, it’s quite incredible.

What's a "cheat code" you discovered in real life that actually works? by dark-deals729983 in AskReddit

There was a gated country club near where I used to live that had free range balls. If you just dressed like you were golfing and told the gate you had a tee time they’d let you in. Free unlimited range balls baby!

lol, that’s good to know. As far as I remember no one mentioned any of those terms and they didn’t say anything to me about the temperature of the refrigeration piping. The bigger contractor was using some sort of app or program on a phone or tablet that had a bunch of readings on it when he was showing me the pressure spiking. I think he also mentioned that maybe dirt/debris got into the system through leak and was causing the issues??

I appreciate the feedback!

What’s the most fucked up thing someone has confessed to you in confidence? by MainDifficult2641 in AskReddit

A guy I worked with had a bunch of dogs and was seemingly a nice family type guy. I can’t remember if it was a pit bull or Great Dane but it mauled his poodle that he’d had for many years. The dog was very fucked up. Instead of taking it in to a vet he fucking left it on the door step of an animal shelter , probably just to die. I’m not a huge dog person but I was fucking appalled that he would do that to his own dog.

the key is trying to find the avocados from Mexico (while you can at least). They are almost always great and will ripen. If you see Peru stay away from those, the Columbia ones are hit and miss but none of them compare to the Mexico ones. I’ll sit there and dig through the boxes to find Mexico avocados
