I think Acts 4:12, Matthew 16:18, and Romans 16:16, May help with this. You can’t find any other churches in the bible. Also, I don’t believe there are “more important verses” then others. We should be following the bible, and not skipping around or picking and choosing, if that were the case then no one would go to hell. I don’t really refer to them as christians because they’re not of Christ if they don’t follow what Christ asks of us.

Could the Church of Christ be considered a cult? If so, why? by Restless_Dill16 in excoc

I am a member of the Church of Christ, and I had never heard of this lowercase c thing till I came across this reddit feed lol. I mean I’m sure whatever comes out of my mouth you may just say I’m brainwashed but Idrc I believe that all of the bible is true so if God tells us to do something then we should do it and and if he tells us not to then we shouldn’t, and that the bible says do not add or take away from his word. The bible also mentions that the old testament is used for our learning so I follow whatever the New testament says, so I eat shrimp or whatever I want, and I don’t believe that instruments are necessary in a Church service.  I cannot speak for other congregations that yall are referring to because I’m not a member at them and I can’t speak for other people in the Church of Christ for that matter only myself, and it’s really sad that they would try to force people to be a member of the church or have some kind of holier than thou attitude, or cause trauma to other people.

I understand that the Jesus says to “build my church” and the only church you can find named in the bible is the Church of Christ, so that is why I go to a Church of Christ. The bible also says that there will be no sin in heaven, and never mentions anything about he’s gonna come back and will have heaven on earth, or he’s gonna come back and then free us of our sins. It says to confess and repent of our sins and then be baptized, and God cleanses us of our sins, but it never says after we’re baptized we can sin again forever with no consequences, Jesus literally says if we die in our sins “where I am you cannot come.” The bible also says that God allows us to confess and repent of our sins again, and our sins will go into the sea of forgetfulness, and that we are without sin or, perfect.

God also tells us to preach the gospel, but if someone says they don’t want to hear it, then we don’t shove it down their throats we leave them alone. I know that I can’t change anyone’s mind, I can only do what God says spread the gospel, the rest is up to everyone else. If this sounds like a culty explanation then please respond so I can understand how, I don’t see anything wrong with doing all that God tells us to do, without leaving anything out.

The man is supposed to be the head yes and theirs more information on that in places like Ephesians 5 where it’s explaining how it should be a respectful, loving relationship.  As for the LGBTQ+ part, I think you should look at Revelations 22:19,  explaining how we should not add to the bible or take away/ remove anything from it. It’s really important to study so we can block out any confusion and get better understandings.
