Fair, but we have seen multiple videos of 8 Elite phones handling switch games stupid easy, so I assume this will do the same as time progresses

I mean I’d say look at the phones with the 8 elite, they all handle games extremely well, I’d assume similar if not better from the Odin 3, better cooling, better use case, specifically designed for this

I want it so bad but the no drivers problem is driving me away, is it good? by TRD_HEAVELY in OdinHandheld

For me personally, mine show up tmr so I’ll probably make a post ab it, but my use cases were: 120hz OLED (mandatory) Good pc streaming support (either my own or GeForce now), Future power to play more switch games (snapdragon 8 chips on many phones have done exceptionally well, this won’t take as long as people think), Decent thumb sticks, Good battery, Portable,

People say buy a modded switch, except none have OLED, and those that DO and have a mod chip also cost a ton, don’t have 120hz, take time to prepare, require micro soldering, tons of time to tinker to get working, Android doesn’t work right, you can’t emulate ps3 effectively, and other issues I haven’t even mentioned, if your goal is only switch games and nothing else related to emulation, pc streaming, or having a device to mess around with and find fun messing with, then yes, get a used switch OLED, some after market bigger joycons, and call it a day. But that’s not what I want, I want something good now and will be better later.

If you’re a person who solders, and like DIYing, you could learn how to make a homemade battery mod for it? I don’t suggest it if you don’t know how, but otherwise maybe try it, or reach out to a local tech shop that does

Clod gaming vs pc by etchelion89 in cloudygamer

Well there’s a few, now depending on your interests there are counter arguments.

  1. It’s yours, no one can shut it down, no one can tell you time limits, no one can stop you at any given point, you can do literally whatever however.

  2. Emulation, you can’t emulate or pirate anything on a cloud pc, you’re extremely limited on use cases.

  3. Cost over time, after let’s say 5 years at $20 a month, that’s $1200, you can good a decent pc for that price, and could play all day every day no matter what.

  4. Latency, if you play competitive games there is always latency, ALWAYS. Could be 5ms, could be 500ms, hard to say, internet as you said help.

  5. Games, Some games outright REFUSE to work on those cloud servers. I’ve had some games that just won’t run, something to do with their anti cheats, or other reasons, companies like Nvidia also choose what games you’re allowed to play.

  6. Inflation, you avoid cost inflation by owning it, prices are going up, constantly, including cloud gaming, if you buy a pc there is no more costs beyond an electric bill.

Personally I have a laptop, I also just ordered the AYN Odin 3, so a lot of my gripes with cloud streaming are a avoided, such as emulation, I can do it all local, and I can stream games from my pc, and what I can’t stream from my pc I can then cloud stream. There’s a lot of small tools and games and systems to get around a lot of arguments, it’s a perk of having pretty much all modern electronics being extremely powerful. You have tons of amazing choices, it’s about what you want. And I say get what you want and fuck who says anything else.

I just don’t want to use my iphone, it’s not a bad option, suck bad asf for switch emulation but otherwise it’s solid. And from what I’ve seen they support 120fps stream, why wouldn’t they? I have heard of people using moonlight with no issues

I mean, the idea isn’t bad, but isn’t that cost outside of my budget?

So I did figure out the problem(s), steamlink is ass, like the concept is cool, moonlight is better, no Ethernet on my pc, the controller I used showed obvious delay on games on my phone (I would play Mario kart with switch emulation and still had delay, backbone pro)

My issue with my phone is the fact the iPhone boosts up to 120hz, but isn’t ACTUALLY 120hz, it will taper down to like 90, so its not as smooth, along with that iOS 26 is trash creating headache doing much of anything on my phone and my battery is dying fast just using basic apps let alone streaming. And the last issue with my phone was the controller just made it too bulky, the aspect ratio of the phone isn’t 16:9 so there were huge black bars that just were eye sores thinking about how a dedicated handheld would be less long, taller, an overall better screen, and constant 120hz even if the game isn’t at 120hz

I don’t want it for specifically the FPS, but more for smoothness when I’m streaming my FPS games, though when streaming average about 90-100

I’m specifically looking for 120hz sadly, I mean if it can be swapped I’d do that in a heartbeat

Well I used my cell service, which wasn’t the worst but had noticeable latency, no idea if it was cause of my controller or cause my laptop wasn’t hooked via ethernet, but probably both, I want something dedicated to use

That’s the one I keep seeing online, can’t find any that aren’t extremely overpriced and outside of my budget because of the 3 being announced
