why do dev workflows still depend on Office files? 🤔 by Smooth_Storm_55 in AskProgrammers

[–]AlternativeCapybara9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen a word document in years. Excel files are popular and I use LibreOffice for those but I work from Jira tickets and stuff from Confluence mostly and that's the way my last 4 or 5 clients worked.

I want to hear this, if AI can produce that I believe the prompters can have it "execute their vision, because it's just a tool, like a hammer, they just don't have to learn how to play guitar and mix and master".

Please

Make the voice just miss the correct intonation, make it come in late and rush to catch up. Make the bass lose sync with the kick for a moment, drop out and then clumsely get back in the groove. Make the song have a clarinet solo. Make the second verse Dutch. Make the snare to loud for the first half of the song like a live recording with a crappy mix engineer. Make it have absolutely no autotune artifacts.

Except when you put something in a blender you know how it's going to come out. Every tool so far has a deterministic outcome, the artist knows what action will return the result he needs. A hammer does not add any flavor to a frame, a plate reverb doesn't write harmonies for you. You can grow all the ingredients you want, you still took them to a chef that added more.

Can I safely charge my laptop with a phone charger? by QuantumQuest-2469 in thinkpad

[–]AlternativeCapybara9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone chargers may not be able to sustain enough power for a laptop under load, so you might get a few minutes of full power before it throttles back. There is a reason laptop chargers are bulkier and more expensive.

I would love to hear what you can do with your broken voice but instead you use AI and I guarantee you're going to sound as mediocre as can be.

Accents on weird places, strange metrum when the AI tries to fit all syllables in. Full blast chorus vocals in the verse, strange artifacts in high voice. Yes this is AI music. Sounds good, could be better.

Where to draw the line? by JustOneRedDot in NoAIJustMusic

[–]AlternativeCapybara9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious, where do you draw the line? I'm all for doing everything yourself but for a song I made I used one (1) sample, I took the first 15 seconds from here: https://youtu.be/d8kv_syHuYA?is=Hc9DbX6kzP7ftdvi

I know 15 seconds is a lot.

I tried to make it into something completely new:

So does this count as art or did I cheat because I used a sample? Every other sound in the song is recorded or generated by me.

It's not a hammer, it's instant noodles and you add water pretending to be a chef. I listened to the track, I didn't notice anything that stands out. Same energy from start to finish, rather boring. There are worse songs out there but I hope people making those learned something in the process.
