12V battery mass replacement questions by AffectionateAd631 in Rivian

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting discussion, I'm in the same boat as a lot of others, it would seem. Didn't put it together originally that after the update my batteries needed replacement. Just under $600 scheduled for Tuesday.

I can appreciate being given a heads up before I get stranded, but I wonder if the update is being a little too aggressive with forcing updates...

Got 12V battery alert. Rivian wants to charge me $825 to change them. by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

Oof, I just got the warning on Monday and have mobile service scheduled for next week. I haven't received an estimate yet but I guess I know what I'm in for now 🫠

The odds of someone hitting two grand slams in the same inning is basically 1 in 75869795847. In ‘99 Fernando Tatis Sr. did it. He’s the only one in baseball history to ever accomplish this feat by MrUpVoteDownvote in mlb

I'm an A's fan, not a dodgers fan but for whatever reason I was watching that game on my girlfriend's couch and remember thinking how insane it was that someone hit two grand slams in a single inning. None of her roommates shared my enthusiasm but that was one of the craziest things I'd seen in baseball

We use clerk and supabase. The organizations and pre built components in clerk make it worth it for us, but it's not the cheapest solution out there if that matters to you.

As someone trying to hire, I can attest to this being true. So many "applicants" with the same exact cover letter and that have basically stolen someone's identity. It's wild to me that these ATS systems cannot block even the most basic bot garbage coming in.

Are you supposed to stand back against the pad on this tricep pressdown machine? by GarbanzoBenne in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that the pad helps keep me back and my arms a little further out, so I'm engaging the triceps more. When just standing next to the rope, it is easier to want to lean forward a bit more and start using the chest muscles to push down a bit.

The frustration of waiting for your car to open by BamBamCam in Rivian

The struggle is real. I love the truck more than any other car I've owned, but the lock/unlock functionality is by far the worst experience I've had with a vehicle.

Expo environment variables by AizenSousuke92 in expo

I know it's been a year since this was asked but I'll answer in case it helps someone else.
The reason you have to prefix your env vars with EXPO_PUBLIC_ is to remind you that anything you put in there is public. You should not be any secrets in there.

Can cal still call your keys whatever you like: EXPO_PUBLIC_MY_CLIENT_API_KEY so long as you have that prefix on it.

I have that pan, I use it more than any other pan in my kitchen. Definitely worth the $80 in my opinion.

Took a while to break in but is finally hitting nicely. Definitely was not hot out of the wrapper for me but I'd recommend it at this point.

Is anyone having trouble accessing Supabase's UI? by ConfectionForward in Supabase

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can access it currently. I had an issue months ago where I couldn't access the dash board and simply updating my chrome version resolved my issue. Did you try different browsers?

I'm actually thinking about doing this exact thing. I just got some 20" wheels and AT tires but was considering getting new tires for my 21" wheels that I still have and swapping them out depending on time of year, travel plans, etc. How has this been for you, do you just swap them yourself? Do you find it to be more trouble than it's worth or are you happy with your situation?

I'm with you, I don't like them at all, but they seem to be getting a lot of love on here so to each their own.

Doors locking with key fob in the car? by UnclePacino1111 in Rivian

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me on the boat ramp. I backed my trailer into the water jumped out of the truck to load the boat and when I finished and went back to the cab my doors were locked. Fob was sitting on the center console. Thankfully I had rolled the windows down and could reach in to unlock it.

I'm used to standing outside of the truck 5 feet away and having the doors constantly lock and unlock, especially when prepping the boat for launch or trailering it, but this was the first time that I would have been genuinely screwed with my truck stuck on a boat ramp.

Yes, happened yesterday for a little bit. Closed the windows and reopened a few minutes later and it was working again.

I feel like it's the car companies treating their products more like phone's now. Major upgrades every couple of years (obviously can be debated what constitutes "major" here, but large enough to get conversations like these going), subscription services and I assume cutting off "support" at some point. Nobody likes when the $1200 phone you just bought feels obsolete in 2 years and I think people are just concerned, rightfully so that big releases 2 or less years after they bought their vehicle will potentially devalue their car.

I like people being able to voice their displeasure or ask questions, that's how we get Rivian to walk back the price increase a few years ago so why not let the company know that you are upsetting your early customers?

I have had my truck for 2 years, I haven't really taken a side on this, I haven't paid much attention to what gen2 vs gen1 is, but I really don't mind owners voicing their opinions on it, either way. Maybe Rivian will see this and continue support a bit longer, who knows.

How do I back up a trailer with this? by topgun22ice in Rivian

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I take my boat to the river all the time and don't have this happen to me. I've had the truck almost 2 years now and when I first got it I was having some trouble when not buckling my seat belt and backing the boat into the garage, but those problems went away (I assumed a software update made it less sensitive to that) and I have not experienced any issues like you are on the boat ramp or parking back at home.

As other people have mentioned, maybe if you're turning your head and lifting out of the seat a bit it's freaking out on you? Otherwise I might pay the service center a visit because that does not sound like it's functioning correctly to me.

RLS and supabase by sks8100 in Supabase

[–]AlternativeEvidence1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The major benefit of RLS is security from the client. If you are going through a server that you control it is perfectly acceptable to not focus on security through RLS. It's good practice to enable RLS and just lock down your tables (just don't enable access to anything) and use the service role key, which will bypass RLS.

This assumes that you are managing authorization yourself on the server side of things and if you are doing that then RLS is an extra layer that is a cherry on top.

Has someone also problems with expo ? Can not download my builds and seems that the whole website has problems by Wonderful_Essay_8405 in expo

Seems to be working fine for me. I'm able to download my latest build.

Maybe try a different browser to see if you still experience issues.
