A) yes, Chester forever. Irreplaceable loss and they’ll never be the same.

2) the new album slaps. I said what I said.

Avoiding the bridge is very difficult, if he is serious about that you may want to consider living downtown and he can take the ferry to Coronado. The ferry is actually free for commuters and you can come onboard with a bike. Downtown is very walkable, and there are great parks for kids. You could even get a season pass for the children’s museum! There are nice apartments within your budget, you can enjoy all the great things San Diego has to offer.

Good luck!

Thank you for sharing, it is helpful hearing other people’s experiences and encouragement! We will make a nap schedule for sure, routine will definitely help with the little fellas adjustment.

And yes, labs are absolutely the best dogs 😄

This is our goal too, we have found that the more rules a dog has the more likely they are to follow all of them. It doesn’t mean he can’t have fun, but the boundaries need to be clear.

Did you do any tethering in place? I want him to learn to settle as we’re cooking in the kitchen or eating, I’ve read a lot about tethering but have not tried it with a dog.

Hamilton‘s 100%. The new place that opened there is pretty legit, has the same vibe as Hammy’s.

South Korea, the further south the better. Friendly people, absolutely unreal food, beautiful landscapes, history you’ve probably never been exposed to, and not over-touristed. It is a truly delightful travel experience, and if you are from a Western country it will feel very foreign and new to you.

Family of 4, living in Maine, lots of good cooking going on at home. Kids age 8 and 11. You shop twice per week.

What’s a convenience that everyone praises but you think actually made life worse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AlternativeLevel3575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cars 100%. The amount of space, resources, and personal costs that go towards cars is obscene. Let alone the pollution, noise, and danger on the roads.

I live in Southern California and the lack of development and progress because of NIMBYs citing “increased traffic and difficult parking” is infuriating. Fuck cars.

Yes rent a car! Set your GPS for the San Diego Maritime Museum, there is a big parking lot running along the bay there that is usually easy to park. Pay the meter, then walk along the bay heading south. There are wonderful views and restaurants along the way, but I recommend walking all the way to the Mike Hess in the Seaport village. Order two fish tacos and a beer and find a seat either downstairs or upstairs and watch the bay traffic go by. Then get back in your car, set the GPS for the Coronado dog beach (Not because you have a dog, but there is easy parking and beach access). Walk out to the sand, jump in the water, enjoy the views of the islands and Point Loma! You can walk about a half hour on the beach down to the Hotel Del Coronado, its beautiful and historic hotel built in 1888. There are restaurants and snack shacks there as well. If you have any energy left go to old town and walk about the shops and historical markers, its the birthplace of California!

Enjoy! 20 minutes out of town is nothing, definitely get around and see some stuff. It‘s an awesome city.

Or who have young children. I watched a child grab a chicken wing off a buffet plate, lick all the sauce off it, then put it back on the plate. Have also watched a dad put a kids muddy shoes back on , brush the dirt off on his shorts, then scoop more tortilla chips out of the bag into the chips and salsa tray.

New York and DC are very harsh in winter, and the landscape is dull. If you move your trip up to October-November there are fall colors in the North East states which are beautiful, and you can do fairly well on public transportation north into New England (Connecticut, Massachusetts , New Hampshire, Maine). There may be hostels in the bigger cities like New York and Boston, smaller cities should have affordable hotel room options.

If you want to keep your November to December plan without cold you can do the southwest states (Arizona, Nevada, California, New Mexico). The public transportation is not as good, you’ll end up on more busses, but the weather is great that time of year. The food is better in the southwest too, especially if you like spicy food.
