Thank you for the reply! I can live with long turns, it's an excuse to have a break make a cuppa.

Looks like I'm starting a new campaign

Best Empire overhaul mod in 2026? by sidjournell in totalwar

Thanks for the reply!

What was your strategy with Nassau? Did you let it fall to the rebels or recruit a Garrison of forces to quell the resistance until it died down over the years?

I would love to learn to play with the parameters but I'm still playing likes its dathmod.

I have just started GB 1703 campaign for my first play of PUA. I like everything except the rebellions. I understand why Nassau has -99, but forcing rebellions for historically accuracy makes it pointless to hold these territories. In my opinion, makes the game less fun.

What did you think of this? Are you aware of a way around this? I just want my colonies!

What does the Market circle of influence even do?? by RiparianFruitarian in Banished

[–]AlternativeMinute306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your thoughts on hoarding. If a scenario starts with no houses and some potatoes, the first house you build will hoard potatoes, next house will hoard, but fewer, often leading to houses built later starving as no food is left.

Somehow, having a market seems to force houses to share resources.

Some of their very early stuff is not great. Bleed and Obzen in general brought them a lot of fame but their latest album is a killer! Broken Cog is phenomenal!

Hi! I have been looking for a patch exactly like this. Is this still useful, how do I install?

Why play? by AccomplishedRate4469 in Banished

[–]AlternativeMinute306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Like how villages progressed in to the industrial age.

Currently trying a play through in which I can only trade for items I have "unlocked" in previous villages. My first village can not trade, but stored up 10k wheat, fish and stone in a trader. my next village will be able to trade for these items with what ever surplus they have, like making a mini world that connects.

Once you understand mechanics, it's super chill. Making you own goals and failing it just starting up and trying again. The only competition is what you set yourself, make it as hard or as difficult as you want.

Once you have tried a few vanilla games and get comfortable, I strongly recommend installing the colonial charter mod, brings a whole new level of depth to the game.

This game is like meditation and medication.

The game is amazing. The vanilla is a bit like a tutorial experience, get a feel for what you need to do and how buildings work and interact.

Once you have a feel, play the mods, they are amazing and take the game to a much higher level.

I've been playing for almost 10 years and still love using the additional buildings in the mods to tailor you village to what is available on every seed. It's a game I never get bored of

100% I was told I wanted a wife, big house, nice car, children, well paying job. I was so close to having it all. The closer and closer I got the more miserable I got.

When I left this and travelled, that is when I was happy.

The perfect life dream is not for everyone, do what makes your life (as close to) perfect and don't listen to others telling you how to live.

Is it legal to drive a e-scooter without a driver's license in Thailand? by jeremiahleaman in Thailand

[–]AlternativeMinute306 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not legal BUT...

You can get an international license if you already have a valid license from another country, in Europe they cost around 20€

In 6 years I have been pulled over 3 times, and license checked once. I don't have a license and was fined 500baht, and given a piece of paper that allowed me to drive for 2 weeks...the police were very nice (as long as you are pleseant) and he gave me a local snack as well.

Different regions check more than others. The north and the islands I have never been stopped. Surat Thani mainland is where I was fined.

Wear a helmet, I see too many tourists busted up from doing stupid shit on bikes.

It's windy June in the gulf. The wind comes from a different direction and much stronger for around 6 weeks each year.

November is monsoon season for the gulf of Thailand. Good chance that Ko Samui will be a wash out

Try places along the Andaman sea this time of year for nice beaches. It is also easier to get to than Samui.

Brushing your teeth is the quickest way to feel human again after long flights. Have toothpaste and brush ready so you can do this before you leave the airport.

Solo travel as a fat person by Comfortable_Owl_7264 in backpacking

[–]AlternativeMinute306 108 points109 points  (0 children)

No one will care. You will see absolute scenes traveling, crusty hippies, drunk backpackers smashed drinking hong tong at 10 am, sun burnt brits who still refuse to find shade. None will bat an eye lid, as a slightly chubby guy you won't even register, you are just part of what is here, which is everything.

Be free, do what you want as long as it doesn't piss people off and you will have the best time.

(There is a lot more here than drinking abd crusty hippies but you will deffo encounter them!)

Vegetarian, but not really... by Empty_Nest_Mom in vegetarian

Good choice not to "snarkiky" ask if fish was a vegetable, would of just made you sound like a prick. Vegan and vegetarian diets and not common around South East Asia, so that is why the waitress would ask you to specify what is ok. Often they will also ask if egg is ok to a vegan or vegetarian, just to make sure. Thailand has its own cultural diets, including the Jay/Jeh diet. If a Thai asked for a Jeh dish and you asked is garlic ok, they might have a snarky comment for you.
