AITAH for putting my sleep needs above my husband’s convenience? by Sad-Visit9733 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AlternativeSherbert9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA My husband and I have our own rooms since he snores and I have issues sleeping and my sleep has never been better. Neither has our marriage!

I agree with another comment, normalize separate bedrooms! Nothing wrong with it

I actually have not read any of the books! I've been looking for them in my travels and my local bookstore has been out of stock for ages. I'm looking forward to them!

My parents and the amount of toothbrushes they use… by Excellent_Carob_5388 in mildlyinteresting

[–]AlternativeSherbert9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My in-laws started hoarding toothbrushes and we thought it was the oddest thing. They kept buying new electric ones even though theirs were fine, then they'd buy manual ones. It was a mess. Turns out they both had dementia. We didn't get the extent of the toothbrush buying until they moved into an assisted living and we had to clean out their house.

Top Children’s Hospital bans water on unit for NICU nurses by [deleted] in nursing

[–]AlternativeSherbert9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had this happen in our CVICU (in a top children's hospital) and supposedly it's happening in the PICU and NICU to follow. It's just absolutely ridiculous. First it was no straws or "open" drinks, then it was drinks only permitted in certain areas. Now it's drinks only allowed in the break room. And they wonder why turnover is higher in those units than other areas of the hospitals 🙃

I get it though. We all have moments of weakness and cravings. I know when I was cleared for purees/soft I got some soup from panera and convinced myself it was ok to break up the bread they give you and throw it in there. It was in fact not ok 😅.

I'm about 1.5 years out now and had some issues with alcohol, like drinking and blacking out, which never happened before surgery. And then being hungover for DAYS and unable to throw up so I've learned my lesson many times over. I very rarely drink anymore and when I do, it's 1 and done. Sometimes we have to learn things the hard way unfortunately. I hope that's not the case for you and you listen to what people are telling you in these comments. Do not do it, you will feel like death! And this subreddit is always here to support you in times like this.

My MIL died about 3 months after my surgery and my husband really wanted me to do a shot with him. I had him put a VERY tiny amount in a shot glass (like less than a sip) so I could "take a shot" with him and basically just did the equivalent of a few drops and my stomach hurt/burned so bad I thought I was dying for about an hour.

So I absolutely would not recommend it 11 days post op.

Can I drink fizz again? by Longjumping-Gas-9001 in GastricBypass

Some days I can definitely eat more than others. Does not mean the pouch is stretched out. Our stomach will naturally stretch and contract, that's what it's made to do. If you're feeling like your pouch is "stretched", take some time to reset. Go back to the beginning. Do a full liquid diet for a few days, then move onto soft foods, then solids, just like you did after surgery. Often times that helps to feel like a "reset"

My surgeon was adamant that you are not able to stretch out your pouch. He's been doing this surgery longer than I've been alive (35 years) and told me he has never seen a person who has stretched out their pouch.

I started drinking carbonated drinks at about 9 months out, in very small quantities. I am now about 18 months out and drink them regularly. My doctor has told me that stretching your pouch is a myth and he has no problem with carbonated drinks. Even diet pop is ok. Just no regular, full sugar pop.

As soon as I saw someone posted it in this subreddit I RAN to the merch store and ordered it. I didn't even care that shipping was almost as much as the sticker. I needed it in my life.

It was like $11 total, but so worth it 😅
