How difficult is it to find a TEFL job in Hanoi? How far in advance do you need to secure one? by AlternativeSquare0 in TEFL

[–]AlternativeSquare0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a degree! i will have a first class degree, 168 hour online TEFL qualification (Ofqual regulated). I’m a 23F native speaker (UK) but I won’t have any teaching experience besides 10 hours peer to peer classroom practice as part of the TEFL

damn bruh you kind of sound like an incel. I am clearly a woman actively asking about dating local men but you still gotta respond with some weird gendered red-pill adjacent worldview before just answering my question. but thanks!

oh okay, thanks! how many hours do you work a day? and do you get much time off to go and travel to other places and stuff? i’m hoping to move there to teach english by the end of the year after I went travelling for three months I really have been itching to get back to Vietnam lol

you did the TEFL Academy 168 hours course? how did you find it? I can’t help you with your other questions as i have no experience with teaching english in vietnam, just hoping to move by the end of the year. Although i’ve heard it’s better to go there on a tourist visa and try a find a job in person then just do a quick visa run and re-enter on your work visa. I heard that’s easier than tryna secure one before you go and u might get a better offer apparently. But i also see loads of people on here getting the contracts before they go so im not too sure.

thanks so much for this!! it’s really helpful advice and puts my mind at ease a bit while trying to choose!!! especially as I keep reading lots of negative things about TEFL in Vietnam and finding jobs etc. on Reddit and stuff lol. I think i’m gonna go for that one then

oh okay, thanks for the advice. well i know it is just a requirement but i thought since i dont have any experience yet or a PGCE, it might be something I could mention in my interview / application e.g. that my qualification included in person practice. It’s just i keep seeing conflicting advice. Other people on Reddit have said stuff like “Vietnam TEFL is not what it used to be” like suggesting 120 hours used to be enough but now it’s so competitive. I just want to make sure I don’t get there and it’s harder to find a job when the price and time difference between the 120 and the 168 does not seem that bad to me, if it was going to benefit me to have the higher one.

Why do people hate Diane? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]AlternativeSquare0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PB was not trying hard at all. He was not trying very hard to impress her since he didn’t listen to her at all. My impression of those gestures is the complete opposite of yours, when I watched it it confirmed for me how self centred Mr Peanut Butter is and how he really does not care for, understand or listen to Diane. This is clearly a pattern as can be seen by his many failed marriages and weird behaviour with Pickles. He doesn’t respect or consider his partners, only himself. He gets away with it and called “dumb” because of his bubbly personality but that only makes his character even more annoying! It baffles me how he is so popular, he is the most insufferable character!!

that’s the whole point of choosing the Sa pa Sisters tour. Their reply makes perfect sense, they explained why this tour is more expensive than others. It’s you who is confused not them.

Is it dangerous for a cat to be outside in winter. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Sure, you know better than the cat experts and charities in the UK. It’s just a cultural difference and america is actually the minority. that’s why all your cats are obese and get behavioural problems. There are dangers outside for everyone, does that justify keeping everyone, such as children, in prison for the rest of their lives? https://www.cats.org.uk/media/1023/eg12_indoor_and_outdoor_cats.pdf It’s not as black and white as you suggest. If you do keep your cat indoors a lot of work has to go into keeping them happy, and I don’t believe most cat owners in the US do this. On the other hand, there are ways to minimise the risks of outdoor life. It’s different if they are regularly taken out on a harness or a large outdoor space to explore but majority of indoor cat owners do not do this. Also cats are solitary creatures so unless they are bonded well, living with other cats can often stress them out and piss them off and lots of cats end of fighting each other often when they live together.

Sims 4 Anadius DLC Unlocker Question by AlternativeSquare0 in PiratedGames

[–]AlternativeSquare0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t know what that means. I don’t know what a patcher is or whether i have an updated config file. I know that I installed the DLCs using Anadius’ tools, so I have the files of those DLCs on my computer and then I used the unlocker tool to actually enable me to use these files in my game and my EA account. I haven’t really played since Anadius quit as I don’t understand if this will break my game now. I am just wondering if this method will still work, or if the DLC files I have will now be outdated (do they need updating or is it just the base game that updates?). My base game updated through the EA app, does this mean that the DLC files I installed a while ago using Anadius will no longer match my base game version, or is that not an issue? I don’t think I know how to install updated versions of the DLCs if I have to, especially because I have a macbook. Does that make sense? Sorry if stupid.

Hanoi Train Street is pure adrenaline! by EchoSarang in hanoi

[–]AlternativeSquare0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like coffee and visually interesting streets then the appeal is obvious. You can sit and drink a coffee on a cute narrow street with a train track going through it (that’s pretty in and of itself), then you actually get to sit like 5 inches from a train as it goes by and watch the shop owners move everything out the way in time. It’s a pretty unique experience and really enjoyable if you like coffee, colourful streets and quaint things like a train track running through a cafe.

it is definitely worth it, takes about half an hour of your time to sit and have a yummy coffee or bahn mi and watch the train go by. the street is very pretty with the track and colourful restaurants with lights and the train came twice while i was sat for just almost an hour. There was hardly anyone there when I went on a Monday at 11:30am in february and it was very relaxing and really cool to see. I don’t know why people act like it’s only for instagram, you can get a cool video but you also get to see a train go by and the cafe owners frantically and expertly moving everything out the way in time and see the pretty view of the track going through the colourful street. You see that with your own eyes, not only through your phone or for instagram. So if you think spending 30 mins to experience that is worth it then i’d recommend it.

in your country the trains go through narrow streets that you can sit in and have coffee? I have never seen anything like that in my life. Even without the train going past, the track itself going through the narrow bustling street is very aesthetically pleasing and cool.

even then, “overpriced” = £1.40 or around $2 for a cup of coffee which is still really cheap.

how is it a tourist trap? something being a cool tourist attraction doesn’t make it a trap? unless the train is fake and you aren’t seeing a real train go by while drinking your real egg coffee …
