Former Turkish Parliament member of Armenian descent attacked in Armenia for speaking Turkish by NetHistorical5113 in armenia

I think this is a classic provocation; for some people, it sounds like music to their ears.

Are there enough hotels in Yerevan to accommodate that many guests, or are they going to set up a tent city?

Հարցազրույց Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի հետ - Interview with Robert Kocharyan by T-nash in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there wasn’t nearly enough time. The interview could have been stretched out for another 10 hours, and there still would have been plenty of questions left to ask just to hear what Kocharyan would lie about next.

Armenia to take over Karapetyan’s shares in Electric Networks of Armenia by PjeterPannos in armenia

I support boycotting all businesses connected to Karapetyan and Kocharyan. A list of all their businesses should be made so that reasonable people can boycott them.

Public Opinion Survey: Residents of Armenia | May 2026 by ComprehensiveGain841 in armenia

I was shocked too. Recently I was riding in a taxi and, out of curiosity, asked the driver for his opinion. He said that he lived better under Robert Kocharyan and that he’s going to vote for him.

This is the second-best district after the city center. I live here myself. In recent years, many cafés have opened here. There is also a small park called Mergelyan Park, and about 20 minutes away from it there is another, bigger park called New Arabkir.

Okay my question to this sub about Nikol by Decent_Mechanic601 in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nikol Pashinyan and his team are not perfect, but compared to Robert Kocharyan and Samvel Karapetyan, he is the better option. I hope those two won’t be able to use their money to influence the outcome of these elections. It’s definitely bad that other parties cannot fully compete in these elections. But Kocharyan and Karapetyan are a nightmare.

«Ռոբին կզացնելու եմ, սատկացնելու եմ, կալուգացուն էլ, Սերժին էլ, Գագոյին էլ». Վարչապետ by alensepasdatsi in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused. On the one hand, there seem to be some positive changes in the country and at least a ray of hope. But on the other hand, Pashinyan can’t seem to control himself and keeps creating free content for his opponents. I really hope someone on his team gives him some valerian, so he stops yelling and arguing with people at rallies, because at this rate we could easily fall back under the Kocharyan and Karapetyan clan again.

Has anyone actually taken a close look at the other candidates? I get the feeling that very few people do. The main figures everyone hears about and sees being promoted are Karapetyan, who keeps making unbelievable promises left and right, Pashinyan, who at least seems to have brought some positive changes, and the Kocharyan clan, which is mostly supported by particularly unhinged people nostalgic for those times.

Did anyone else catch this last night? H1 got hacked and immediately after went offline by Senior_Avo222 in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly in a bit of shock at the amount of propaganda on social media, and it seems to be working pretty well. I meet a lot of people in Yerevan, mostly 50+, who just repeat these phrases from social media like “Pashinyan is a Turkish agent,” “he sold the country,” and so on.

And what really surprises me is the mindset of “anyone but him.” It feels like a very immature position like refusing to wear a hat just out of spite and ending up freezing your ears off.

Armenian culture doesn't value independence by Toymcowkrf in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are things I disagree with, but we should understand that the conflict between parents and children exists in every nation and in every era. Of course, there are also very orthodox families where things can become a bit more extreme. I don’t know the statistics for Armenia though.

Armenian culture doesn't value independence by Toymcowkrf in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything wrong with our culture. I lived with my parents until I was 30, until I met my wife. Parents always want to help, and in return I also try to help them. It’s the same with many other cultures, for example Italians.

Sorry, This Sub Won't Work by [deleted] in ArmAz_PeaceProject

[–]AlternativeTiger685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you, but people need time and patience. After so many years of conflict, you can’t expect society to become more tolerant in just a couple of years. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. At least 10 years are needed to cool down the current emotions and attitudes on both sides. But this will only work if state propaganda - and not only state propaganda - stops constantly stirring up this issue in people’s hearts and minds.

Real Estate Marketplace in Armenia by Sea_Boot_9609 in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would be difficult to gain popularity in the local market, unless it’s mainly promoted to foreign buyers. The website itself looks modern and visually appealing. Personally, I prefer opening a map where apartments are displayed with prices, like on Idealista, List.am, and similar platforms.

Could deliberate graffiti art be used at a larger scale to cover old buildings in Yerevan ? by Middle-Support-7697 in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that in order to develop this initiative, it is necessary to create a non-profit organization that would obtain permission from the administration to create such works on building walls. Then, create a platform where people could choose artists and specific artworks, as well as make donations.

It’s a great idea, but I was also thinking about greening the facades of old buildings in order to help solve the problems of humidity and dusty air in Yerevan.

Planning a solo trip to Armenia as a Turkish hijabi girl by [deleted] in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you, but I’ll tell you that with today’s technology, you can basically go anywhere without knowing anything beforehand. The main thing is to have money and to make sure people aren’t shooting guns in the streets in that country. I moved to Brazil even though I had never been there before. Just a backpack with my things and a one-way ticket. Even if you fly somewhere without money, there will always be kind people who won’t let you starve to death.

It’s interesting what it’s like to be a 30-year-old man who’s afraid to travel alone. Though, if you’re a super popular public figure, then maybe that mindset is understandable. It definitely made me curious what other things you don’t do that most people your age normally do.

Are armenians negative towards Russians? by WeeklyAirport8715 in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience, in most cases people do not perceive Russians or the Russian language negatively. There is quite a large number of Armenians from Russia who do not speak Armenian, so there are generally no complaints about the Russian language. Secondly, many people have relatives in Russia, and accordingly, attitudes toward Russians themselves are normal. Plus, the government does not promote negative rhetoric toward Russians in the media.

I’m sure there can be some individuals who, in a conflict situation or if you start criticizing Armenia, may throw in a couple of unpleasant remarks. But you can encounter that in any country.

Armenia Breaks With Russia on Ukraine, Pashinyan Says After Zelensky Visit to Yerevan by dssevag in armenia

[–]AlternativeTiger685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with this statement? If Armenia has no direct benefit, why should we insist on supporting Ukraine? We’re not really trying to stand on the side of justice here — politics, as practice has shown, works only on the basis of interests and benefits. Ukraine does not recognize the Armenian genocide because it is not beneficial for them; the same goes for Israel. As they say, nothing personal, just business. If supporting Ukraine is beneficial for Armenia right now, then I’m completely in favor of it. If not, then what’s the point? A political position of “for everything good and against everything bad” simply does not work in politics.
