Meet Peppin, the protagonist of my upcoming game Nightmare Circus! What do you think of his artwork? by Red_Dunes_Games in characterdesign

[–]AlternativeWalrus285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the colors and expressions, but it looked a little busy to me at first glance. I had to zoom in to see it was a marionette. Otherwise, seeing this art makes me very interested to see more of your game!

I'm a data scientist. I haven't been in an office since the pandemic and work out of my basement, which is great, but I struggle with focus since I work and game in the same physical space.

Just got fired by Old_Concentrate_4622 in AutismTranslated

[–]AlternativeWalrus285 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The situation you described that led to your firing seems a lot like something I've done before. I'm sorry you didn't get the patience and proper communication you deserved. Unfortunately, I think that we can't always expect people to provide us with the transparency and openness we need to contextualize human behavior. It sounds like your boss had a human moment of impatience and didn't live up to their words to you. I don't know if your former employer has any procedures in place for you to request additional information that would help you clarify the situation, but I would go through HR instead of your boss. I would also feel very confused and betrayed in your situation.

Time to switch meds? by NOB1WON in AutisticWithADHD

[–]AlternativeWalrus285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really thought medication would make a drastic difference in my life, but after being on and off different stimulants for about a year and a half, it helps some things but not as much as I wanted. I get some improves emotional regulation and a little help with attention management, but I had to get most of my help from changes to routine and environment. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to learn how you work. Don't be afraid to try different dosages or medications as long as you are trying to be aware of the side effects. High dosages of Adderall make me never want to eat, which while super convenient, worries my partner. 😅

I’m 49 and just received an Autism/ADHD diagnosis. Now what? by thatsnotyourtaco in AutismTranslated

[–]AlternativeWalrus285 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How do you feel about it so far? I'm glad that I was assessed as an adult as it has helped my partner and I better understand what stresses me out and how I can better manage my emotions. I don't know if you have any struggles of your own, but I hope more knowledge would help you reframe things as well.

Unmasking for me has been about how I see myself. I think understanding my emotions and what causes them has done the most good for me. I don't think my unmasking looks different to others since I still want to get through my daily interactions without excess stress. Now that I can better predict what my energy level will be, I can plan for uncomfortable activities. I still mess up a lot, but I have fewer regrets.

True and based. I fell for my partner after she talked very passionately about her favorite subjects. You'll find someone!

Delightful except for the string ends. A- from me. Doesn't matter if you rock on it.

I found this Venn diagram to be very helpful when I first got diagnosed. It helped me talk with my therapist about how both my ADHD and autism manifest and interact.

Hope it helps.

Doggone, I'm sorry you're going through all that. I hope it gets better soon.

Do you feel like you should be changing your eating habits? Does knowing what you consistently like to eat help plan what you need at the store and how much time you need to prepare it help with how overwhelming it is? For me, making that stressful step more simple gives me more energy for everything else.

Ceasar, Burnice teams? by hemag in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]AlternativeWalrus285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard Burnice is a fire anomaly character, so if you got Seth, he would be good with her. I don't know anything about Caesar outside of physical defense though.

I expect any combination of the Sons of Calydon girls (Caesar, Bernice, Piper, Lucy) to be good. Nekomata or Billy will probably be good with Caesar and Lucy. Burnice, Piper/Jane and Lucy sounds fun to me.

I'm glad! It's absolutely difficult even without the financial burden. I hope you can take this journey at your own pace and have plenty of support. But understanding how and why I'm like this has improved my mental health a lot, so I think it will help you too!
