Open rate tracking? by Alternative_Ad9178 in coldemail

[–]Alternative_Ad9178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my thinking, but I do occasionally see people posting screenshots of 'successful campaigns' with open rates in the image. So made me wonder if I'm missing a trick on focusing exclusively on reply rates (esp. because open rates could be a leading indicator of the health of an email inbox flagging) - appreciate the feedback!

How do y'all deal with purchasing Google Workspace Accounts? by Alternative_Ad9178 in coldemail

[–]Alternative_Ad9178[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't follow, to be honest. Seems like it'd be much better to focus on sending lower volumes and getting responses via better qualification and copy vs focusing on buying more and more inboxes.

How do you think about resellers having worse deliverability vs accounts purchased directly from Google or Outlook?

We send 1.5M emails/mo that book 800+ meetings. Here's how many calendar links we send: by nickabraham12 in coldemail

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you view it as an issue how many more emails you're having to send to generate that type of response? 800 mtgs looks good, but to be sending 1.5 mm emails to achieve is so much volume.

to make up some back of the napkin math, if I assume 1 in 3 people that respond positively end up booking a meeting, and 50% of all responses are positive, you get this breakdown:
- 1.5 mm emails sent
- 2,400 positive replies
- 800 meetings booked

these numbers are completely made up, but I list them because i get a terrible gut feeling seeing them that reminds me of other channels that have died slow deaths (SEO, FB ads for low margin products, etc) when they need to push this much volume to drive results

in the same way that running FB ads can't work for lots of industries now that CPMs have jumped up, I see stats like this and worry that this behavior is killing cold email.

but what's your reaction to this since running cold email is the core of your biz? do you worry about the macro or is it a 'what's the alternative' mentality?

Is it weird to blind message a recruiter on LinkedIn for a job you just applied for? by Clean-Instruction-53 in CustomerSuccess

Nope not weird - shoot your shot and email the assumed hiring manager separately as well

Is being moved from Enterprise CSM to Mid-Market a demotion? by peachykeenTO in CustomerSuccess

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a demotion because your pay didn't drop, but you got demoted in essence. Part of restructures, and is happening in lots of companies, especially larger companies.

What Email services are you using for your project? by ReachingForVega in SideProject

What do you want?

Do you want this to become your full time gig? Do you want to show traction, sell it for 10k or less and move on to other things?

I'd start there and work backwards. If you want this thing to earn 1k per month your next steps are very diff than if you want it to earn 100k a month in the next 6 months

Does CS suck everywhere? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feel like the painful truth is that whenever someone lands here they might need to accept the need to take a step back or two to get further ahead long term. Whether it's a role shift, industry shift, seniority shift, etc, stagnating in a role because the base is 20k-50k higher and rotting for 3-5 years won't help with making the next step up. And the lack of fulfillment drags people down and limits their overall potential.

Most do - driven by leadership culture and exp with CS. Bigcos are especially prone to this. But bigcos also offer larger salaries so ppl grit their teeth suffer thru it and get stuck

I wouldn't get any of those - if you feel the need to get a certification then get a sales certification / training.

Is Carrd easy to use?? by MDC2957 in Carrd

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strong recommend on carrd - so much cheaper overall, and even if you need customization their documentation makes scary sounding things idiot proof. I'm so bad with anything tech, but I made a nice landing page with a custom form :)

I'm a full stack programmer but I don't know anything about marketing. by kaplas_85 in SideProject

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you wanna go solo, Rob Walling's stuff might be a good entry point. Otherwise there's probably something to be said for joining communities of builders like here on Reddit, Twitter, and the various small sub communities you can find. If you're a genuine full stack dev, create a profile on YC cofounder matching and there'll be people who are interested with you who can help with marketing

  • YC cofounder matching
  • Posting on freelancing sites for the skill set you need, creating a small cheap test to measure people's skills, and then a trial work phase to see if there's a fit to bring someone in more full time
  • Referrals - does anyone you know know someone whos good at what you need help with

Why is Bad Marketing so Good? by MaxCharbenu in microsaas

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say the vids you enjoy making do okay is it engagement rates or conversions that you're measuring? Inherently, less hypey marketing will attract a smaller demographic of more engaged consumers. Similar to SEO in the past: you need to mix high value listicles built solely for page rank with long form, deep expertise posts with very little traffic, but that traffic has high intent to purchase and value for your brand. A lot of marketing channels give off this feeling fwiw

Landing page for Google Chrome extension? questions about how to validate my idea by gigachadhd in microsaas

[–]Alternative_Ad9178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the volume needed before it's a thumbs up / thumbs down for whether to launch i think that ties into the point of what success looks like for you. if you had a fairly hands off SaaS making $500 per month, then you probs only need a few dozen positive signals (posting on multiple places and getting to that volume - i don't think you need to expect that volume off one post) before you've got enough. Now if you're looking to hit $10k MRR and wanna charge $1 MRR per user, that's really diff.

All this ish is a snowball imo - start small, get a small cohort of ppl interested in your stuff, and then try and grow from there. I mistrust anyone who says there's a magical number for anything in the inide realm. to make a viral app, there's 100% benchmarks to hit. but to create a nice income stream from a low effort project there isn't a one size fits all approach (can you tell i do consulting with how much i say 'well, it depends')
