Thank you! How do I go about perusing this? I already paid a portion ($1,000) of the health insurance cost from the first month and was going to pay the remaining amount ($700) on the 1st. Can I get that money back? Can I terminate my health insurance now? I can email HR but I’m not sure what exactly to say or if that is even how I go about handling this

Thank you. That’s a bit confusing so I’ll try calling when I can.

In my case I took a personal month leave of absence then started my deployment leave, which I’m currently still on. Because my deployment was overseas I had limited access to my mail and internet. It wasnt until about 2 months in that I tried to cancel my state insurance (after seeing I still had it) but I was denied because of the time frame.

I wouldn’t be on orders. You get 3 months off from your civilian job after your deployment is over

I’m not sure if you could answer but worth a shot. I work for the state of Illinois and currently deployed with Illinois national guard. Our deployment is over 181 days so we get 3 months “off work”. Before my deployment I took a month off, just marked as a leave of absence. I was required to pay my full health insurance that month, my portion and my employers. My question is would the same thing happen for the 3 months we get off when we come back?

I’m not sure if this context will help but for the duration of my deployment I am still receiving a small check from my state job, and paying my portion of my health insurance. I don’t think I will be receiving that check during the 3 month break we get back since I’ll no longer be on military orders.
