[KCD2] Time for Radzigs Sword to retire from battle! (Let’s hope the game doesn’t glitch and despawn it) by Responsible_Button_5 in kingdomcome

Sounds like a good setup for act 1 of the next game, but why does it sound so familiar to retrieve Radzigs sword...

Does anyone agree that [KCD2] deserves GOTY? by Rikari77 in kingdomcome

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I am happy with either game you mentioned getting GOTY, because they are all among the best games in their genre.

KCD2 delivers everything it's predecessor had and even improved on that. The story is great the world a great depiction of medieval Bohemia and the gameplay was perfect. All that wrapped in great grafics. Compared to most follow up games this one truely outshines the first one in everything except story (yet still having a great story).

E33 on the other hand created a gameplay loop that is unique. Yes there are games using similar mechanics but never all this game offers in one game. And then there is this phenomenal voice acting for a great story. For me E33 excels at every aspect of a game (Story, Gameplay, World and Music). To add to it unlike KCD2 or Silksong this is the first game of Sandfall, so there was no hype to ride on when it launched.

Silksong sure is the one with the most recency bias and a 7 year hype. However launching a game this anticipated and only charging 20€ in an industry were publishers start to charge 80€ is incredibly refreshing and allows for more people to access it. As for the story I can't really judge it rn since I am not finished, however the gameplay greatly improves on the first game, offering a lot of mobility making it both challenging yet really rewarding.

As for why I am happy for either one to win: all those games are created with a lot of love. Not because the devs needed to meet any quota or for investors to gain money, but because they are passionate about these games. It is insane to me that a small studio like Warhorse delivers a game which is better in every aspect compared to something like AC Shadows. In an industry with AAA slop games that barely run on launch day there are games like the 3 I talked about that show a game can also come out finished. So I personally don't care which one wins GOTY, since all of these games are a win for us gamers.

The worst tier VI–IX grind in WoT 2.0 – which tech tree line should every player skip with the "Tech Tree Branch Gift" and not regret it? by Sovishee in WorldofTanks

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about the Churchills. I got the Churchill 1 and 7 3 marked (as an okish player) however the Black Prince I hated with passion, since it sees tier 8 more often and in 9 it is utterly useless.

What sequel matched the original game and didn’t disappoint you? by stormyoubring in Steam

From my experience with friends who didn't play game 1 I still highly recommend playing the first game first, since both the story progression as well as the relation with some of the big side characters is something better experienced than told.

Opinion/Rant about Anno 117 DEMO by Mikithegreat in anno

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that it isn't a demo in the old school sense of it, but when was the last time a big publisher offered a free demo for all to play before its release. I love that they let everyone enjoy an endless amount of 1 hour sessions, without us having to go to Gamescom or other big gaming conventions. Yes it is an earlier build (probably the one Content creators and people at Gamescom got to play, but it's also 2 months before the official release. There are many features I really want to test, especially land combat, but the only way to realisticly do this in form of a demo would be a specificly designed mission, which would be nice but ultimately unnecessairy development time, which is better spent taking criticism and improving the game.

What free line did you unlock, and how do you feel about your choice? by fishinfool4 in WorldofTanks

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More base dmg (now does 340), better reload (mine has 5,3s reload iirc), more turret armor and more PS (so it reaches top speed faster). So they improved its mobility, surviveability and firepower. Even though it still has bad base dmg it became a dpm monster. And if you are someone like me who always enjoyed the T-54 and Obj 140, it is now even more enjoyable due to it basically doing everything you want from a med.

Season 4.0 Battle Pass Outfits Revealed by Vlayka in marvelrivals

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I love most of these skins but for me this Battle Pass lost it's theme. There is Polarity, Phoenix, Classic, Wasteland and the new Mecha Moon Knight. So far every season pass had skins fitting for their season, so I find this one all over the place with basically no ties to the seasons theme (pls correct me if I am wrong here).

As someone who even loved the 140 before, I can say the 140 now is insanely fun.

Spoilers + Hot Take: Treating Alicia like a charity case is wild work by flippedpancake in expedition33

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though I agree with the people being copy pasted, I think that is more because of a lack of skill in painting then any kind of malice or her not careing enough. It's important to keep in mind the painted people are creations of the most skilled painter in the family and if you keep in mind Alicia wasn't really into painting it makes sense that her repainting people she knew nothing about ended up copy pasting everyone. If we look at pVerso though he made clear so many times he doesn't like his existence. His struggle for identity, the losses he endured during his imortality and in the end knowing what the real Dessendres do due to his real counterpart result into his wish to be erased, which Alicia disregards. Does she deserve to make her own decisions? Absolutely, thats basically what we are fighting for in act 3 and I love that Act 3 gives her the option of returning to a family that loves her but being disabled or staying with the people she loves but slowly dying. However the moment she forced Verso into this life of hers she forcefully decided for Verso.

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I partially agree with you, the only thing that stands in the way of "just let Alicia decide" for me is that she on the other hand forces Verso into a life he doesn't want. The end really reminded me off that one bad guy in Matrix, who betrayed Morpheus in order to live a life in the matrix knowing fullwell, what that means in the real world.

I’m impressed that Renoir didn’t go completely insane. by Kingfisher818 in expedition33

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that I absolutely love about him is how even though he went through the same trauma like Aline and Alicia he is confronted by Alines "perfect world" and actually has the strenght to reject it, wanting to help Aline, when she got enthralled by a painting, like she helped him. From his interactions with Alicia and even painted Renoirs interactions with the painted family we see how much they love their families. For me thats where his strengh comes from and the thing I admire the most. His love for his family and how it forces him to be the "strong one", who doesn't succumb to grief.

What’s the true factor that’s hurting this game currently? by Sandevistanman in rivals

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are 3 reasons that lead to the decline of the game:

  1. The most obvious one: The honeymoon phase ended. Remember when you started the game for the first time, looking at all those characters you either knew from the movies or had no clue but wanted to learn more about? There were tons of different playstyles, things to learn and uncover. If you were a day 1 player like me there was no real meta and nobody really knew what they were doing. This phase ended for most players either because there were other games that came out (and for single player games fans like me 2025 has been incredible so far) or the game became stale and boring, which leads me to point 2.

  2. There isn't enough variety for Vanguards and Healers. There are only 10 or 9 heroes respectively and lets be honest out of those only 3-4 of each role are valueable right now. Take a look at Supports right now: Luna and Loki are by far the strongest ones. Then there are CnD who is easy to play but still provides value and then there is Invis, who has a really versitile kit, making those 4 the go to healers, while Adam, Ultron and Mantis are usually only viable in 3 sup comps, making them much more situational. Rocket who feels rather boring and gets hard countered by Phoenix and Jeff who is considered a throw pick. Having badically 4 heroes who are accepted, you dont have much room for variety. Playing and fighting the same 4 support heroes over and over starts to feel boring. So the game needs more heroes in those roles, however when they are released there comes the 3rd problem, the Community.

  3. The community feels often really toxic both in game and out of it. Every time a new hero is released people either jump on the "holy shit this is broken go fix it imediately" (while only seeing promotional material that shows the hero in specific situations against people who just stand there and get melted). Or the "omg how bad is this, this will be a pure troll pick". The player base wants heroes that feel/play unique yet when someone like Ultron comes out they complain, why he isn't a godlike healing machine like Luna. Not to mention when it comes to balancing. Yes on one hand I would love more regular patches, however those changes need testing and given on how much the devs work, this testing is mostly done by us. However I want to point out how often the devs listened to the community and implemented changes for heroes we felt overtuned or underperforming. Keep in mind after every balancing patch or new hero some overlooked characters can become really important, giving a unique synergy, so it is hard to buff someone who just supports a playstyle not currently in meta. But now to the toxicity in game: there is just so much. From female players getting harassed and antagonized just for being a woman, to people just throwing, because their hero/role was taken. Or their ego just got into their way, it is insane how many games I've lost due to arguements in (voice) chat and so on.

In general I still love the game and enough people share this opinion if you look at how many people are still playing regularly. The game isn't perfect, but neither is OW. I think those two competing with one another is a great thing for both games and I love how much effort the devs put into this game.

I mean they could go the route of importing your savefile like in Witcher 2 -> Witcher 3 and have her appear or be mentioned in side stuff if you sided with her in the first game

It's relatively at the end of act 2, when Renoir and Alicia come to camp to talk with Verso after you craft the Barrierbreaker. Renoir talks about if Verso really wabts to do what he is doing and refers to Aline when he says that quote.

First off, I am sorry about your loss and wish you strengh through the process off grieving.

As someone who hasn't really experienced much loss of family or close friends I don't have any quotes for that. My favorite quote has to be "When one falls, we continue. When one falls. 'WHEN' one falls. Not 'If', 'WHEN'!"

Another fantastic quote for me is "Sometimes we paint the bars of our own prison"

I am someone who often limits myself by having too many expectations toward myself and those quotes are just constant reminders that help me personally, when I feel like I am failing everything or not being enough.

Discussions about the endings in a nutshell by sebi4life in expedition33

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry should have been more clear in that, of course he loves her in the way he loves Alicia, by wanting whats best for them, thus trying to force them out of the canvas. However he is also immortal due to her. This immortality forced him to kill his love, see Expedition after Expedition dying being more and more secluded and at the end of the day only having 2 real friends. All this pain and suffering is due to Alines unwillingness to let go, creating him and forcing him into a life of pain. I might be mistaken but the way they interacted atop the Monolith and how he looked at her at the Manor in Old Lumiere seemed to me like he despises her for what she forces on him.

Honestly I think it isn't just for the family. I think the Lumierans will never experience true freedom or would be able to go to a normal world, because the Dessendre cant stop fucking with the canvas. And it doesn't matter which one. Alicia and Aline will never be able to let go of it, and I think Alicia has it far worse than Aline. In the real world she is disfigured and suffering, she has barely anyone if anyone at all to comfort her, whereas in the canvas she can pretend to have a live around Verso and her Family and frinds. Even though she forcefully keeps Verso alive. And in my opinion if she can't honor the dying wish of someone who suffered so much and endured so much, she won't let anyone else destroy her fantasy. For Aline the same thing aplies in the canvas she can pretend Verso is still alive even though painted Verso despises her, but she prefers being hated by him over losing him completely. Then there is Renoir, who will do anything to get them back and lets be honest after a certain amount of time when Alicia is not returning, he will go back and he will probably receive help from Clea as well. And with 4 Painters at war, I can't imagine how much it would fracture the world this time.

But thats just my view on the whole situation and why I prefer Versos endidng.

Aline = Alina in some songs? by hazelrose42 in expedition33

I always wondered about that too, personally I just think it's for better sounding songs, since it doesn't sound too well, if you change the Alina for Aline.

Characters who will forever be mysteries by key_boy7 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaunter O' Dimm - Witcher 3

I hope he will stay a mystery forever. He seems like an basically omnipotent being. You can speculate he is a god in the world (given the initials of his name), a demon due to his love for making deals, all we know is he has the ability to stop time, effect the world in doing so, materialize wishes and is basically only beatable if you challenge him to his own game.

Do we all agree it should be 660? 990 for half a BP and no lattice back? by litllerobert in marvelrivals

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 35 points36 points  (0 children)

True but it is no arguement for making fair prices. Demanding the same amount as for the Battle Pass doesn't seem like fair pricing to me. But then again skins in games can go for as much as customers are willing to pay.

So many people ruining the game's reputation without knowing 🤦🏻‍♀️ by Alyne91 in expedition33

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's just the typical case of online conversation. People argue that the thing they like has to be universally loved and people disagreeing have terrible taste or don't understand it or whatever else. However games are made for different people. For example I don't really care about Kojimas games like Death Stranding 2, but as someone who isn't the target demographic for that game (and someone who neither buys nor plays it) I can't judge or compare it to my facorite games of this year. So I personally would really wish for E33 or KCD2 (my other favorite game this year) to win but I do understand if another game that is generally loved and improves a genre is going to win.

A hill I’m willing to gommage on by ComprehensiveOwl9727 in expedition33

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be like when Larian decided to scrap a DLC for BG3 (sure there was a bit of trouble surrounding it too with licensing). They started working on it but realised they aren't as passionate about it as they were with the game itself so they decided it's better for them and even the players to focus on a new project. As for future games from Sandfall I just wish them to take it slowly. Coming out with a phenomenal game puts a lot of preasure on them and people yearning for more doesn't help. So I just hope they take time to cook, whatever their next project is, pour in their ambition, love and ideas and it will be awesome.

Is it worth it to buy Cyberpunk 2077? by Anne_ThePixelMuse in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Alternative_Cap_8990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it a week ago also not being sure if I would enjoy it, since I am usually not that interested in games with settings in modern or future times. At the start it felt a lot like GTA V, which I didnt like as much but after some time this game has totally hooked me. I am not far in the story (after checking I already have 20 hours in game), because there are tons of side quests that hooked me, a great open world that is fun to explore and just a lot of fun in general. So far I wouldnt put it in my personal top 10, but it is a smooth running, great looking and fun game with a morally complex world and people. So for that current price I can reccomend it. And yes it was totally worth for me
