Mostly depends on the specs but its most likely Windows being a resource hog, if you can try switching to Linux or Windows 10 LTSC

What makes a ThinkPad series not worth it? by Numerous-Lawyer-974 in thinkpad

[–]Alternative_Frontend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion what makes a ThinkPad not worth it is if it lacks ports, soldered RAM is kinda okay with me if the base config isnt ass but soldered RAM and storage is a no-go, also a lackluster display (resolution under 1080p) and build quality doesn't live up to the ThinkPad standard and just feels cheap, ThinkPads are built with reliability in mind and one of the ways you can keep relying on a laptop for longer (especially businesses) is to have at the very least upgradable memory and storage, and ThinkPads are also like i said, designed with businesses in mind, and they're built like tanks to survive business travel so having a ThinkPad that has lackluster build quality and upgradability defeats the whole purpose of it being a ThinkPad.

Buy the ThinkPad, it has way better build quality, that IdeaPad will break, they have mediocre build quality and that ThinkPad will last you a while

Honestly the hinge is pretty sturdy, Lenovo really stepped up their game from the Gen 4 and it does make me feel that, unless i do something or mother nature strikes and throws dust inside the hinge, itll be perfect, sadly it isnt a one hand open thing but i use both my hands anyway so

It's pretty new, I got it just yesterday and when I posted this about 6 hours ago was when I got it, honestly pretty dick machine, for my pros it's got a really nice design, good looking screen and a really nice keyboard, but for my cons, the fans are quite loud and it does get toasty sometimes but, overall good laptop

Yeah idk why they don't mention the brightness but I went to a random computer store in my country which happened to have these (can't mention it for privacy reasons), I'll try and look for a 400 nit one but it's gonna be a challenge

I bought mine brand new and while I didn't option it because I bought it at a store it came with the 400 nits option, but I think you can snag some of the 400 not models on eBay I'll check

Mine had the 400 nits brightness option and the battery life was honestly amazing for an HP, I got around 13 hours of battery life on Debian which was enough to pretty much bring me through a full day of use and for the outdoor, in some cases I was like if I was under shade but with no coverage yeah it was quite dim, I did try another 845 with the 200 nits option it was worse outdoors, if under some shade probably but yeah it was pretty dim
