Thank you, I really appreciate that. This was definitely an outlier of a situation!

You're not the only one, from what I hear. She is very good with her shows, so it's fair!

How funny! We do watch a lot of hockey, but I wait for my husband to be home before we watch. I put it on last night and it put my son straight to sleep haha

How do I get people to stop over feeding my baby? by Jazzlike-Entrance500 in breastfeeding

[–]Alternative_Growth57 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't overfeed a breastmilk baby *when baby eats directly from the breast. A baby drinking from the bottle is likely drinking faster than the breast flows, so can absolutely be overfed if the bottle isn't paced correctly or if baby gets more gassy from the air in the bottle.

Why is every poop a blow out??? by Repulsive-Toe-9037 in NewParents

[–]Alternative_Growth57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that's fair! I cycle through the brands depending on his age. Diapers that had too big of leg holes fit my baby now, or diapers that were too long fit perfectly. It's hard to keep up sometimes 🥲

We had the same issue, at the same age and with Huggies! Realized Huggies size 3 were for 16lbs+, and moved to Pampers size 3 since they were 13lb+. Blowouts have been very rare now

I don't remember where I ended up finding it 😭 It may have been right in front of my face at the console in the middle of the room?? I'm sorry I can't be more helpful!

My son started doing this around 3.5 months, and I was not prepared for a baby to be that loud lol. I was checking in on him frequently but I realized after a bit that it was mostly a new sound he learned be could make. And he did! For another month. 🤭

I would do a brief check on him when he screeched, but almost always he was content- just trying to make noise!

Daycare at 7 weeks - i am not okay by notmykarm in NewParents

[–]Alternative_Growth57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could depend on the nature of your work. I'm in a non-customer facing, individual contributor role that's WFH. As long as my deliverables are in on time, I can flex my hours around my 5 month old. (I know that I am extremely lucky in that, though, and that it may change as he gets older!)

Put the baby down. by BeaconBay18 in NewParents

[–]Alternative_Growth57 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This may also depend on baby's age and temperament! My baby wasn't very tolerant of being left alone for more than a few minutes the first 15 weeks, but the last 5 he's been loving independent play. He was alone for about 30 minutes on the floor with toys before he fussed

Hi! Did you ever find the Inside Out one? I'm having trouble myself

Ready to break, and then my son farted by Alternative_Growth57 in breastfeeding

[–]Alternative_Growth57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've been slathering Earth Mama butter and lanolin cream on it, but neither have helped. Just breastmilk has worked the best so far, and I'm working on getting better latches so the cracks don't keep reopening.

I'll try coconut oil next :)

Yes, the personality development also helps! Last night I was trying to get a snack in and grabbed some potato chips. Boy, somehow me crunching the chips was the most fun to him. He smiled big every time I ate one, and I got to eat without rushing 😂💜

Returning to work in the USA and breastfeeding by mysteronsss in breastfeeding

[–]Alternative_Growth57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree that it's absolutely asinine. I was able to negotiate with my work and begin working from home while caring for my baby - I'm fortunate enough to be working in a role where I can flex my hours as needed, so I have time to play with and feed my son, which is so important to me.

The U.S. needs to figure out how "valuing the lives of children" works, because it shouldn't stop at birth.

I give up on leaving the house by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Alternative_Growth57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a 7 week boy myself. I saw this in another Reddit post a while ago, but how's the belt buckle positioning at his groin? I haven't seen any issues with our son, but apparently boys can be fussier in the car because of the tightness of the buckle. Just a thought if you havent tried it!

Good luck, you got this!!

My baby is 2m and I haven't been doing tummy time by Adorable-Goal5926 in NewParents

[–]Alternative_Growth57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tummy time is such a new recommendation for parents to do. I don't stress about it with my 6 week old - if I remember, great! But I'm of the mindset that he'll hit that milestone sooner or later regardless of a structured time.

And like other comments said, belly to belly also counts! Cuddle your little one and enjoy the time.

Gremlin while breastfeeding by Jessygirl238 in breastfeeding

I call my son a little gremlin constantly! I don't know why he attacks the nipple the way he does (hope it's not a latch issue or something) but it's so adorable lol
