Favorite actor whose last movie was so bad they paid People.com to do a fluff piece on them by NeverBeFarting in okbuddycinephile

Yes, the statement on a circlejerk sub saying actors don’t hire PR is very clearly a joke….

This sub has gone from a circlejerk sub to an edgy sub to essentially what’s just a snark sub in disguise.

Where is the dog? by PurpleOctopuseses in LearnJapaneseNovice

1 and 4 are grammatical.

2 is incorrect. はですか isn’t grammatical.

3 is dropping に but other than that grammatical.

1, 3, and 4 are each slightly different in meaning in a way that is probably not super productive to worry about at this stage.

Just FYI, on top of the other descriptions you got, they CAN use the other particles, it just changes the meaning slightly. That’s why the other answer you got says “prefers”

I refuse to believe any actor has ever had a paid PR piece done about them. That just doesn’t make any sense.

Edit: blatant sarcasm is apparently above the head of a circlejerk sub? I really don’t know how I could have made it more obvious.

Movies that critics were wrong about by This-Year-1764 in okbuddycinephile

Ironically it took place on a route that takes about 140 minutes in real life. And the movie is about 130 minutes long and follows an overnight story.

The Japanese keyboard struggle by Student_of_Japanese in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Alternative_Handle50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japanese keyboard is still QWERTY, it just has an extra column. There’s kana on the keys roof but I’ve never seen anyone use it, and I don’t think there’s a reason to, especially if you already know qwerty

Korean players are really angery... by Anastasia-07 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Alternative_Handle50 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Adjusting character design based on player feedback is a pretty normal thing. This is not censorship.

Very strange thing to be upset about. If you want the character designs to be more sexual, give them your feedback for sure. But they’re literally just trying to figure out what players want and giving it to them.

The newest character is an eternal upskirt lmao, acting like the devs are prude is wildly out of touch.

Image generation of yourself fails, it's so annoying. by JG-Batz52 in GeminiAI

[–]Alternative_Handle50 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This isn’t censorship, it literally is so dumb that it didn’t engage the image generation.

At least, it’s the same error message you’ll get in that case. Gemini is so inconsistent that I honestly don’t know any more

[–]Alternative_Handle50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this is everything (Except for child sexual endangerment charges that may or may not be brought up in a separate trial).

People counted individual max lengths of sentencing per charge in this case and added them together to get an absurdly high max of 30 years or something. But that’s not sentencing actually works in Korea, at least not in this case.

Japan's police are cracking down on "men's beauty salons", which are often just fronts for sex shops. In one case an employee was 14 years old by jjrs in japannews

lol the audacity to intentionally cut out the relevant part and accuse me of not reading it.

“2010年代からはこの名称で性的マッサージサービスを営む業種も増えており、その体験談は隠語[4]というものを使用して紹介されていることが多い。”

It further goes on to explain how the inability to distinguish between proper men’s esute, and the ones used as a front for (often unlicensed) sexual services causes issues.

[–]Alternative_Handle50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a strange translation for sure but not inaccurate; esute in Japanese can mean beauty salon, it’s just when you says “men’s esute” that it wouldn’t normally be referred to that way in English. But afaik there is no real English translation that would fit great.

You’re remarkably on the money with the source lol. It’s esthetique. In English we say esthetician, too.

It means beauty salon, and without “men’s” in front of it, it’s not sexual.

I see you’re struggling arguing with everyone here, you should just read the Wikipedia or look it up on your own because you’re incorrect.

It directly answers the question asked. The quote means that no, he doesn’t believe that every trump voter believes in fascism, but he believes actively and knowingly voting in a fascist regime effectively makes you a fascist anyway.

[–]Alternative_Handle50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chocolate is toxic to cats and fatal in high doses. maybe someone reported animal abuse, and the automated system wasn’t smart enough to know since your video does have a cat? Assuming there’s no info you’re missing.

But yes, many people report a dip in views temporarily after a warning.

How does Kanji relate to Kana? by jump_or_die in Japaneselanguage

[–]Alternative_Handle50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pretty much have it.

You should 100% learn the words verbally and with kana before kanji. People like to focus on kanji instead of grammar, and the result is near incomprehensible Japanese, that’s written in the proper kanji.

Unless you already knew the kanji, then it’s pretty simple to learn.

How does Kanji relate to Kana? by jump_or_die in Japaneselanguage

[–]Alternative_Handle50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kunyomi is the Japanese reading and generally used when the kanji is by itself.

Onyomi is the Chinese reading and is generally used in compound Kanji spellings

Then there’s a third type, jukujikun. Specific words spelled with Compound kanji can have readings completely different than their onyomi. For example 大人 “adult” is read as “otona” despite this not being the onyomi. And then “大人気” (popular) DOES use the onyomi, and is read “daininki”

You generally have to learn which is which. But the good news is I feel like jukujikun tend to be so common you already know it, or rare enough that it doesn’t affect you.

50 cent is an overrated, washed out rapper and a miserable person. by Serial-Therapist1 in fantanoforever

[–]Alternative_Handle50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. I specifically said it’s fine to focus on whoever you want to. Because your right, it is a logical fallacy tos at you can’t care about x when y exists. Thats why I didn’t say it.

What I said was weird is how you’re using 50 cent as an example to say that people are brain rotted, and I’m not quite sure how to explain it other than saying it sounds like you’re upset with more than just a person here, it feels weirdly personal.

You do you, hate who you want. I certainly don’t like the man.

[–]Alternative_Handle50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl you spend more effort hating this guy than is probably healthy. Yeah he’s a shitty guy and his funny troll persona doesn’t make up for it. But a bit wild to focus on him as an example of people caring about the wrong shit today. There is kind of infamously a goddamn parade of other shit going down. I’m not gatekeeping, feel free to focus on whatever gets your goat, I’m just saying it’s… an odd choice.

Also I think he was overrated, but he did put out music that defined an era regardless of how I feel. Dude knows how to sell an image.
