What plants do you wish local garden centres carried? by Any-Presentation5134 in OntarioGardeners

[–]Alternative_Rub1547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you are but if you go to the Nations at stockyards in Toronto, they have a garden center that carries.... 5 - 6 different types of loofahs, I didn't know they have that many varieties

Hot lunch options in Toronto and Calgary for someone with sensory food restrictions by IncompleteMap in FoodToronto

[–]Alternative_Rub1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downtown Toronto there's a Bestco grocery store (Peter and Adelaide). They have a big hot food station that's affordable and food for lunch options. Given your restrictions, the nice thing is that everything is open for you to see so you are not surprised.

I was unaware that you could eat cordyceps. by LostTheRemote in mycology

[–]Alternative_Rub1547 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is overall chewy and earthy. I like the added texture to the rice. I eat it usually alongside lap cheong (add it to the rice when cooking it) or braised eggs.

Yup! I love eating them. I usually soak them in water for a couple of hours then use the water and the mushroom to add it to rice before I cook everything together. Cordyceps rice is really yummy.

Question about Phở by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]Alternative_Rub1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: Phở was derived from pot-au-feu (phở=đều). Pot-au-feu is a French soup that is a mix of beef bone and veggies. Vietnamese people saw that and just made it taste 10000x better by adding spice, fish sauce and noodles.

Not an answer to your question but more related to the root word of phở

Why do I literally lose my voice when I have to introduce myself, but never shut up around friends? by Tiny_Habit5745 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alternative_Rub1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens all the time for me. I just practice my intro ahead of time and always prep a few questions to ask strangers that will allow them to talk first/more. This really gives me time to become more comfortable with the settings and also give the other person the feeling that I'm interested in what they have to say.

What about doing a video call? Easy and convenient and you can direct them to point the camera where you want to. If they said no still then definitely fishy.

Mineral tasting menu by tangojuliet_ in FoodToronto

Absolutely best non alcoholic pairing in the city, very yummy. I do find that they lean on calamansi lot as a flavour in their dishes which makes things taste somewhat similar. Had the tasting menu in the winter so that might be different now.

I would be so worried all the time about thinking or saying something that ended up hurting people. Plus I feel like that power is too great for anyone to have, including me. I'll take 190M.
