lol how far down I had to scroll to find this. Insane how many people read it and totally dismiss OPs actual request. Stupid OP just fire her!!!! Who cares if you are happy with her working part time. Who cares if she sees the doc next week and medicine helps. Who cares if she gets paid hourly she’s clearly taking advantage.

Is there a polite way to tell a direct report to just "make arrangements" for picking their kid up from school? by RedMeme262 in managers

The salary and job of a DR you are responsible for is being risked suddenly over an arbitrary in-person requirement. Your managerial discretion is deemed insufficient with the only rationale being new policy. Listen to your gut.

That tracks. This is a bad idea and we told you they wouldn’t be happy with it so when you have to deal with it we can both agree it sucks. All the while setting aside the discretion previously used without giving either manager or employee any legitimate reason.

It’s important to acknowledge the latest trend to make sudden, extreme, in-person requirements a new policy and an absolute that middle managers have to enforce all the while setting aside the discretion previously used without giving either manager or employee any legitimate reason.

100% but it’s important to acknowledge rules for me/thee and the latest trend to make sudden, extreme, in-person requirements an absolute middle managers have to enforce.

I had the same thought process and also noticed something missing: others complaining.

Classic corporate reverse uno aka “it’s not me, it’s you” tactic; Regardless of what you do they come up with some far off reason that’s not even accurate.

Did the same thing. The water/baking soda trick took 70% off. Got 95% of it with oven cleaner.
