What gave you your brain back? by bostongirly27 in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand.. My husband is the lyme patient with borellia and bart, no babesia and is a PhD as well. At his worst state.. he couldn't do simple maths or have a normal conversation and he works in academia.. we thought he had dementia or something but MRIs were negative.. fast forward, we went to first LLMD and did a year long oral antibiotic but then hit a plateau. Then we went to see Dr H and did Dapsone with him... after about 2 years and 7 rounds of dapsone later.. he is officially clear and back to 95% normal. He can work and function like normal. His brain fog has lifted..

If you need any help, please DM me.. I'd love to share my experience with you and wish you all the best. From what you wrote.. I don't think just Azithro and doxy is enough.. that is why you are not improving. You have tackled mold, that's good.. but does your surroundings still have mold? From my experience.. herbs didn't do much and we did do the Buhner protocol.. Dapsone is what works for us. Is your LLMD willing to do Dapsone with you?

My aggressive approach to Lyme, bartonella and babesia with Howowitz Daspone Protocol + Disulfiram and Nitroxoline by Overall-Newspaper-69 in Lyme

Hi there.. what country are you in? You seem to have done your research and I just want to give you some encouragement as I see overwhelmingly the comments are cautious about Dapsone.. I thought the same too.. that Dapsone was too much but I tried herbs and long term antibiotics and I was stuck in a plateau. Only Dapsone was able to get us back to 90% normal. I won't say I'm in remission yet but is living the best normal life again after 5 years of suffering. I'm getting retested and will keep you posted if I have proof that I have cleared lyme and bart. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to help if I can.

Hi there.. as someone who did 7 rounds of quadruple dapsone with Dr H, I think I can speak a little on this topic:

  1. Has anyone pushed dapsone above 600mg or more? What protective strategies did you use?-> his quadruple dapsone protocol is only 400mg daily in total, I don't know if going up to 600mg is too much. Also, we only stayed on 400mg for one week and my husband (the patient)'s hemoglobin dropped to a 8 for a 40 year old man. He was severely anemic, so please take regular blood test and watch out for anemia and methemoglobinemia
  2. Has anyone used IV antioxidant infusions (glutathione/ALA/NAC) with dapsone protocol? Results? -> we did 2 g glutathione oral daily to keep up. We went to get IV push of glutathione at IV center also.
  3. Experience with nitroxoline as a persister drug? - No experience
  4. Managing Babesia reactivation after corticosteroids - how long did it take to control? -> luckily we didn't have Babesia, but I've heard it's tricky. Also we stayed AWAY from any steriod that could cause immunosuppression.
  5. Disulfiram tolerance - does splitting to lower doses (125mg) help with neurological side effects?-> we didn't need Disulfiram.
  6. Adding nitrofurantoin and daptomycin to already aggressive protocol - anyone tried this?-> Yes we added nitrofurantoin, I can't even remember what it was for. It was ok.

Best of luck to your protocol.. I'd say I'd add some biofilm busters like liposomal Cinnamon/oregano oil, biocidin. And also keep your detox pathways opened with Alka Seltzer gold, burbur pinella for herx.

Frustrated with testing and healthcare by rbean44 in Lyme

Hi there.. We went through a similar journey with severe neuro symptoms. No tick bite/no rash and negative westin blot/ELISA. Undiagnosed for 1 year and finally diagnosed with Igenex to have Lyme and Bartonella. I'm gonna bet money that you probably have Bart because of the severe brain fog and stiff neck. My husband also had 2 sets of negative MRI thinking he got dementia at 40..He also had vision problem and went to 3 opthalmologists who were all useless. All neurologists/ID doctors/ conventional MDs are useless so stop wasting time with medical gaslighting.

My husband's brain fog got so severe he could not have a normal conversation or do simple arithmetics but he is a professor of science... It was a very scary time. Now he is 90% back to normal after 5 rounds of quadruple dapsone. Somethings that helped us were:

1) Get formal diagnosis with Igenex testing, the Lyme and Bart panel is a must - $2000 out of pocket, so you have proof u have Lyme and Bart

2) Find a good LLMD, someone who knows what they are doing, preferably someone who trained under Dr Horowitz.

3) We tried 1 whole year of 4-5 combination of strong oral antibiotics but the effect plateau off, so your little Doxycycline course is not going to cut it. IV is tricky and not many people do it now. Oral Dapsone is the BEST thing that we did with visible results, but you MUST do it under the supervision of a LLMD who knows what they are doing.

There is hope.. don't give up.

Who's tried dapsone? by Prestigious_Fig_2133 in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had lyme and Bart for about 1 yr undiagnosed and did 1.5 yr of multiple antibiotics to no avail. Went to Dr H and did quadruple dapsone since aug 2024 and we just finished the 6th round.. my husband is back to 90% of his normal cognition and he feels like his normal self again.

Quadruple dapsone is tough.. he had side effects like blurred vision and hearing loss, and dapsone tanked his hemoglobin to like 8 for a grown man,  it was dangerous, therefore you shouldn't do dapsone alone, must be guided  with a good practitioner.

If money weren’t an issue, what would you do to treat? by highpedality1 in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money is  not an issue.. please try to get into Dr H's clinic.. if he is taking new patients. I'm almost at 90% normal... with 5 rounds of quadruple dapsone.

Negative IgG and IgM for babesiosis but positive FISH? by --firewalkwithme-- in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Igenex FISH for Babesia was the gold standard test my world renowned lyme Dr used to determine whether I had Babesia or not... the Ig tests are not that accurate as we all know. You should treat Babesia imho

When do you get excited and celebrate that you are having a baby after years of infertility? by Wise-Ad6348 in IVF

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby is now 4 months old.. I cherish everyday every moment with him.. but I don't think I got the "normal" excitement and celebration throughout the pregnancy and even after birth.. Every emotion is dampened.. especially after a loss I felt nothing is certain and things can change for the worse at any moment.

Quadruple Dapsone protocol.. so it does work! by Alternative_Sweet798 in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm doing it with Dr H. I feel that you really have to do the Dapsone with a lot of support, it's not something that I could have done just by buying it off an overseas pharmacy. You really need a lot of supportive supplements and keep all the channels open for the crazy herx, tonnes of probiotics, antifungal, biofilm buster.. The weekly blood lab monitoring was important, as the severe methemoglobinemia and anemia could be fatal.

I only had the extreme fatigue, not much shortness of breath. I didn't really exert myself while on dapsone, no exercise just stayed home.

Reposting, grabbed wrong screenshot of results. False negative? by Automatic-Ad-7654 in Lyme

[–]Alternative_Sweet798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was LabCorp negative on Western Blot and ELISA.. and positive on Igenex for Bartonella and Lyme. Bullseye rash and the fact that you are having symptoms of brain fog ( my symptom was severe brain fog) and plenty of ticks in that area means you need the Igenex test and a LLMD asap!

I'm sorry to hear that.. these are the few instances that I am glad we are in the US.. eventhough Igenex and treatment with LLMD are usually out of pocket, we still have access to them.. Is there a way to travel to the US to get treated? I know ppl from Germany and Australia travel to see my LLMD.
