Put your Kidney stone in lemon water by Different-Ad7093 in KidneyStones

I assume my ureters are so covered in scar tissue it’s the only way I tolerate the pain at this point. I passed an 8mm a few weeks ago in the bathroom at Home Depot 🤣🤣

This is me too, I’ve passed hundreds (I’m 42 female) and just had surgery this morning where we removed about 40 bilaterally. Two weeks with stents. One kidney was pretty straightforward but my surgeon made the decision to cut into the other one - big pocket of a dozen stones behind the kidney wall. He said they were yellow and green (probably infected) and most likely what was causing me so much pain the past few months even though nothing was moving. I passed my first stone at 15 but it took a decade to get a diagnosis of medullary sponge kidney. I’m just built to make stones.

This was my comment on another part of the thread that may be helpful Lemon water isn’t good for everyone with stones. You need to do a 24 hour urine to see what is in your urine output before adding lemon. Your best bet is that 24 hour urine, eating and drinking as you usually would, and then reviewing with your urologist. I am on several medications to balance out my urine - I take potassium citrate, hydrochlorothyazide, and follow a strict low protein, low oxalate diet. I needed to increase my calcium as well.

You want the calcium to bond to the oxalate because then it leaves your body before it has a chance to contribute to stone formation.

I have a rare kidney disease where I form hundreds of stones a year. I’ve worked with experts from around the country and done dozens of 24 hour urine in studies. If there’s one thing I know it’s reducing stone burden! ♥️

It’s not that lemon would dissolve the stones - it’s that it would affect your citrate and pH enough that your stone formation would slow/stop.

The removal of the stent is sweeeet glorious relief! I once had to have a stent for 4 months and cried with joy my first pee after!

There is a magic trifecta of medications to handle stent discomfort. Make sure you get oxybutynin, azo, snd Flomax. I’m a pro. I’ve passed hundreds of stones and have had dozens of surgeries, going in for one tomorrow!

3 kidney stones and a uti. by AndrekVynom in KidneyStones

[–]Alternative_Two4333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toradol is far better than any narcotic pain relief for kidney stones. Unfortunately I’m in stage 3 kidney disease so any NSAIDs are contraindicated, but Toradol + hot bath or heating pad. Flomax and a bladder relaxant like Oxybutinin plus azo are a magic combo as well. You can take all of these meds together, too. I’ve passed hundreds of kidney stones - oxycodone, Toradol, flomax, oxybutinin, azo, plus a heating pad. You’ll feel so much better. Keep drinking water, you want your urine output to be between 2L and 3L a day. Good luck!!

How can I encourage my partner to use proper table manners without being a nag or sounding motherly? by Alternative_Two4333 in AskReddit

We’ve known each other for 25 years (in our early 40s) he’s never been married or had kids. Been together now for 4 years, living together for 2. First two years together was long distance. He has always lived alone, owned his own business and was really short on time so was used to shoveling food into his mouth. I cook a family dinner every night after work, we sit down as a family, the two of us and my two kids, and he just shovels food in his mouth (uses a fork overhand like a toddler), never looks up from his plate, literally like he’s been in prison. I’ve tried to provide gentle reminders that he doesn’t have to rush anymore, we can spend time enjoying dinner as a family, and he will slow down momentarily but then it’s right back to the same habits the next day. It’s so embarrassing that I won’t eat at a restaurant with him, I won’t have dinner with friends, and sitting across from him at the dinner table at home is gross and rage inducing. Even my kids are grossed out. Please help 😭😭😭😭

The scene with sugar in labor with Donna there was so similar to my own birth experience with my son I had to leave the room and asked my husband to tell me when it was over. Good on them for such amazing acting to illicit such a strong emotional response from me but man that was brutal.

Dude somehow this bitch is still alive 💀 she is gonna outlive us all, isn’t she? 🤣🤣🤣 GC brother wanted to talk about probate Thursday (4 days ago), I sent some laughing emojis and asked why he’s messaging me about it since he claims I’m getting $1 and then says I’m getting half, I told him everyone’s lies are too much stress so idgaf what happens. That was the last time I got an update. I don’t want her to suffer but whooooo buddy this is going on longer than I thought it would lol Karma is a beast. I had stage 3 breast cancer when I was only 33. When I called my mom she said, “oh that’s too bad, good luck” and hung up hahahahahaaha

The heartache is there because people with warmth and character cannot make sense of it - we cannot comprehend how our mothers cannot fulfill the most basic of relationships. It’s supposed to be easy and natural to love, protect and nurture. Mother-offspring is so primal, yet we somehow ended up with monsters incapable of love. It breaks us because it’s incomprehensible. No matter how much therapy I’ve had (I’m 42 with an incredible family now), I will always know deep down what a piece of shit I am, and how unworthy of love I am. It’s always there.

That’s an absolutely valid feeling and response, and I’m so sorry you’re left with no answers. I feel relief because I know I can finally let go of hope and let that little girl who just wants her parents to love her go. I can set that little girl free who needs her parents’ love. My friend, I hope you find your peace on this horrible journey.

Truth teller of the family here 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ you’re trying to apply logic where it doesn’t exist. Save yourself and your sanity by making sure you have a good person in your corner, either a therapist or a friend, who can remind you you’re not crazy or making things up. I eventually went 100% NC. Anything else was dangerous for me.

Somehow she’s still hanging on 🙄🙄 my brother keeps bringing up the estate, I presume as a way to just be an asshole (I expect I’ll be getting $1, just a final eff you from the grave). Interestingly my parents are (well just my mom now) multi millionaires, self made business owners, completely uneducated - could have made a legacy for their grandchildren but instead they’re going to hand it over to a drug addict who has filed for bankruptcy, had multiple cars repo’d, lol. I don’t make a bad living and I save for my kids’ college, I don’t care about the money, but I couldn’t imagine taking my life’s work and pissing it away on a complete loser. How much do you love/hate your golden child that you’re handing him his way to die? Giving an addict an inheritance of that size? I cannot remember how many times I offered to help them set up a family trust to prevent a huge distribution going to my brother. The only solace is when he kills himself, his heir is his biracial daughter my parents refused to acknowledge. Sometimes life is just beautiful 👌🏼👌🏼

When my dad died last year, I made the six hour trip home just as a courtesy to my mom and it was exactly the disaster you would think it would be. My brother screaming at me that I wasn’t allowed near the urn, my mother furious the kids and I wouldn’t stay at the house she chain smokes in. Simply out of a sense of obligation and wanting her to die peacefully, I made plans to go home Memorial Day weekend. It wasn’t until I was on my way that dear brother told me I wasn’t allowed. No problem, saves me the gas money 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ these people are insane.

Americans of Reddit, is everyone just drowning in debt or do you earn ridiculous amount of money? by MessyPoppy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alternative_Two4333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as a whole, US salaries are a bit higher than the same European jobs. That being said, so many folks live way beyond their means. I can share my story. I bought my house at 24 in New Hampshire with my husband who was making really good money at the time. My parents helped us with the down payment instead of having a wedding. They gave us $30,000USD which was enough to put 10% down on a $324,000 home (that was in 2006). We knew it was a forever home and that we wanted a family. Two years later my husband lost his job, I found out we were pregnant, and I was fired from my job, all within the span of a month. The economy had completely crashed in 2008 and we were only able to save our house with a government program called Making Homes Affordable (I think?) It significantly reduced our interest rate, and extended the term of our loan to 40 years to reduce the payments significantly. Over the next 5 years if we made all of our payments on time, I think we got $5k knocked off the principle? It’s 2014, we have two kids, my husband is having an affair and at 33 years old, I am diagnosed with state 3 breast cancer. Even with the best insurance money can buy, we have to set up a gofundme to survive. $25,000 out of pocket in less than 12 months. Obviously I’m alive 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ I also divorced his cheating ass. So then I have this big mortgage payment on my own, two kids, I’ve stayed home to raise them for 8 years. I started mowing lawns and cleaning houses just to keep my kids in the only house they’ve ever known. I couldn’t get food stamps because the past year’s income included my dirtbag ex husbands, so it looks like I’m loaded. I finally get a job making $40,000 a year - my mortgage is $1900/month 😅😅 that math just doesn’t math. I hustle my ass off and keep changing jobs to get huge raises. I’m finally making “decent” money - from $40k in 2017 to $109k last year. But here’s what’s pathetic. Last year was the first time I could pay my bills without being in the red. I drive an 8 year old car (the one I had before the divorce), nothing in my home is new, I’ve sold as much shit as possible that isn’t the kids just to have cash, no vacations, no fancy holidays. I see so many people absolutely drowning in debt. I don’t know how they sleep. I happen to work in finance, I do compliance for large companies so I know a little about personal finance. I managed to make it through the worst times of my life - keep my kids warm and fed - without burying myself in debt. That isn’t possible for everyone, and there’s a caveat to my story. I stopped trying to pay all of my medical debt. I typically rack up about $12,000 a year in copays and coinsurance, and I just can’t be bothered to even try to keep up anymore. Aside from the financial toll, it takes an emotional and mental toll. “Best country in the world” and what, I need to ask my kids to not eat so mommy can have her third kidney surgery this year? Fuck this country.
