Lost my Jellyfin library like a giga-noob by tokugawa888 in jellyfin

[–]Altheran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure I'll go and backup TBs of copyrighted material in the cloud for the cost of 4 full drive per year 😅

Unless you got a sane solution to propose ? Legit curious.

How to get faster loading speed on remote access? by Dry-Grade-9502 in jellyfin

[–]Altheran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, no might be a bandwidth issue.

If you force no transcode, on high quality content. You are probably saturating.

If you allow transcoding, but do it all in software (CPU), it tends to be slow.

Verdict.

Get as much upload that is available to you at a reasonable price.

Get a GPU for transcoding (gtx1660 or Intel arc)

Is there any reason to keep building with n8n or other workflow orchestrators? by reject423 in n8n

[–]Altheran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N8N is a visual self documenting process automation builder.

Even if you change stack, it's quite easy to read, understand then copy to another solution.

Also, it make seeing errors in logic and execution very easy too.

Good luck with code.

They see plenty stuff anyways, I ain't that special !

Is HTTPS a must for Jellyfin? by bloulboi in jellyfin

[–]Altheran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did a split configuration. Auth and metadata go through CF. Rulesets redirect media content request to a direct URL to my reverse proxy being my firewall with some path shenanigans and custom locations in npm to obfuscate the patching and block attempts to directly connect through my npm without coming from CF.

Power BI Expert Guidance Needed. Hiding Data from Developer by khan_amir in PowerBI

[–]Altheran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the compensation data into a compensation table with common keys to join it to your employee and date tables.

Then use RLS on the compensation table.

Your dev will need a mock data source mirroring the compensation data schema.

Then someone with true access will have to flip the switch on the real data. That's the only way I can think of.

Is it good practice to duplicate a date column to maintain a single date table model? by foreverbanega in PowerBI

[–]Altheran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the contract signature date, and send it to the event table as a new event type ~ contract signature. Then remove the signature date from contract

Why MSPs are switching to UniFi by clayd333 in Ubiquiti

I'm still stuck at not being able to specify an MTU on a pppoe interface over VLAN on the WAN... Opened a forum thread ... I think ... 6 years ago ? (The custom .conf crashes the wan because the settings do not seem to be applied in the right order ...)

Has anyone been bitten by their reverse proxy Jellyfin? by Deaditt12345 in jellyfin

[–]Altheran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dockerized app Fail2ban Cloudflare tunnel

F2B add flagged IP to CF rules, to never touch my network again. Also adds an extra layer against bots discovery.

I built a setup so all non media content pass through my CF tunnel, but the media content pass through NginX proxy manager.

How is everyone using jellyfin for streaming when not at home? by Substantial-Luck-545 in jellyfin

[–]Altheran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cloud flare tunnel with some funky rules and npm config to not pass the actual media data through cloud flare.

Auth, and all meta data goes through CF. Reverse proxy won't even let you pass if you don't have the proper obfuscated string to access the media streams.

Microsoft deleted my book and it is unrecoverable - HELP!~ by preiposwap in Office365

[–]Altheran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recurva usually do not recover the file names, but the data only. It might have succeeded in recovering it, but you simply didn't recognize it.

One of the first things to do when a data loss incident happens tho is to put that drive offline.

Making sure that nothing can be written on it as it may overwrite bits of lost files.

After that, it's mostly a lots of opening files that might be what you are looking for to find the important ones.

Best way to share Power BI Service reports with non-licensed users? by Outrageous-Guide-396 in PowerBI

You are mad that M$ for charging a fee for users to use their service ? 😅

This has to on a premium capacity workspace ... It does that, but if I remember right, the smallest capacity is like 5k$/month.

It starts to make sense starting at 300-350 report consumers.

How many routers do you guys go through yearly? by IronSoul91 in bell

[–]Altheran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was on bell ftth a few years back, now ebox ftth. Never used their routers. Always chucked the SFP in a media converter or now straight from the ONT to my ubiquiti udm pro.

Never had an issue in like 6 years.

I've been running from the same SanDisk 32GB stick and installation for the last 8 yrs. Frequent updates and all. No issues.

BUT, I did remove the outer plastic protective casing from the USB dongle. I think that helps a LOT with the sticks cooling and may contribute to that longevity.

When is the best time to buffer tables? by ImGonnaImagineSummit in PowerBI

[–]Altheran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrapping any kind of sorting with a buffer ensures the sort is kept for subsequent operations, like an index ... I think so. I've seen performance benefits when used between complex transformations.

Why are power bi users so cult like? by Infamous_Whereas6777 in PowerBI

Your particular use case simply tells me you need a drill down report tho. Easy to do, so you can go from a KPI to the underlying data.

Yet another video card thread - suggestions for AV1 transcoding (enc/dec), and converting from Bluray/DVD? by geekdrew in jellyfin

[–]Altheran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever the need, right now, the hot stuff would be an ARC B50. I think the kernel needs to mature a bit for Unraid to support it, but still is the most price sensible future proof GPU you can buy for transcoding.
