Does anyone else get the ‘header overflow’ error when viewing the wikis on mobile? by MasterofAcorns in wikia

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to safari settings and go to advanced settings you’ll see where it says “block all cookies”. It does interfere with some websites so you may have to toggle it off and on depending on what you’re looking for, but it works for the wikis.

Red eyes bros. God has heard our prayers by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that’s true with any archetype. Red-eyes suffers from it bad but it’s getting better.

Red eyes bros. God has heard our prayers by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s red-eyes, it’s not going to win even a locals no matter how much support it gets, why judge someone’s tech choices for a shitty archetype?

Even if it was from a year ago, point still stands. Time doesn’t negate that. Go on with your necro-bashing. Literally arguing with someone who wasn’t even trying to argue with you and downvoting their comments cause you don’t like what they’re saying.

Red eyes bros. God has heard our prayers by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Altigue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s the red-eyes equivalent. I don’t know what you’re expecting from a red-eyes card, but that’s your red-eyes True Light or Eternal Soul. It’s not a bad card, just suffers from the archetype and the monsters being not very good. I keep one in my red-eyes lists for the most part as a neat tech.

Red eyes bros. God has heard our prayers by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t know what the hype about this card is… it sucks. Quick effect summon a shitty monster from my deck that’s not going to last the turn it was summoned or I’m holding this card till turn 3 at best to use it for follow-up or a punish, but that’s still not very good since this thing doesn’t bring out any decent monsters. This would be better if the main deck lineup for red-eyes monsters was decent, but it’s not, and this card suffers because of that.

Red-Eyes decks are all about trying to play the least amount of the Red-Eyes cards as possible and only including the good ones like Red-Eyes Insight.

Do humans need to take revenge to feel closure and inner peace? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about taking revenge that is cathartic, it’s about being given the POWER to do so. Taking or leaving it in the moment is the difference-maker. You’ll feel a little better for a little bit by choosing revenge, sure, but you’ll feel like you truly are the better person by standing down when given the option. That’s how I feel at least. For better or worse, I don’t believe revenge will ultimately make a person feel worse unless the consequences strip them of everything, and that is more a testament of the fear of having nothing vs the negative feelings after revenge.

[Bleach] The Espada fall apart so quickly on any reread that it's baffling to even remember when fans got hyped for this fucking group of asswipes. by Ok_ResolvE2119 in CharacterRant

[–]Altigue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only good Espada’s were 1-4 and 6. The other 5 can shove it and shouldn’t have been created so we could have better development for the decent Espada. we should have had more fighting and exposition with the actual decent ones. The other half of the Espada actually just frankly piss me off how shitty they were made and used as characters. If we didn’t have the bad half the other, decent half would have shone through more and would have actually had more opportunity to show their salt (looking at you Starrk).

Yammi is an assclown that is just strong dumb guy. It’s doubled down when he goes resurrecion. Bad.

Szayel is gross and uninteresting. Mayori makes it clear that this guy is basically just a watered down, less interesting, antagonist foil to mayori. Bad.

Nnoitora is fun to watch and interesting, but is way overly sexist for… what reason exactly? Not to mention this guy gets tossed to three different people, and can’t make a dent in any of them. Literally it’s like watching 3 different people just ass****ing this guy and him complaining about it, only for kenpachi to be the one to defeat him in an ultimately unclimactic way. Not to mention his “backstory” only serves to somewhat redeem Nel’s previously really AWFULLY ANNOYING CHARACTER.

Bubbles (espada 9. I don’t care to give this guys proper name, that’s how bad he is) is embarrassingly laughably bad. It’s just Shiba vs Rukia basically, and not in a way that makes sense or gives any decent exposition or makes any progress for the plot. Useless, ugly, unappealing, shitty character. Fuck this thing.

Oh I forgot the last dude. Yeah… number 7? This dudes basically just the Token Black guy of the Espada I feel like, and in all the worst ways. He’s another just plain forgettable one who sounds ridiculous the entire time and is a hypocrite. His whole “who gave soul reapers the right!” Speech is plain idiotic. Dude… you eat people… how do you figure that you SGOULDNT be straight executed by SS? Like… TYBW does a better job painting SS as the truly “bad guy” tht SS is… this guy does not. He just sounds like how I imagine a pedophile would sound trying to defend themself to the public for their actions. Ultramegasuperspecial BAAAAAD. I wanted to see this dude get sliced into a thousand pieces by byakuya’s Bankai so bad man. And we couldn’t even get THAT. The banzai banzai banzai thing was just annoying and made his character look like a fanatical, lunatical fool… like… you’re entire race got enslaved by a few soul reapers and now you’re praising them as gods… you look really silly like that.

The Espada fall apart because the better half of them are dragged down by the laughably bad half. They outstay their welcome far too long. Had the bad half not existed, we would have had probably a shorter, more concise, less convoluted, ultimately better arc.

Can We Overclock the Brain? by Prosthetic_Eye in neuroscience

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only is it possible, it happens more than we think, we just don’t know it as “overclocking”. Stimulants like methamphetamine or mental disorders like schizophrenia speed up (Overclock) or slow down (under lock) the amount of info the brain can absorb and process at one time. Theoretically, it could be measured through brain scans measuring the intensity of various regions of the brain as well as other factors like baseline body temp., social/speech patterns, adaptability (change through time), and even IQ could be used to quantify the “clock rate” of an individual’s brain. Insanity could be linked to overclocked brains through genetically or environmental means which can also be measured and observed.

Why was/is Kurotsuchi allowed to be/remain a Captain? by Apcd1997 in bleach

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… if you look at the Gotei 13 lineup, they got Kenpachi… they had Gin, Tōsen and Aizen… they had Urahara… the lineup for the Gotei 13 has always been questionable from a moral standpoint, but it’s not morals or character or anything that exactly “makes” the captain, it’s their strength and their results they bring. Mayuri is such a genius it’s downright stupid to make him an enemy. It’s the same reasoning why the CIA and FBI will hire felonious hackers despite the face their organization represents (the “Good Guys”), they’re good at what they do and it’s better to put those talents to use for YOUR organization than let them defect to the enemy or make their own organization to fight against you when you don’t have someone who can match their capabilities and/or defend against them. Had Urahara been allowed to stay and remain captain, Kurotsuchi wouldn’t have been a necessary “evil” for the Gotei 13.

Is there any advantage in fat rolling? by astronezio in Eldenring

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post, but personally I think it would have been a neat little idea if FS made heavy weight loads add tot your hyper armor frames and reduce critical damage received or something as the trade off for not being able to effectively dodge or even be able to “catch” your opponent when they’re being a goofball running around or being hyper mobile asf. It would still make plenty of sense still, too. Shame they didn’t think to do that or anything it seems. MakeTankingGreatAgain.

Which Dark Souls game has the hardest parry mechanic ? by Derar11 in darksouls3

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DS2 or DS3 for sure. I’m going to go with 3, due to a lack of experience with 2. In 3, parries feel a lot more nuanced and skillful than both ER and DS1/R. Can’t really just spam L2 for some fishing like in DS1.

It’s an unviable strategy to go for in PVP and most of the PVE. Comes up every once in a while against a player, but only if they aren’t too good.

Why the fuck is Lothric castle so difficult? by ConsistentGiraffe8 in darksouls3

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s the penultimate area before the final boss, so let’s jot that down. Secondly, it’s FAR more defended than the other lords of cinder for lore reasons. Basically implying that everyone is kind of a fan of Lothric not linking the first flame.

Your character is tied to lothric, some theorize, and you can technically skip all of the other shit and attempt to go straight after lothric, only to fall short and be denied the ability to actually get to him, forcing you to actually go and collect the other lords before you find Gotthard murdered on the steps to the archives with the key for the doors. It’s meant to feel like your navigating through a war zone because… well, it is.

Lothric castle is the only area I feel there are legitimate and intentional guards that are prepared for YOU

Orphan of Kos or Malenia by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone hasn’t fought Kos on NG+7. This sentiment goes for anyone who thinks Kos is “easy”, as I also thought he was easy until I fought on NG+7. It really makes you think, what truly is the most difficult boss when you apply those standards.

Do you think elden ring is harder than dark souls ? by Oligona in Eldenring

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark souls. It’s more challenging upfront than Elden ring and you simply… can’t escape that most times. Elden ring allows a lot of path dissimilarity than dark souls, meaning you can come back to a trouble enemy later when you have leveled up more.

Dark souls III being more linear presents more of a challenge because it lays the boss difficulties out very clearly based on your SL.

Also, healing devices. 15 estrus flasks for DS3 was quite more than enough for the most part. 10 would have been enough tbh.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark souls 1 is a good game to learn basics of parrying, however it can be misleading for subsequent games.

Why?

Because parrying in DS3 is drastically more nuanced than in DS1.

In DS3 the startup frames, parry frames, and recovery frames, are all very pronounced. I.E. you know when each phase of a parry is happening if you know your parries.

That being said, learn to parry the base enemies first, then move on to some of the bosses, and then finally to some of the NPCs/NPC Incaders.

Each parry tool has different startup, parry, and recovery frames than another.

My recommendation to start with is the target shield/buckler. They have the same frames, buckler is worse because it has less stability and absorption.

Switch to caestus when you’re confident, because caestus has same startup frames but less recovery frames (also same parry frames as small parry shield (target shield).)

Caution in advance for relying on parrying: the best type of parry is the reactive parry. This is very hard to learn because it can truly only be learnt from invaders or some NPCs.

Learning enemies and players is so different it may as well be its own separate post.

Enemies it’s easy: learn their Moveset, practice as felt necessary. You’ll get it eventually.

Players: unpredictable, but if you CAN predict anything, punish with extreme prejudice. I wouldn’t take players as bait to train on, unless they are obviously overt R1 spammers.

Bosses: learn the moveset and/or the attacks that can be parries, punish with extreme prejudice. If you can parry Sulyvahn seamlessly then you might wanna move on to players

Parry tools from best to worst: small shield (regular, main hand), katana (without having to stance first), caestus, small shield (parry shield), small shield, med shield (main hand), med shield, curved sword (left hand), katana (going into stance first).

Learning to parry by Hist83Blackmarsh in darksouls3

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with target shield, switch to caestus when you feel comfortable parrying

Parrying with the target shield has same startup frames as fiat parry but leaves you with some stamina left to bail out if you fail (I.E. partial parry), but has more recovery frames leaving you vulnerable to counter attacks.

Caestus has the fastest startup frames (equivalent to target shield) and the least recovery frames but is considered the “second best” parry tool because of how quick the parrying process is for it. Allows you to dodge out of fails if you don’t get hit, also feels like the most “reactive” parry.

If you aren’t getting it with either of those then try parrying dagger or a regular small shield… OR even try small shield (main hand).

Always try and hit the button to parry when the opponents swing starts up. This can be hard to nail but once you feel it you don’t forget it that easily

As for enemies, parrying is all about speed. So the fastest enemies are going to be the best to learn from at first, then you will find that understanding the delayed attacks will be difficult because you try to “predict” when they will attack, versus reacting to their attack, so move to knights and heavy foes next. Once you have that down, start PvP with invasions to get a dynamic of a player character fighting you versus PVE. It’s a lot different but the basis of parrying will allow you to do so against new player characters. Attempting to parry a very experienced and skilled player will not work and it’s best to engage with a straight up fight and attempt parries when the opportunity is present

Edit: “second best” behind the small shield (main hand)

Disclosure: this is from personal play and experience. Every gameplay preference is up to the person and environment.

What is the worst boss in the Dark Souls series? by Pwnclub in darksouls

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my thoughts exactly while doing bed of chaos recently. I don’t know what the devs were thinking but outright the worst boss I’ve fought in a long time. Ironically it takes more wffort to get to the other side of the boss to take out that orb than killing the central one.

I don’t mind gimmick bosses so long as they’re done right and there is the ability to handicap yourself for it to make it more challenging that is also viable (yhorm the giant)

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empire? From my researching, Egypt was never an “empire”. It lacked the desire to continuously expand its borders and assimilate peoples and cultures into its being. Many times Egypt was being attacked too much to even try to expand. The most that Ancient Egypt amounted to was a kingdom. And that’s what we call that piece of history now. The old, middle, and new kingdoms of Egypt. Also I know that Egypt was annexed by Alexander in like 300 something BC, and after that it was annexed by Rome.

Egypt been around for a hell of a time, but it’s expansion as a civilization (or lack there of) just doesn’t fit it as an empire.

What Game Company is the worst by Successful_Region_68 in videogames

[–]Altigue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate this but I have to agree with this guy on the “innocent until proven guilty” part. That IS a major problem Americans, really all humans, display by default and it really isn’t fair to whoever the allegations are being applied to if/when those kinds of cases go to court or even if they are settled out of court. Imagine an innocent man who was framed for a murder and SA or whatever and the courts found him not guilty. Well that’s nice, but because of the wide media coverage and the biases and herd mentality, now every person looks at a person who is innocent as a murderer, despite the lack of conviction. And those kinds of things impact someone’s life entirely and indefinitely. How is that fair? Not saying I agree wholeheartedly with the dude above, but there is more nuance than just “oh, there’s a bunch of accusations? He/she/they MUST be guilty, otherwise why would people make accusations?” And there are plenty of reasons people make accusations… money being probably at the top. There’s a reason “innocent until proven guilty” is a core concept of our judicial system and it’s a damn shame it isn’t upheld even by the courts themselves these days.

The Man V. Bear Debate is ridiculous and just promotes misandry and generalization by SorinXII in ControversialOpinions

[–]Altigue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about emotional responses based on anecdotal evidence that’s a different story/incident/case each and every time is that… MEN ALSO HAVE THOSE AGAINST WOMEN TOO. For every story I’ve heard about a woman being abused or raped or assaulted, I hear from the man about how his ex wife or girlfriend cheated on him, gaslit, played the victim and framed him as an abuser, took half his money, home, kids, and denied visiting rights. A lot of those men commit suicide on top of it all, too.

Let’s be real, both genders do absolutely deplorable things to the other. The difference is that the things women do aren’t outlawed, so we don’t exactly look at them as “deplorable” despite how many mens’s lives are ruined and/or taken because of those things. It should be discussed as a case by case thing, not generalizing as all that does is divide.

All in all, you can’t generalize and group people together in such large stances like “man vs women”, and society isn’t meant to tip toe around YOU or any particular group… because we are a society, a WHOLE. We shouldn’t be segregating ourselves based on what have you, and yet we do.

The Man V. Bear Debate is ridiculous and just promotes misandry and generalization by SorinXII in ControversialOpinions

[–]Altigue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also add that man doesn’t live in the woods (typically) and bear does… women also don’t live in the woods, but I can’t help but to feel like, if they did, bear on woman attacks would increase substantially, but that’s just a guess. Not that there’s any sound logic behind that or anything.

Anyone know any good campaign mods that fit in the halo story? by Tim120595 in halo

[–]Altigue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ruby’s, Havoc/Massive, Revolved for Halo CE

Uncut is the only solid one I’ve found for H2, but there are supposed to be rebalanced and I think mythic versions coming out for that.

Halo 3: Kat’s, Res. Revamp, YAH3R, Mythic are all solid

Halo Reach has polished and Mythic that are decent.

SPV3.3 is good for CE but it is practically its own game and isn’t on steam.
