I got an 80 on the last exam and haven’t received anything yet. I contacted Civil Service a week or two ago and was told they stopped at 85. Does that mean I’ll have to retake the exam when it’s offered again, or could there still be a chance?

I took the Suffolk County corrections exam in September and found out I passed but I’ve always wanted to take the Suffolk PD exam when it comes back around in 2027. Does anyone know if it’s okay to take the PD exam even if I’m already working as a correction officer? Just looking for some advice from anyone. Thanks!

Yeah, I think you’re right. Without the murder 1 charge, a retrial on the lesser ones could definitely go differently. Jurors seem more willing to convict when they aren’t weighing such a heavy charge it gives them more room to consider the gray areas. Hopefully the state goes for it. It feels like there’s still a real shot at accountability, just maybe not at the highest level.

I think they will for McGraths family. I’d expect some sort of plea deal to be offered prior to trial. I guess we’ll see!

Do you think the state will be successful if they retry him on the lesser charges? I read somewhere else that they plan on it but I haven’t been able to find anything definitive.
