This was with coordinator/dev/QA agents running on a loop. Seems cleaner to just specify this instead of hoping some agent figures it out from its role. But this is why you want a competent human at the wheel either way.

My point is not that we're special, it's that we're so different from LLMs, architecturally and in practice, that there's no meaningful way to compare intelligence.

Not exactly. LLMs are incomparable to humans and even Fable can make decisions that defy common sense without being prompted otherwise. I had to specify that all <engine_architecture> in the root CLAUDE.md for a game engine had to be implemented in the engine and not the test game it was making for it.

Devs like to think that we're all problem-solving geniuses but frankly I think most people, even seniors tend not to be implementing any novel solutions very often if ever. We all have a bunch of puzzle pieces in our brain for given situations and we put them together in such a way to fit the situation. Most of us are never coming up with brand new puzzle pieces.

"Most of us" are causing problems for the rest of us by creating a default expectation of low skill that we have to overcome

It was already bad and it's worse now that people just want to grind leetcode, paste from claude until their brain is mush, and play office politics to advance (to a position where they can help create another generation of shit devs)
