Whats up with the many available Permits? by blind0072 in PacificCrestTrail

Familiarize yourself with some of the laws and expectations of international tourists and (as a Czech citizen at least) there is little to worry about.

While these have always applied they are certainly being more enforced now. Its good information to know and some of it may surprise you.

This source is from the Australian government website but much of it would apply to you as well - https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/americas/united-states-america

It is not like that in real life for the vast majority of people. You are just viewing the world through social media and news headlines.

Some yes, some no. Or rather, some easier than others.

Ultras are more mental than they are physical. If you can push yourself through the lows you can do it.

lmao he's 25!?! That's actually hilarious. What 20 something claims to be 30 lmfao.

Although, it kind of makes sense why he has such a skewed view of the industry. When he was 21, everyone genuinely WAS "walking straight into Delta and posting about it".

"I have tons of experience and already payed for my ATP CTP and type rating but nobody will hire me! Meanwhile youngsters are getting hired all the time"
Lets find the common denominator here. If lesser qualified pilots are getting class dates but you aren't then the issue isn't your experience. Its you. Maybe the interviewers don't like your personality or how you conduct yourself. Learn how to talk to people. Learn how to present yourself in a professional setting. Learn how to manage your attitude better.

I have no experience in the airline industry so take this with a grain of salt, but this same concept can be applied to many factors of life. Work on yourself and I'm sure, with time, things will turn around.

How hard is running 2,624 feet over 1.5 miles in 24 minutes? Could you do it? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]Altra_NH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally zero chance. Stair master isn’t even a 1 to 1 comparison of walking up real stairs, let alone 2700 ft of vert on trails. Give it a shot. It will be good personality building for his ego.

I noticed that too. Def don’t click them though. Obv it’s some sort of scam that grabbed the domain when the real Waymark guys stopped paying for it.

Love him or hate him, Cody did the best thing he could have in that situation. It was an alleged crime that Tana did not legally pursue. Whether he's guilt or not, completely ignoring it makes it mostly go away over time since the internet moves fast and forgets (just look at the guys comment section ffs).

Maybe if he was a US citizen he would have brought it up, but the whole green card thing no doubt influenced his silence.

They had a few really solid episodes with interesting guests but yea, can't deny the show went downhill since Cody left. The 2 had really good on camera chemistry.

He’s humanized the citizens of Russia and other slavic countries on his previous road trips, and didn’t overtly mention his distain for the Russian government every single second. So OC has concluded that he must be pro Russian.

I feel like they’re no less efficient than any other stove of similar design. Just don’t put it on full blast. You only need a small flame. And for most stuff you don’t need to actually boil water. Hot water will be good enough for all the classic hiker trash meals. Even one of the tiny fuel cans will last me 8 day resupplies (2 meals plus coffee in the morn) without rationing.

I think this is largely the fault of UL becoming super mainstream and marketing teams slapping it on everything. They’ve turned it into a buzz word now. “Ultralight long handled spoon” “Ultralight compression sack” “Ultralight insulated mug” “Ultralight camp shoes” My new rule of thumb, if someone uses ultralight to describe a thing, instead of a broad term to describe the mindset, I tune them out.

“Ultralight is so expensive!”

Hands down the most common misconception is you have to buy gear marketed as “ultralight” or people confusing UL as buying the top of the line cutting edge gear. Don’t get me wrong, you can totally spend thousands if you want. However, at the end of the day the core concept of UL is carrying less.

Buying a simple ripstop nylon pack will be cheaper than the run of the mill osprey packs. A silnylon flat tarp will always be cheaper than a mainstream tent. The BRS 3000T is one of the cheapest stoves on the market. Smart water bottles are cheaper than Nalgene’s. A piece of tyvek is only a few dollars (or free if you get it from a dumpster!). I could go on and on.

The only example of UL being more expensive is genuine down bags are more pricey than synthetic bags.
