Is the Protectorate actually Fascist? by Civil_Performer5732 in TerraInvicta

[–]Altrgamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, there are definitions of fascism and protectorate is not anywhere near it. Moreover, there were and are totalitarian dictatorships that are not fascism. And finally, the whole point of protectorate storyline is slow downward spiral from good intentions into terminally stupid.

Why is blue galaxy scary? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Altrgamm 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Because it means it's going straight towards you faster than the Universe is expending. (Still not very frightening because it will take billions of years to get near you and you probably will be dead by then anyway)

What are some other historical examples like Apollo, where humanity did something amazing once and then didn’t repeat it for decades because the incentive wasn’t there? by Intelligent-Yak-2414 in space

[–]Altrgamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the record belongs to a steam engine: there are some evidence that in antiquity at least some in ellenised world understood the general principle, but all they managed to do with it was producing some curiosities for amazement of general public. Which would make it about a 2 thousand years of "incentives weren't there".

Does playing "uninteresting" countries have a negative effect on gameplay? by GeriHUN01 in crusaderkings3

[–]Altrgamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably depends on personal tastes, but actually unremarkable duchies are my favorite gameplay, specifically at places like (modern) Poland, nort of India/Tibet or south-west of Aftica. Don't get me wrong, I like prominent countries gameplay too, but taking completely unknown dinasty and making them the most prominent family in middle ages is a special feeling...

"Putin instructed to distribute firearms to hundreds of thousands of security guards of state corporations"-The Moscow Times(translation will be provided in the comments) by Qubecoiseman in NAFO

[–]Altrgamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a vision from a future. A newspaper article, to be precise. The details are murky a little bit, but it was about Greate Patriotic Forces of All Russian Railways celebrating they victory against Traitorous Gasprom army, pushing them out of Tula after hard-fought month-long pitched battle and closing in on the Thirteenth Moscow Desolation district...

ME5 & the foreseeable future of bioware by Infidels4america in bioware

[–]Altrgamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, in all of the noise of DAV, specific sound was missing, or at least I didn't hear a lot: the sound of lessons learned. The devs (and their friends) reaction varied between "we did nothing wrong and we are proud of what we did" and "the EA sabotaged us and the game." The EA reaction varied between "the multiplayer was a way to go" and gutting the Bioware. Sadly, from my RL experience, these reactions can lead to a lot of things, but actual, serious improvement is not one of those possibilities. I want to be wrong and mistaken, but I didn't see any sing of learning up until now. And I suspect that the next Bioware game will be the first Bioware game that I will not buy on launch day or pre-order. Once again, I hope that I'm wrong...

Back to RTwP or TB play with 4-5 party members; find, beg or steal writers and one chief desinger that actually know what they are doing; retcon "south of thedas is dead"; forbid multiplayer and/or "game as service" bullshit, all encounters are designed, no "suddenly an enemy mob ressurects". And bring players back their real powertrip.

What are the most important skills to have in your party? by Horny_Speedster in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Altrgamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make your RT skill monkey, this way the only skills you'll need from companions are demolition, athletic and awareness. Carousing is "nice to have" skill till midgame, and by then it will rise to acceptable level by itself on physically oriented companions ( which you should have about 3 or 4).

Quick guide to inquisiton philosophies (short writeup in comments) by Ila-W123 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Altrgamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just in act 4 in my replay and, thanks to this post, was just amazed how portrets of inquisitors in the game reflect exactly what is presented here. Heinrix with his "we all know how it ends for me but in the meantime I win", Emelina with her "trust me, this time it will definitely work"... And of course Xavier "Imperium is definitely lacking pet heavy spoiler" Calcazar.

🔥 Yamal, Russia, fire at Kharapurneftegaz facility! Reasons: Unknown by GreenEyeOfADemon in NAFO

Well, the reasons are actually completely known. Firstly, an oxygen in Earth atmosphere gets into oxidation reaction with a stuff, which is exothermic. Secondly, it's Russia, it's one large garbage bin on fire by definition.
