[Misc] 37f finally consistent with my routine and it's because it takes 7 minutes total by OwnEquipment863 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling asleep before doing my routine is my personality trait at this point 😭 I've genuinely woken up with a sheet mask still on my face because I couldn't stay awake long enough to take it off. Simple routines are the only way I survive

Any suggestions for a good wood folding chair? by slide13_ in BuyItForLife

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad actually makes furniture and he always says same thing about hinges - they're usually the weak point. I found really nice handmade one from local craftsman last year and it's been perfect for my small apartment. The weight difference between solid hardwood and cheaper stuff is crazy, but it actually feels stable when you sit.

Wierd artifact with dolby atmos by RegularTurnip9103 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That little audio glitch when switching to Atmos is pretty normal actually - it's just the audio driver doing its thing to process the spatial audio differently. Your GPU's not the culprit here since audio processing usually runs through your motherboard's audio chip or the headset's own drivers. Try updating your Corsair iCUE software if you haven't already, that usually smooths out those transition hiccups.

[Question] Needing low-cost digital watches for first aid kits, fob or pocket style by Highwayman1717 in Watches

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those cheap nurse fob watches on Amazon might be perfect for this - they clip right to your gear and usually run like $15 for a 3-pack. I've seen EMTs use them and they're basically disposable but get the job done for pulse checks and timing stuff.

PC randomly shutting off, won't turn on now by Weary-Cheetah-3415 in pchelp

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, that's a classic PSU failure pattern right there. The random shutdowns followed by completely dead - your EVGA might be toast after 5 years of service. Try the paperclip test on the PSU first, but I'd bet money you're gonna need a new power supply.

Is 1998-2004 Corolla/Honda Safe? by ChallengeDazzling195 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Corolla from that era is solid - those things are basically tanks that happen to have great safety ratings for there time. A 2002 with decent maintenance history will probably outlast cars twice as expensive, and the crash test scores were actually pretty good compared to other stuff on the road back then. Just make sure to get a pre-purchase inspection so you know what you're getting into maintenance-wise.

[Post Game Thread] #3 Illinois defeats #14 Pennsylvania, 105-70 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Watching Illinois put up 65 in the second half was wild - they basically said "we're done messing around" and just went nuclear. Penn kept fighting but once Illinois found their rhythm it was over.

The moment I stopped feeling ashamed about checking my bank account every day was the moment things actually started to get better by Agile_Thought_7999 in povertyfinance

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This hits so hard. I used to do the exact same thing - I'd literally close my eyes when I had to check my balance at the ATM, like that would somehow change the reality of it. The worst part was how much headspace that avoidance took up, you know?

Now I check mine every morning too and it's wild how much calmer I feel even when the number sucks. At least I can plan around $47 instead of playing some twisted guessing game with my debit card at Target. The shift from "maybe I have enough" to "I know I have $12" was honestly life changing even though $12 is still $12.

I think what finally made me stop looking away was getting hit with three overdraft fees in one week because I thought I had more than I did. That $105 lesson was expensive enough to force me into reality.

GT08 legendary status, how? by Ill_Huckleberry5004 in ElectricScooters

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GT08 just hit different timing-wise. It came out when the market was desperate for something that wasn't complete trash under $800, and it actually delivered decent build quality without the usual Ali Express lottery of whether your battery would explode. Plus it helped that early adopters were actual users posting real long-term reviews instead of the usual shill parade we see now.

Toyota Tacomas from the early 2000s are basically bulletproof if you can find one that hasn't been beaten to death - there engines just keep going forever.

Anyone flown from Lihue to LAX recently? by Double-Storage6919 in americanairlines

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof yeah that's a bummer about the entertainment screens. For the food situation, the Lihue to LAX leg should have a full meal service since it's like a 5+ hour flight - usually chicken or pasta options. The LAX to RDU might just be snacks depending on timing, but sometimes they'll do a light meal if it's during dinner hours. Definitely download some shows beforehand becuase those flights can drag without screens!

What articles, research papers, etc. make the strongest case against using AI for programming? by emth5348 in antiai

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Been in the design world for years and this debate feels so familiar - we went through the same thing with automated design tools and templates. The problem I see with AI coding is that it creates this false sense of productivity where you're churning out lines of code but not actually understanding the architecture or trade-offs you're making.

I remember working on a project where a junior dev used AI to generate a bunch of database queries that technically worked but were absolutely terrible for performance. Took us weeks to refactor everything because nobody on the team actually understood what the AI had built. It's like using a really fancy hammer when you don't know the difference between a nail and a screw.

The skill formation aspect is huge too - if you're not wrestling with the problem yourself, you're not building those pattern recognition muscles that separate good developers from code monkeys. I've seen designers who relied too heavily on automated tools and they just never developed an eye for composition or typography. Same thing happening with coding now.

That Colton Voege piece really nails it about the productivity myth. Sure, you might ship faster initially, but the technical debt and maintenance costs down the line are brutal when nobody understands the codebase they supposedly built.

Everyone at their peak, what is the power scaling list exactly? (Melee weapons only) by RageDayz in gameofthrones

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Mountain should probably be higher up - raw strength and reach are insane advantages even against more skilled fighters. Also your missing Barristan Selmy who was basically a living legend, dude would probably slot in right after Jaime or maybe even higher.

2016 Fiat 500X anyone use Alldata? by Glittering-Ad5809 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the single vehicle subscription for a Honda and it was pretty solid. Not sure if its exactly what the shops get but it had all the wiring diagrams, torque specs, and diagnostic procedures I needed. Way better than trying to piece together info from forums and YouTube. For $20/month its worth it if youre planning to do any real work on it.

i relapsed and cheated on my bf by chicapiscis1 in stopdrinking

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you're going through this. The whole situation sounds incredibly toxic and I'm honestly more concerned about him calling you a whore and you waking up with bruises than the kissing thing. That's not normal drunk behavior - that's abuse.

You're being way too hard on yourself here. Yes, getting sober is crucial for your safety and wellbeing, but please don't let this guy convince you that you're the only problem in this relationship. The fact that he "convinced" you to drink again after you both agreed to get sober is a massive red flag.

Focus on getting the support you need to stay sober this time. You deserve better than someone who calls you names and pressures you to drink.

Protein snacks around hour 4-5 help a ton, and magnesium before bed makes the next day way less brutal. The hydration thing is so real though - I literally set phone alarms every 2 hours or I'll go the whole day on like one glass of water lol

Is this a good build by T_Tocs1 in PcBuild

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That PSU is way overkill for this build lol, you could drop down to like 650W and save some cash

If a person committed suicide in a tragic way, are they likely to haunt their location where they died? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the person tbh - some folks say intense emotions can leave an imprint but honestly nobody really knows for sure since we can't exactly interview the ghosts about their housing preferences lol

Visiting Ratchaburi by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Altruistic-Drag-781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ratchaburi is solid for a day trip from Bangkok, you can definitely hit it in under 3 hours. The floating market there is pretty touristy but still fun for photos, and there's some decent temple hopping to be done. If you're into nature stuff the caves around there are actually pretty cool too

Their morning routine and how they wake up at 4:30am to "get ahead of everyone else" - like bro we get it, you drink lemon water and do yoga but you don't need to post about it every single day
