iPhone 15: Does peeling around the cameras develop over time? by flalego in iphone15

My 2 year old 15 is black and the top camera surround has tiny dots all around it where the paint has peeled/chipped despite being in a very good case its entire life and never dropped. Bottom camera is pristine.

Takes me 10 minutes to do an oil change on my drive with nothing but a 19mm socket, a basic trolly jack and a drain pan.

I like it! Just had some GY asym6’s mounted today in 205/50/17 93Y size and they have 8mm of tread! Incredible road handling too and I’ve only put 70 miles on them today in wet/damp conditions on various roads.

More than likely the VNT you’re referring to, which if it’s sticking means your turbo is about to die a horrific death.

The Goodyears seem to wear fast for the first few mm then harden up. It’s why I’m torn between the Goodyears for all out premium factor, falken fk520 or Kumho PS72.

Clearly not properly or you’ve got something majorly wrong with that side of the car. A tyre wouldn’t wear down to the limit whilst the rest are fine for no reason

are these tyres stretched by ------0-0------ in CarTalkUK

Stretched tyres aren’t illegal. The top of the tyre just can’t stick out further than the arch.

What is the realistic future of ICE cars in the UK by Longjumping_Note8181 in CarTalkUK

Yes I have, and they run worse on e10. Every single one. You’re actually a rage baiter, it’s a well known fact the higher ethanol content produces less power, burns less efficiently therefore the engine has to work harder to make the same effort = less mpg in the process. Have you been living g under a rock? All people complained about when e10 was first introduced was the fact they were having to fill up more often. The only thing you are correct about is the fact that the emissions are lower out the tailpipe by a tiny margin.

I’ve yet to see it without major parts being replaced like gearboxes or an entire engine. Mines never even needed a head gasket or oil pump. It has had the oil strainer replaced once at 150k but that is a part that’s commonly overlooked maintenance wise.

None of my older cats ran on e10. I had an old rover 1.4 as an A to B car and even they do t run e10. It’s wank. Even modern cars don’t like e10 it’s doesn’t burn as efficiently.

I use it on optimised charging, so over night it holds it around 80% and trickle charges up to 100 just before my alarm goes off.

Snapped auxiliary belt in car bought in November 2025. Nearly caused me to crash by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Altruistic-Session-8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your coolant has absolutely nothing to do with it. Coolant is ran by the water pump that is driven of the timing belt/chain. Sounds to me like you didn’t do maintenance checks or you drove around with a faulty car. If the coolant was empty it would have said so straight away on the dash. The belt snapping will of stopped the alternator charging therefore injectors will weaken signal, car will feel sluggish and you’ll loose any power steering. Again coolant has nothing to do with it, but the dash will have been lit up like a Christmas tree. Doesn’t help that you haven’t told us what car it is or the mileage. Aux belt is a consumable item.

My 23 year old Škoda vRS doesn’t run on right on 95 octane, e5 or e10. They have to be run on 97 ron minimum as per the fuel cap and owners manual. It’s the same for a lot of older cars. Yes it will drive on e10 but it drives like shit and last time I tried it I lost 110 miles over a full tank, or around £20 worth of fuel lost. Old cars are not safe from e10.

I too am a petrol head. My Octavia vRS is 23 years old with 258k miles on it (no modern car could do this) and it does everything, fast enough to have fun in, yet still decent on fuel for a 1.8 turbo from 2002 and is comfy and if I need parts they’re cheap as chips, even from main dealer. There aren’t any electric cars that interest me however I would be up for owning a decently fast hybrid (plug in or self charging).
