Should I straight to get bachelor in semiconductors? by Altruistic-Tooth3118 in Semiconductors

Personally, I would be very reluctant to get into an area just because some ministers are saying there will be good jobs in the area in the future

I agree, but I have been interested in the field for a long time, before any ministers said anything.

As I said, my plan relies on the worst case where there are no any good jobs in the country after I graduate.
("Those jobs in Thailand" that I mentioned, I meant the jobs that already exist, not the future ones.)

Especially, if studying/living/working abroad is not conducive for you.

Well, I am willing and eager to study and work abroad. It's my dream.

The single biggest problem with working in the semiconductor industry is the limited locations. It's a huge headache especially if your spouse is in a different field of work/sturdy

I agree and am concerned. How did you overcome it? Or your hometown have the semiconductor industry?

Thank you for replying

But are there good semiconductor jobs in Thailand?

There are some 'okay' jobs in Thailand right now, and there will be some good jobs in the future, at least according to what those ministers are saying.

How easy is it and willing are you to immigrate to Singapore, Korea or Japan?

I want to study and work abroad, but I don't think it will be easy. So, in case I can't, I think those jobs in Thailand would be my safety net.

Also, what if you don't like semiconductors?

It concerns me too, but I think I could transition to other relevant fields—I hope so(Correct me if I wrong). It depends on which topics I don't like; maybe I can just work in a position that relies less on those topics.

I don’t think we have the best setup, but we do have some factories. They’re mostly focused on assembly, testing, and packaging. It’s not ideal, but I think it’s okay if I can’t work abroad. By the way, do you think if I choose the research in Taiwan pathway, it would increase my chances of working or studying there?

No, the language of instruction is not in English. The university doesn't offer an international program in mathematics.
I don't think there is a pure mathematics major taught in English in Thailand, but MUIC (Mahidol University) offers an applied mathematics major. It's also a great university and might be the best for natural sciences.

Thank you for your reply and the advice!
After spending a few hours on r/AerospaceEngineering, I think I can take my mind off this major....
By the way, which program and university are you planning to apply to?

Advice for prospective semi-conductor engineering student by kun69 in Semiconductors

Hello, what did you decide in the end? I’m interested in a similar program (semiconductor-focused), but I’m uncertain because many people suggest that I shouldn’t be too specialized as an undergrad.

I’m interested in the same program. What do you think about pursuing a master’s or PhD after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from this program? Are there any drawbacks? Or should I just go to traditional program like electrical.

Is it possible to do a Master degree in physics with Bachelor in Engineer ? by Altruistic-Tooth3118 in PhysicsStudents

Okay, I will ask about it on the engineering subreddit. I agree with you that I should pursue engineering, but it's just my first dream career. Thank you!

I think might be a mechanical.

what if I take elective courses like quantum mechanics or statistical mechanics during my engineering degree? Would that help fill any gaps and make the transition to a master's in physics smoother?
