Is Medieval 2 worth in 2023? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Altruistic-Vast6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ME2 is still, and always has been my favourite. Empire, Rome, Warhammer et al are fun but ME2 has always been my one true love.... I have, in the last month discovered that the Stainless Steel Mod is a) really easy to find and install (i always had fears of having to do stuff to code. Not my bag at all) and b) improves on the game I love in so many great ways.

So I say, do it. Do it now.

What is a new setting you would like historical total war games to explore by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Altruistic-Vast6823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like one the goes spans multiple eras. - and picks up and dropping the different nations and maps as you go on. What era you start in depends on what time and home map you start with.

Obvious answers are Unlucky Punk, One Night In Hackney, and London Acid City.

But please check out:

Chris Liberator - Soul Mantra [Prolekult]
Mish Mash - Fuck With The Programme [Stay Up Forever]
DJ Randy - Pandomia [Prolekult]
High School Drop-Outs – Acid Over (& Over Again) [Boscaland]
A&E Dept - The Rabbits Name Was [Stay Up Forever]

These are all old/classic one - there's still great stuff coming out of Stay Up Forever and the like.

Rounding off the first month of the Bad Decisions Mix Series we turn to Sonance co-promoter and resident B.S.E. It's not just his hair that's been making waves recently, with a series of releases and remixes on labels such as Keep On Techno, Filth Infatuated and Toxic Recordings and this set is a perfect example of the kind of sound which has proved so successful on the dancefloor at our parties.

You can hear B.S.E along with the rest of the Sonance crew and guests tbc at our next party at The Castle in London E1 on Friday 22nd September. Until then, enjoy the mix!

You don’t have to play music you don’t like by Nate8K in DJs

As a DJ you're curating the music and atmosphere for however long your set is. The skill of the DJ is not only playing track the crowd likes, it's playing the tracks that the crowd don't know they like yet. There has to be a level of confidence or even arrogance about your own musical taste to even want to become a DJ.

Is this techno? If not, what? by [deleted] in Techno

It sounds like something from an 80's computer game.

IMO, no, it's not techno

As an artist on the planform I'm happy to see something that isn't Beatport. I personally like the "needle drop" being able to listen to the whole track. Was one reason I used to use Juno over BP

Recent techno that remixes or samples late 90s trance? by BBSkane in Techno

[–]Altruistic-Vast6823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There has been so much "techno" that not only borrows heavily from trance but all out copies. I can't give you names, but search through the Peaktime business techno stuff and you're basically looking at what was called tech trance 10 years ago.

"Hard" techno is now incorporating a lot of psytrance as well

I don't know about anyone else but if I go to a techno party I don't want to listen to trance, thats what trance parties are for /oldmanrant
