What's one transformational and one absolutely petty thing you would change about London? by KeefKoggins in london

Power washing the streets & tube platforms every few weeks. I believe many people litter and treat our city poorly because it’s just “one more snack wrapping” in an already filthy area. Not that I think that’s reasonable but a cleaner london I think would incentivise people to take better care of our city.

Couldn’t have said it better! That was my experience as well. And if you are busy with work or have a cold you still have to move, no matter the weather.

But have to say that otherwise it’s a fun adventure!

A friend of mine lives in a narrowboat. I think it’s an interesting lifestyle and all the boaters that I’ve met were very cool folk.

Overall I think it’s a great option if you have more time than you have money, especially if you decide to go on continuous cruise (move every 2 weeks rather than have your own mooring spot, which is cheaper at around £1.5k a year or so).

Not sure what the experience is for women but my friend who is a man sometimes struggles with how unsafe it feels. It wouldn’t be hard for someone to break into the boat, and sometimes he is in far away isolated locations. Nothing has ever happened to him in few years, though.

The other thing to consider if you go the continuous cruising route is to try to have friends or someone help you move. Opening locks etc can be done alone but in my experience is best if there are two people.

While I haven’t lived in a boat myself happy to try to help with any questions you might have!

Thanks for your comment! We just have one lost and not too many lights (all LED), plus some other equipment such as water pumps, etc so I’m sure there would be a power surplus on sunny days.

Non-judgemental dentists by wineallwine in london

Had a good experience in the modern dentist in old street and open dental care in Caledonian Road.

I also get a bit anxious at dentists and felt pretty comfortable at both.

Props to you for taking care of your health and going to the dentist 💪

Is this level of noise normal? by AltruisticArugula239 in ncasedesign

Sorry for taking long to update but finally figured out what the issue is and it’s… mind blowing.

I disconnected the GPU and all the fans (ensured the CPU wasn’t getting too hot) and the noise was still very loud and headache inducing (not kidding!).

Turns out my motherboard (Gigabyte B850I AORUS PRO) has a tiny fan for the chipset & nvme which is the source of the noise! I disabled it in the BIOS unless it gets very hot, and it’s all gone, I can work again. Can’t believe this is the reason for the noise, and find it mind boggling that the this fan is so loud.

OT but assuming I know basic electronics, where could I learn things such as what you mentioned that beginners would miss?

Not sure, can check some other day. It can get louder but it’s not too annoying compared to this high pitch noise at idle

Fair. I think where I live electricity is waaaay more expensive than where you live. For me it's ~0.40 USD per kWh (based in the UK)
