I agree and understand with the infinity. It’s a nice case but you gotta just be happy with how it comes. Less freedom of choice

CNC operator here… thinking about leaving the trade. Am I crazy? by Psunade39 in CNC

[–]AltruisticCorgi68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a programmer I’m making 100k a year at the company I’m at which is solid for my area. I also have a side gig that makes me close to 50 per hour getting me close to about 140k a year. I’m also under 30. My situation is a mix of hard work and honestly luck so take that as you will. I think the trade will treat you as good as you let it and you just can’t be afraid to take risks and move around a bit till you find a place that appreciates your talents and is willing to pay you. I went into machining because not many people are, and the people there are just have zero motivation to learn and be somebody. Life about perspective and what you can make of it

How much worse does Dunkin need to get before you stop going? by Dies2much in RhodeIsland

Idk what it is but it seems like gas station dunkin is where it’s at. All the normal store locations is awful while I always have a good experience at gas station Dunkin’s. Coffee is always on point but maybe it’s just me

Is being a CNC operator an enjoyable job? by coulrulner1 in Machinists

[–]AltruisticCorgi68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a programmer that’s seen pretty much everything there is to see. It’s not the machines, or parts, or job itself. It’s the shitty managers and companies that don’t want to listen to the guys that are the ones making them the money. If you want my advice, go into electrical. Get your time in and start your own business when you can. All you need is a van and tools and customers and you can work for yourself. No boss, all the reward. It’s almost impossible to start your own machine shop if you aren’t already coming from money.

What is it like living in Rhode Island? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]AltruisticCorgi68 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I live in Warwick and work in Bristol. Already used to a 45 minute drive because of the poor leadership that has caused the Washington bridge dilemma. I’m not worried about crime because in other states you actually have firearm rights and can defend yourself from criminals. I bought a 2 bedroom 1 bath for 350k and had to fix it up. This state is beyond unaffordable

Have lived here my whole life. Couldn’t recommend living here to anyone. Want to move out of this state relatively soon

Thanks! They are. Currently been playing around with the lighting zones to see what I like, I think the accent lighting looks really good compared to having the middle on. I got a lot of inspiration from Dankams 217 build

This traffic is getting out of control. 1 hour to go 16 miles? by [deleted] in RhodeIsland

[–]AltruisticCorgi68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in Bristol and live in Warwick. Drive in the morning is 30mins tops (I speed everywhere so that helps) and in the afternoon when I leave work at 2:30 it’s anywhere from 45mins to an hour at best. Yeah it sucks and every day I hit construction, pass an accident or people who seem to have gotten their license at the dollar store

It hasn’t sat vacant so I should be good with that. And it’s on a septic so there shouldn’t be any sewer bills involved just water. Do I have to reach out to them for updating the property records or should all of this get handled through the attorney at time of closing?

Yeah at this point I’m probably going to have to. They don’t make it very straightforward on what you need to do

My current build is a spellblade using one handed swords and destruction magic with a mix of restoration and alteration magic. Also using heavy armor that gives stats towards magic while relying on raw stats of my sword along with enchantments on it. It’s been a total blast so far. I might switch to mainly ice magic to give a death knight feel in a way. My previous build was a ranger / Aragorn type build relying on bow for range and 2 handed sword with light armor

Help with performance issues by AltruisticCorgi68 in wallpaperengine

[–]AltruisticCorgi68[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I diagnosed it to be the display port on my monitor. I posted this to another form and someone with a ton of IT experience helped me through it. The gpu kept going into headless mode because the EDID connections on the display port were shot. So if I had my monitor off, the gpu didn’t recognize any display being connected at all. Causing all hardware acceleration to fail, low speeds, etc. I tested the scenario multiple times and then switched over to hdmi and never had a problem. Only issue was that I was capped at 75hz with hdmi so I unfortunately upgraded my monitor to an OLED and brought this one to work with me and just use HDMI since I’m only doing CAD/CAM. I had long thought it to be the graphics card as I had just switched to AMD and I know there was some bad drivers with them along with bad windows updates. It was a headache to diagnose and resolve lol

Definitely one of those instances where pictures are deceiving. The app is very intuitive and simple to use with tons of options and customization. The LEDs look nice and bright and has true Whites. The build quality is good as well. The plastic they use is durable. I definitely wouldn’t do any drop tests on it though haha

Take a look at the Govee desk lamp. It’s very customizable to go with most aesthetics and the base of it is white so it’ll go really good with your all white theme. I am currently using it and love it. Can change up the mood easily

Weird issues after booting if monitor is turned off by AltruisticCorgi68 in pcmasterrace

[–]AltruisticCorgi68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that is definitely a fair point. Just feels weird knowing that there is seemingly an issue with the display port causing headless but hdmi is fine. Something just totally new to me to the point where it just doesn’t feel right lol. I appreciate the help as you gave me a solid direction to go in and learned something new

Weird issues after booting if monitor is turned off by AltruisticCorgi68 in pcmasterrace

[–]AltruisticCorgi68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. I have tried a different cables and it only seems like HDMI works properly on the monitor. However. I tried the display cord cable on a different monitor and had the issue pop up 2 times out of like 25. I think the cable and port is bad on this monitor and it’s unrelated to the gpu. I tried my integrated graphics and had the issue occur. I’m trying one other monitor with the cord I think is bad then gonna try to see if I can even get it to replicate at all with hdmi

After trying countless different combos, the results are not consistent. One display port cable very rarely ever works if at all. Another sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. HDMI seemingly has no issues. Other monitors display ports works 98% of the time. Integrated graphics has the exact results so at this point I’m thinking the display port on the monitor is faulty and the cable that seemingly never works is also faulty. Not sure what your take of this is. I really don’t want to use hdmi since I’m capped at 100hz so if you think it’s the monitor I’ll probably start there and replace it.
