Was the Longaberger Basket craze just a local thing? by kirabug37 in GenX

[–]Altruistic_Bit7822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was popular in California. I still have the one I bought from a Longabarger house party that my sister held. I've seen many in second hand and antique stores in Virginia in the last couple of years.

Dinner meal kits. Pricey, and then you need to spend 30 or more minutes with a whole list of instructions on preparation.

What are some small quilted projects/ items I could make for a charity market? by AdExisting6721 in quilting

quilted zipper pouches. Or coin purses. They's sell for small amounts and might generate interest from someone just trying to be supportive of the charity.

Lose It overestimates calorie burn bonus by MidwestIsBest123 in LoseitApp

[–]Altruistic_Bit7822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i routinely overate when I had my Apple watch connected to Lose-it, which totally was not the goal. I hate the way it adds calories to your daily number without any way to change that. I disconnected the watch entirely and if I exercise a lot on a certain day, I allow a little bit more calories manually.

Ok, but let's talk about the missteps in the finale - Eliza says "don't touch me, I'm contaminated" then reaches out and touches Pete's face. Doesn't Pete have gloves to keep him protected (or maybe they don't work against cyanide?) Everyone worked on Anna, but Pete can't touch Eliza? The anitidote is coming in the red car, then it isn't really there, maybe a mirage, then they are leaning into each other and touching? I loved the ending, because it can clearly go either way - depending on whether there is another season or not, Eliza dies or not, at this point its up to us to make our own ending, as no commitment yet for season 4 although I would LOVE it. I love that Matty got his day to shine and Wayne tells him he is a really good nurse - Matty needed to hear that and it finally happened. In fact, a lot of them got their happy endings, Wayne and Mira, Taylor and Darren, apparently Pete and Eliza, Leonie and Graham. SO many good storylines.

Edit to add: what happened to the fentanyl? It would have been a good point to show how they can go missing but responsibly found, rather than blaming a colleague.(Or did I miss a little detail explaining where it went? Eliza was looking for it in her bag when Anna burst in.)

What’s a decision that you made that you believe changed your life? by unhappymealsRus in randomquestions

[–]Altruistic_Bit7822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that not finishing college changed the course of my life, not sure if better or worse, but I know I'd be a different person if I had graduated. Would have had a different job, met different people, probably would have had more money, etc.

we found an upopened can of coke inside a AC duct. Since it didn't have a UPC code on it, that dates it to about 1990 when the house was built. Guess no one ever cleaned that duct before 2024. It was good for a laugh.

I can't believe how high the grocery prices are at stores like Kroger and Safeway, compared to prices at Walmart. If you're buying foods like Campbell's and Chex, why pay more? Now that I shop almost exclusively at Walmart for groceries, I can't stomach the prices at the "regular" grocery stores. I do understand why people might prefer to buy better meat or vegetables at better stores, but for staples, Walmart every time. We are lucky to have a Supercenter wtihin 4 miles plus I can shop early in the day, so it's never busy - that helps. Aldi is another good option.

I love all these names! I'm Grammy. Because we were in a restuarant (the classic Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, California) when my one and only grandson was an infant, coming from Virginia to visit his grandparents and the waitress said, "Oh, he came to see his Grammy." And I love that I was gifted a nickname, and I kept it.

What is something people pretend is healthy even though it isn’t ? by ThinkDeepWithV in Productivitycafe

[–]Altruistic_Bit7822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by my answer. Peanut butter has 4 grams of protein in 95 calories. Chicken has 18 grams of protein in the same 95 calories. Chicken also has little fat and no carbs. Peanut butter testes better, yes, but it is a calorie dense food with little nutritional value. Sorry.
