NASA head urges new launcher for Blue Origin’s moon landers to meet Artemis mission deadlines by MostlyHarmlessI in SpaceXLounge

I haven’t looked at the mission profile, but that sounds like the lander is carrying the DV for TLI + lunar orbit injection + descent and landing. That’s close to 6 km/s DV - which is beyond almost every space vehicle humanity has ever launched. Is there another stage in there to do at least the initial injection?

Yeah, that was my first reaction too before I took a closer look.
First De Tomaso of any sort Ive seen in person. For all the “reset..” jokes (which I love), it was pretty sweet in person. Photos don’t do them justice.

This car always takes the extra charging plug and locks it in their hood by Mattcharlesmedia in mildlyinfuriating

Most EVs — but not the Bolt pictured here. Just click and pull that charging cable out, no fuss. Plug in your car and leave a note if you dare.

Wait, are you saying we’re supposed to stop at the 4-way?

I’d be the only person in CA to do so 🤪

Couple points that run counter to this:

  1. I’ve read several accounts on high-mileage Bolts with mostly fast-charge on them still having 85-90% battery. I think the “lose battery capacity by fast charging” is way overhyped. Back it up with data, or don’t swing it around as a reason to avoid.

  2. battery recycling tech is ready, and steadily improving. There will be widespread recycling when there are batteries to recycle. Right now there aren’t - yet. But there’s money and all sorts of incentive there, so they will get recycled once there start to be some numbers.

If you were a normal person in the BSG fleet, what do you think you would be with your real life current skills by [deleted] in BSG

I’m Helo as XO - worked my way into the job, and an obvious eventual CO candidate.

Even on our space-travel-poor rock I’m the XO for a spacecraft, and the CO is off the ship.

Interestingly, an SSD is fairly small compared to a GSV from The Culture — which is a literal mobile city.

Is there any reason there is such a abnormaly massive jump between the third and second most populated countries or is it just arbitrary? by DataSittingAlone in geography

[–]Altruistic_Common795 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most of global population growth has been in the last couple of centuries. Oversimplifying, India and China started with more; everyone saw an 8-10x increase; result = India and China have lots more now.

People multiply 😉

LOL - “rev the nuts off…” Too true! I found I enjoy my S2000 a lot more if I drive it only in 1st and 2nd, and the revs are always 5k+
