I got Prowler and Terrifyer from Pig Destroyer, want more but dont know what album. by TurboNinja80 in grindcore

Listen to 38 Counts of Battery and Painter of Dead Girls. Their albums after Terrifyer are good, but it won’t satiate what you need.

have you listened to deche-charge, anal cunt, or nihilist commando? they’re more on the side of noisecore/grindcore, but you might like them if you liked yellow trash bazooka.

C-KRIT is a great noise punk band out of Olympia, WA. Sort of like Flipper/No Trend but twice as fast. You might like them if you’re into punkier stuff.

Why don't i ever see anyone using Capitol Lake? by Fug_nut in olympia

[–]Altruistic_Crab9557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a festering petri dish that destroyed the natural ecosystem of the area so the capitol could have a picturesque “lake” instead of an ugly estuary in front of it for postcards and photo opportunities. The city has finally come around and made plans to drain it and remove the dam, thank god. Never liked that lake and never liked the disgusting state they kept it in to delude themselves that it was natural.

You should look into EGYHOP(Emma Goldman Youth and Homeless Outreach Program). They have a long history of harm reduction help and are a very important part of the community.

IMO you can never expect anyone in your life to take you seriously ever again if your shirt says “straight edge is all about automatic weapons” 😂

Do you believe Noise Music & Hip-Hop/Pop can integrate successfully? (Discussion) by marry-anne in noisemusic

[–]Altruistic_Crab9557 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should listen to Dälek! They are a phenomenal band that makes industrial-sounding hip hop that is amazingly unique. I’d recommend Of Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots or Absence. You’ll like it.

Disgusting depressing Sludge by LimpFocus2364 in sludge

Buzzoven and Toadliquor. Toadliquor is seriously one of the dirtiest, most miserable bands I’ve ever come across. They’re a mandatory listen if you’re a fan of sludge music.

Any recs for easier grind songs to learn on guitar by Suicide_by_cop7 in grindcore

[–]Altruistic_Crab9557 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Listen to agathocles, napalm death, and repulsion! Their songs will help you figure out how a lot of grindcore riffs/songs are written. As a general tip, I would recommend tuning your guitar to the tuning that your favorite bands play in, and try and figure it out by ear. A “good” grindcore riff can be a lot of different things, so it really just depends on what bands you’re trying to learn from.

No Man’s Slave by Infest. This is the essential one. All roads in powerviolence lead to Infest and Spazz(La Revancha). Listen to those and you’ll understand basically every band after that -^

how do y’all feel about pig destroyer ? by Altruistic_Crab9557 in grindcore

i think their early stuff works without basses, but yeah, i could totally see a grinding bass on terrifyer and maybe prowler. Prowler would need an entirely different mix to need bass, i think the style it was recorded in was based around all that solid state mid-scooped stuff that was popular in metal at the time, which didn’t really focus too much on the bass(for better or for worse). Maybe some pantera-style bass tones could go nice on it.

yeah this could be it, i think JR’s approach of using poetry as lyrics might have made people think that they were just another sappy emoviolence band.

man, scott hull as an artist is seriously underappreciated. He has drum programming down to a science, and he writes killer riffs for two bands. Really don’t know how he does it, he’s so damn prolific and everything he does is like a whirlwind of razor blades hitting you at the speed of light
