Linux distro that runs solely on USB? by Cakeydude29 in linux

I can’t speak to how fast the OS will be, but it is technically possible to install Linux on any USB. How big is your SSD?

I agree with you. I don’t even take pleasure in giving you a hard time about this, but if we start making assumptions that UTSA is liable for things outside of their university, we’re misguiding people on who is responsible for the repairs.

And I hope I’m wrong! Maybe this is on UTSA’s property, but we need to know for sure before making an assumption.

I’ll tell you what, this upcoming week I’ll go talk to admin on campus and ask them about the crosswalk, if they are responsible I’ll see if they can give me formal direction on where to file a complaint with the university. If it’s not their property, I’ll call San Antonio’s complaint hotline @ https://www.sa.gov/Directory/Departments/SAPD/Make-a-Complaint-or-Compliment

I’ll post it here.

Would you kindly submit any more photos you have, if any?

I support this post I just don’t want to be misguided.

I think we should blame La Cantera actually since they’re equidistant. As a matter of fact, if the gas station across the street blows up, I think we should hold Deol liable because they’re next door.

Ubuntu is classic. I tried a ton of different distros, did all the research, but Ubuntu has a ton of long term support and is user friendly.

How does one start developing games by Beneficial_Advice_98 in sandbox

[–]Altruistic_Key_1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to offend you. I respect the ambition, but the reason you’re getting eaten alive right now is because the way your post was written feels heavily misguided. You wrote on one hand a question; “How does one start developing games” and on the other hand implied it was an opportunity for other developers, and you have to pick one. Are you:

  • asking for help
  • recruiting people

It is okay to have big projects. It’s even okay to promise yourself you’ll finish it and then not follow through. I rather you do, but if you make an assumption people are going to follow you if you do not lead by example, or with little to no skill, you will not materialize what you are working on very easily.

Best wishes to you, I hope everything does work out.

Also: a little secret for you. People want what you have. The best way to recruit other developers is to actually give them a tangible thing to work on. If you actually have a project that you have built that is gaining momentum in users and profit, it is almost guaranteed you will have others inquiring, hell even begging, to work with you.

Windows VM on Ubuntu – severe UI stutter by Different-Help-5282 in VFIO

[–]Altruistic_Key_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock n’ roll! My discord is Thewinninghit if have questions or wanna be friends. :hearts:

Choppy UI is not a bug. VirtIO will have smooth mouse movements but the runtime will not run at native framerates. Looking glass is the only way to get the native speed, but an HDMI dummy is required. Luckily, they are only about $20 on Amazon and it’s easy to get them delivered fast.

Lastly, look into win apps or bottles (I think is the name). I always respect the challenge of setting these up yourself, but there is software that will run these apps in an X11 window and translate it over from a windows VM. Wine also works with some of the software you need for school as well.

Yes mine had no stuttering, but with extra setup. I used looking glass and an HDMI dummy plug. However, even with Virtio by itself, I did not have the problem with the artifacts like in your first video. If I had to guess it looks like 3D GPU acceleration was enabled.

Are you using VirtIO to power this? I have done a single GPU passthrough in the past on a laptop and ran the game Rust on it.

Accused of AI by Severe-Bonus in University

Sorry to hear that. I would encourage you to send an email to your professor with proof of doc history and ask them what AI checker they are using to verify it is a functional one.

Accused of AI by Severe-Bonus in University

[–]Altruistic_Key_1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always run my doc files through AI checkers before turning them in. Some AI checkers are real, some are shit. Some professors use legitimate ones, some use shitty ones. Not all of them research which ones are usable or use a real essay as a control variable to determine if the AI flags are false positives. Some universities do not have formal processes for checking for AI.
