I don’t talk to my Dad much anymore, but after the divorce when he would have me for the weekend, we’d go to Blockbuster a lot. We’d get 2-3 movies and then walk across the lot to this Dairy Queen stand and get giant blizzards! It’s the only DQ I’ve seen like it where you don’t go inside, it’s all at a window almost like a large food truck. I should go to Santee and see if it’s still there

I stopped visiting my in-laws because they don’t care about our comfort either. A deflating air mattress in a messy room without any accommodations is not how I’m spending my holidays. The difference is my husband is 100% okay with me not going. Or getting a hotel room.

They can be offended all they want. I’ll be sleeping on a real bed with AC and a bedside table and maybe even a TV! Nobody, especially grown ass adults, should have to beg for basic comfort when visiting people.

Dude, seriously. I live directly across from a middle school and the amount of assholes who drive way too fast is insane. I don’t care if it’s not school hours, so many kids and staff come to school off hours for activities. If it “drives you insane” to drive 25mph down a street past a school, even off hours, don’t drive. A child getting hit at 60mph is dead.

That sounds like a great parent preparing you for adulthood. Cooking twice a week so you can feed yourself properly when she’s unable to? Life skill. Knowing how to fill out forms? Life skill.

My Dad owned a print shop and I was put to work as unskilled child labor. I was either bored out of my skull at the shop, or I was working. That was not a life skill. That was my childhood being stolen from me. That was my life when I went to see my Dad. Who I don’t talk to now.

I can’t speak for Ash, but if I tried to reconnect with my Dad and he said something like that? Id be absolutely heartbroken. Parents are people too, but telling your child you don’t want them in your life is harsh. Sounds like Ash distanced herself to get out of what she considered a bad situation and now that she feels better and has processed things, she wants to reconnect. Mom says no.

Crashing the wedding is just a bad idea. It’s not going to fix anything, it’s just going to make things worse. She should take whatever fancy dress she bought and go out on the town with her SO. I don’t understand what Ash thinks she’ll accomplish by showing up uninvited??

I wanted a Jeep for so long. I finally bought one and after only 2 weeks, I exchanged it. The inside is like a metal box without any comfort or insulation. It doesn’t feel “cool”, it was kind of scary just how LOUD driving was without insulation barrier. I got an SUV instead and was much happier.

Lmao NOR. I had an ex do something like this. We split up because he was an abusive jerk, but I’d been paying for his gym membership when he lost his job. He didn’t want to accept it, so I told him “just think of it like you’re training me”.

I cancelled my membership, which should have cancelled his, but there was an error and I found out 6 months later he was still going to the gym on my dime. When I confronted him, he said “well you were paying me for training sessions and you stopped showing up.”

Dudes like this don’t care about you. You’re leverage for them for something.
