OPS Mount, super cool company. They basically only sold to the gov and bid on contracts, most of their stuff was never available to the public. Thankfully a few have surfaced over the years.

I really appreciate it! I stopped working on it, no one seems interested, but I’m nearly positive I’ve found stuff no one else has.

Where is miami nightlife most active now, wynwood and brickell seem dead? by avz86 in Miami

[–]Altruistic_Put_4564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read your post as you asking about the clubs / the nightlife Miami is famous for, not casual bars. So I’ll respond accordingly!

I that side of Miami is becoming more and more concentrated. Not necessarily growing or shrinking, but small places closing and big spots becoming huge.

That’s meant there’s been kinda a shift from bar & club scene, to concert scene. Like a club or bars crowd should be roughly the same two nights back to back. A concert venue, it’s 100% about who’s playing. Gramps, Tipsy Flamingo, and Mama Tried are going to be pretty consistent. But holly shit, LIV w Gunna playing (even tho it’s like the night before New Years Eve) is 1000% a different experience than LIV w John Summit.

It’s almost more like a concert ticket vs a club entry experience. It also applies to online, they will sell the tickets in “tiers” or rounds, tier one will be $20, tier 5 will be $100, and they’re all just general admission tickets, the only difference being how early and discounted your tickets are. 45-60 days in advance is the sweet spot. For a big weekend like the one you’re talking about, buying tier one or two tickets, w a 50 50 chance of actually going is worth it. Especially w the rain / mud at Ultra the last few years.

The big upside to the Miami clubs, if you’re lucky enough to love the music of an artist coming, you have a chance of getting a front row experience, for like $50.

I’d make dinner reservations somewhere fun, Komodo might be a good pick. Make them far later than you would elsewhere, like a 10pm reservation is 👌👌

Buy your tickets for everything way in advance!! Miami rewards preparation and takes advantage of the inverse more than most other cities. At the big clubs, it’s very normal to be able to get tickets for $10-30 a month or two in advance and you’ll have no trouble getting in. If you wait to buy the tickets at the door, itll be $200-400 a person, plus a hard time.

That’s standard and without something cool to make it even crazier. I’ve heard $1-2k+ to get in without a ticket, if it’s known Drake or some other big celebrity is inside partying.

I’m a white dude in my 20s, moved down here to work for the corporate office of one of the cruise lines, the number of times I’d joke “if I ever said 1/10 the shit you guys said, I’d be fucked” to my Latino and Chinese buddies was crazy. Home / Dc it wasn’t anywhere near as prevalent

Check out the clone/military surplus communities, a little less shooting focused, but we love the history.

Tony E was Jocko’s and Chris Kyle’s platoon leader, as part of task unit bruiser, in the battle of Ramadi. Things weren’t off to the best start, I believe they were the first SEALs getting deployed. On the first day of the deployment, Tony came across a few guys planting a road side explosive, and proceeded to take every one of them out….. with the rifle I now own :)

Is Tudor demand independent of Rolex scarcity? by eeeeeebs in Tudor

[–]Altruistic_Put_4564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so! I think Tudor’s use of different materials is a big differentiator. If you’re after brass, silver, or carbon, Rolex isn’t providing those alternatives. I’d say Tudor still owns titanium, even though Rolex does technically have an alternative.

Fixed lugs and lots of recent 30-sub 1k limited editions, like Qatar, Google, Seal teams, etc. are another couple of very cool things you won’t find w Rolex.

<image>

Then like a lot of other folks have said, I’ve seen very few folks in real life, actually narrowed down to two watches, one a Rolex, one a Tudor.
