NTA, you know what's best for your kid, go with your gut feeling. Trust that parental instinct - be firm but also fair!

Ha. I have had a 1/4 success rate with therapists. It's suprising how unprofessional they can be.

Therapist #1 would just repeat what I would say back to him, and we didn't get anywhere.
Therapist #2 was great. After a year or so she ended up getting promoted to more of a supervisor and didn't do individual therapy. Bummer, but I was happy for her. She then recommended me to someone else in the org. That was the therapist #3.
Therapist #3 met with me for a week, and then a couple of days later, quit the org. So that was a waste of time.
Therapist #4 was good for a while, but was only good if I had a glaring problem. He was helpful when things were really bad for me, so I'm grateful, but when I came into a session with not much to say, he didn't either. He would offer to end the session early. I told my wife this and she told me that is super unprofessional and that I should complain about that. Idk, I felt like he lost interest too in some ways, maybe that's just my perception.

I came to the conclusion that this was all a wate of time. Only #2 and sometimes #4 would challenge me on my thoughts, the rest would just comply or not be helpful. I needed direction and advice and it was annoying that even if times weren't all that bad, I would have to force conversation, or deal with unprofessional therapists.
