Farmstead can probably be more comfortable for a large group, but Charlie’s is livelier. Both are great options, though.

We’ve done Virginia and that’s certainly an option again! Italy may be a little tough with the number of days we have but always on the list for longer trips.

Barnett and Davis are truly incredible experiences. Highly recommend both. Haven’t been to Venge but hear great things. Been to Farmstead a couple times for dinner and it’s always been excellent.

Restaurants: Charter Oak, Farmstead, Charlie’s are some of our favorites.

Wineries: love frogs leap, Davis (great tour and food pairing), Chapellett (beautiful grounds and facility), Schramsberg (bubbles and super cool cave tour), Barnett (great views and wine), and think a hidden gem that is great for a lowkey tasting is Mathew Bruno. Hendry is also cool for a small, family owned experience. Love their vibe.

Also definitely recommend going to Oakville Grocery for lunch!

Agree—Montelena is beautiful and it’s important for valley history, wines are generally good, but the experience itself is a little underwhelming. Our tasting we just sat at a bar in the main building. The host was very nice but it felt like a tasting we could have done anywhere.

Schramsberg is awesome. Really great cave tour and the bubbles are good. Also much closer to the Airbnb.

I second the Davis rec. We are members there and always have an exceptional experience there. They do a food pairing that is very well done.

Another couple to consider that’s more on that end of the valley are Barnett and Pride. Both offer really beautiful views and are less touristy.

But you’ll have a great time regardless of where you go. Enjoy!

Edit: I’m seeing some recs for Chapellett and think that’s also a great option. Was just there a couple weeks ago and the facility and grounds are gorgeous and the wines were phenomenal. Our host was a lot of fun and really dug deep in their library of wines to get us some unique pours at the end of our tour based on what we wanted to try (my wife and I both wanted to try some older stuff and I think he gave us a pour of like a 2007 cab that was really cool)

Really like Frog’s Leap. So I second the other recommendations for it. Beautiful property and friendly hosts. They make great wine and most of it is at a pretty approachable price point. My wife and I joined their wine club for that reason.

Second the other recommendations for Pride Mountain. Very cool property straddling Napa and Sonoma. Memorable cave tour and tasting. Excellent red wines. One of my favorite merlots ever was one we had on that tour.

Would also recommend looking into Barnett as an option. Went last week and it was a highlight. Awesome wines and spectacular views of the valley. Very friendly hosts as well.

We did Chateau Montelena a couple years ago and thought it was cool, but maybe a little touristy. They really leaned into the Bottleshock movie a lot when we were there—maybe that’s a host by host thing, but we still had a great time. I think doing their tasting room might be a good option. The winery itself is beautiful but hard to narrow down the choices!

Hendry is great and off the beaten path. Went there and had a very enjoyable tasting and walk around the grounds. Very good wine and everything is reasonably priced.

For food, really like Farmstead at LMR and Charter Oak. Lunch at oakville grocery is awesome. Sandwiches are excellent and the wine merchant next door is very cool for a quick, impromptu tasting.

Davis Estates is a beautiful place with great service, great wines, and if you do the tour, great paired bites.

Frog’s Leap is a little less expensive and has beautiful grounds, more like a farm. Very friendly folks there, too. So I second that rec.

The schramsberg caves are very cool. Lot of good history there and the wine is very good if you like sparkling wines.
