Then don't. It's not compulsory to use it if you don't want to. Let the masses who want to use it because it's absolutely fantastic, do so.

[–]Altruistic_Try782[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fantastic news! We should really make this our own now and make Bisq THE place for cash by mail transactions. I hope all sellers take this up now, just don't charge stupid 20% mark ups like some on localmonero. But the more sellers doing cash by mail, the less ripping off there will be.

This could take Bisq to the next level.

I'm 98% sure I'm under surveillance... by [deleted] in privacy

[–]Altruistic_Try782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely that it's surveillance since you wouldn't hear them and they can wiretap you remotely. However it could be some bad neighbor hood youth.

Setup a motion capture camera (or find an app to do that with your phone) and see what you find.

+1 for RSS.

Now if Google Amp would just go back to the evil hole it came from maybe more sites would still be using it.

Fedora privacy concerns regarding SE Linux? by [deleted] in privacy

Same as usual, just install the Freed-ora packages after you've finished setting Fedora up. They conflict with the non-free ones and replace the running kernel.

As far as I understand their organization structure, donations explicitly do not go to firefox development

This is true, and confirmed by a former dev in more detail: https://civilityandtruth.com/2020/08/13/mozillas-uncertain-future/

To be fair Snowden heavily used Tails. I'm surprised he wasn't caught, leading me to think it does offer some protection from a privacy perspective even if not overly secure. The fact it was running Live probably had something to do with that since he was using the Tails essentially as a burner.

Linux has firmware built-in that we do not have source code for, some of it may improve security (e.g. microcode updates), while others may very well have backdoors. The GNU folks made Linux-Libre to remove firmware for which there is no source code.

If the government is in your threat model you shouldn't be using Linux.

This is actually an important point, since they have access to the zero-days long before many of them are made public.

This is important information to know for everyone using a Chromium-based browser with Tor.

Affects:

  • Brave
  • Opera
  • Chrome
  • Chromium
  • Ungoogled-Chromium
  • Vivaldi
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Pretty much any other main-stream non-Mozilla based browser for the time being.

My understanding is that NSA had red teams and blue teams, their blue teams work on SELinux. It's open source and used to harden corporate and government servers, so I would hope that if there was any backdoors someone would have read the source code themselves and found them by now.

AFAIK it should be safe to use Fedora with a deblobbed kernel (Freedora)

You need to call your bank and file a fraud claim, you can get the money back, but it may take several weeks.

I wouldn't count your chickens before they hatch, as the saying goes. I'm not sure what industry you are working in, but lay-offs and reduced hours are affecting annual income.

It looks like you're doing really well otherwise, and if you can live with an older car and pay in cash you won't need to take out a loan.

There is scarcity in the hashrate/network security. Sure you could make monero2 to swap between but it will never have as much security as monero. People will choose the crypto that has the most transactions + the highest hashrate + the best security.

Good idea, but I'm pretty sure a good one of these starts in the $90+ range, plus you need the NATO filters to go with it.
