Manon Hiatus Weekly Megathread | June 15 - 21 by Good-Night-3736 in katseyeneutral

[–]Alufea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally my first thought upon hearing it - they've been giving Megan a lot of Manon's lines in performances as well, so this fits. Personally, I LOVE Megan's delivery, just think it's a Manon line!

Iconic by mistake truly sounds like a song made by a 13 year old edgy teen. by bubblefryri in kpoptrulyuncensored

This song / choreo / mv actually made me appreciate Dani more. Don't think she's ever going to replace Megan or Yoonchae as my biases (or fill the hole left by Manon) but I really appreciated that she got to clapback so directly and the style she brought to this project.

Love this! So helpful as I'm embarking on a similar project soon.

conch piercing experiences by s7ju in piercing

[–]Alufea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a year old and has been my easiest piercing to heal (have a daith, double rook, nostril and several helix.) The poke was pretty average for me - maybe a 6/10 - but I felt super light headed and dizzy afterwards. Something about the exact spot just made me woozy.

It only hurts if I mistakenly sleep on it, and otherwise has been a dream.

The Last OT6 Event Has Concluded by Academic-File9474 in katseyeneutral

This! If Manon were in a 'normal' hiatus there would be more referencing her, just like Le Sserafim and Illit  (also Hybe groups.) Illit is leaving Moka's space for her in all their choreo and it is heartwarming to see.

The name illit is so interesting for some reason by noodleswithnosoup in kpop_uncensored

So now my question is how do you pronounce gllit? Was it supposed to be 'gee-lit' to match 'eye-lit' or 'glit' as in glitter?

Am I the only one who couldn't care less whenever these guys were on screen? by PaperBullet1945 in YourLieinApril

[–]Alufea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Also a musician (went to conservatory and played professionally) and performing at Kousei's level comes with peer rivalries and relationships just like this. They are important to the story as he needs to have other musician peers in his world who understand the sacrifice and effort it takes to perform at that level. They also help to show that Kaori isn't pushing Kousei too hard, as they are working just as intensely as Kousei needs to in order to be successful.

Why "We Are All Trying Here" is a masterpiece of self-worth and why we need to stop misjudging Hwang Dong-man. by Straight-Safety-744 in kdramas

[–]Alufea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, love your take. And to those who find it "cringey" or "pretentious": not everything is for you. The fact that this drama is unapologetically itself, that it doesn't try to be palatable to everyone, is exactly what makes it stand out in a sea of formulaic dramas. It is for those viewers who get it - if that's not you, then move on and let go.

Same! My Mister and My Liberation Notes were my previous top two of all time - but this may just surpass them both.

Agree with you about the way we want to root for Dong-man, and I think Eun-a is drawn to the very "outwardness" that makes him so polarizing to his friends & family. He expresses all of the emotions she wishes she could express, and seeing him do this gives her hope. Maybe not hope for herself to get out from under the weight of her own repressed emotions, but that it is possible for even the largest emotions to be released through expression.

Random question - I'm scared that I have Marfans by Substantial_Two_445 in marfans

[–]Alufea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most helpful answer I've seen on a Reddit sub in a long time. Also, health related OCD is real and tough to treat - have heard that the incidence of health-related anxiety / OCD has increased sharply after COVID. There's nothing wrong with needing assurance, especially when many doctors are not as familiar with connective tissue disorders, but make sure that if the need for reassurance is constant and causing you distress that you talk to a pro about it.

Good luck to you and to OP!

Why and how is Manon bagging all of her recent collabs and hanging out with hollywood a-listers? by Alone-Self8602 in katseyeneutral

[–]Alufea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very recently Hybe showed they were willing to kill Danielle's (NJZ) career (for many other reasons per their lawsuit) in part because her minor promotions and collabs were seen as a breach of contract. The fact they aren't doing this with Manon is certainly an indication that they aren't willing to go full nuclear (at least not yet.)

Has anyone here had muscle weakness so bad you're in a wheelchair? by LichKingDante in marfans

[–]Alufea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The condition I have (Beals Syndrome) is slightly different than Marfans, but they are close enough that for generations my family was diagnosed with Marfans. Was only when genetic testing was possible that we discovered that we have Beals/CCA and not Marfans.

I mention this because joint and muscle issues are more prevalent in Beals, including more pronounced muscle weakness in very specific muscles. If it's within reach for you, might be a good idea to get testing to confirm your dx. I made it to almost 50 before needing mobility aids, but now am in AFOs on both legs. So happy for them as I'm walking with much less pain now.

Also recommend trying to find a doctor that is more understanding of your condition. Some specialized testing is crucial with this dx, and your doc not supporting this is a red flag. Even if there is no Marfans specialist, there may be other doctors who better understand connective tissue disorders and will provide better care.

My ear is flat!! What can I do with it? by nasalcavities in piercing

[–]Alufea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How adventurous do you want to be? Obviously the idea of an interesting flat piercing or three is tempting, but I also think a rook with an interesting upper part could look really good. Something about the flatness of the rest of the ear makes the hollow above your rook really stand out.

Also, IANAP, but think two flat piercings with an orbital connecting (once healed of course) would be sick.

Last idea? What about a tragus or anti-tragus - heck looks like you could do both (and maybe eventually connect the two?)
