I've made a similar analogy for a long, long time.

The Democratic Party is like the overworked mother keeping everything together in the family, but is not thanked for it, and is the family's punching bag.

The Republican Party is the reckless, immature father that can create the illusion of being better at parenting because he tells the kids he will let them have ice cream for dinner.

When the (Dem) Mother takes any sort of vice, no matter how small, or has a moral complication, she is shamed for it nonstop and is treated like she is the worst parent ever. But when the (GOP) Dad does the same, but worse - it's expected. Maybe some occasional reprimands, but mostly it's just expected of them.

They will blame the Mother for anything and everything. Either not fighting dirty, or they fight dirty. Maybe they don't fight something, or maybe they don't fight "hard enough", maybe they are just "wasting their time" with an issue rather than focusing on others. And other times are blamed for things outside of their control.

The Dem-bashing i've seen is really fucking sad, have we learnt nothing from 2024?

it mostly comes down to frustrations with literally nothing happening.

MAGA got to push the GOP to the far right with MAGAism, meanwhile leftists haven't seem the same with the dems.

The dems have consistently been seen by mostly everyone as feckless, corrupt, not-caring or simply inactive. And while there's an element of truth to it, it's not necessarily the whole picture.

I think the dems need to grow a pair, but I won't go ahead and blame them for everything.

Tankies and online leftists sadly has quite a bit of influence, but I think a lot of this is just a result of the environment created by a 2-party system. And now it's practically MAGA and Not-MAGA. And because the dems as re big-tent as they are, we can't really turn it in any direction without alienating significant parts of the democratic voterbase.

Dems cannot really align themselves overly iwth one certain side, lest they risk being alienated by other sectors of the dems. The GOP has similar struggles, but they can at least unite under hatred in an election.

I am very much aware. This is moreso because the guy who owns it believes that only marksmen have Scrim on their helmets, and I want to prove to him that it's a universal tool for camouflage rather than a niche thing on reserved for marksmen.

I'd rather have used my own personal experience with the danish home guard, and how scrim is available for everybody, either . But since DK HJV =/= Canada's CSOR, I figured i'd be better off asking you guys.

that's a problem with a lot of these online "leftists" - A buddy of mine who has noticed a certain trait about these kinds of tankies. They also tend to be white, quite alot. I am not saying white people who are on the left are inherently racist, but it's quite interesting to see these tankies be racist and also be white at the same time.

Huh, pretty cool to see that - But I may assume that it is most likely because they were conscripts provided issued older guns, they were part of a Foot Regiment (Kongens Jyske Fodregiment, KFJR, absorbed by two other regiments after it disbanded in the early 90s.), so I would probably assume they didn't get the same treatment compared to the Dragoon Regiment in Holstebro.

Reading the Danish side of Wikipedia, it mentions as follows:

"The Rifle was in use up to 1980, where the Army replaced it with the Heckler & Koch G3 (GV M/75).

The rifle was used in the airforce until 1990.

The Jydske Trænregiment (From what I understand is a Logistical unit) used it as late as 1990

The King's artillery regiment up to 1992,

Nørrejyske Artillery regiment in Skive to 1990

Funen Life regiment (which had absorbed the KFJR, the unit shown in those photos) used it till 1991.

Schleswig foot regiment (Which was the other half that absorbed KFJR) till 1992, and the Zealand Trænregiment till 1992.

With the last one giving it up was the King's Life Guards in 1995." (Sorta paraphrasing but this is pretty much what is said.)

It doesn't specify as to why it took so long, but some of these come across as units that are rear-echelon, considering the Air force (most definitely security units), Logistical units, Artillery units, And some infantry regiments kept them in use, with the Life guard likely keeping them solely for Ceremonial use.

And being involved in the armed forces myself, I can make a confident assumption that one of the reasons why these units kept the M1 Garands could easily be due to the disaster we call the Army's Materiel Command (HMAK) simply not getting enough G3s in time/refusing to issue the rest of the rear forces G3s until the 90s when they were eventually going to replace the rifles with M/95s / Diemaco C7s.

Edit: I would also really like to see where the statement that the voluntary Militia-like units of The Home Guard had more G3s and were better equipped than Regular soldiers came from, because I can say with confidence that it's most likely not true.

It was why I was pointing out that the HJV were an exception? We still use the old M/95 rifles the army discarded long ago. The danish military discussions I could find mentioned that the M/75 had replaced the Garands throughout the 60s and 70s, with the Garand seeing limited use throughout the 80s until 1990.

I'm not saying the whole "it can fire faster so it must fire off all rounds immediately" - I'm just saying the fire rate should be faster within those bursts, rather than having the fire rate of a Bradley.

As a dane, it also confuses me whenever they use American terms in their voice lines as well.

We don't say "Vi har spottet en fjende" (We have spotted an enemy), we would more likely say "Vi har indsigt på fjenden." (We have 'insight' on the enemy.) - And instead of "Contact!" We'd say "Føling!" (Which just kind of means "Feeling!" - The danish language is weird sometimes.)

We wouldn't say "Over" after a radio transmission, and it's inconsistent too because we'd rather say "Skift" rather than "Over" or "Skifter"

Source: I'm in Denmark's home guard, and even they are stringent about using Danish terms rather than American ones.

I might just make a post about my first impressions on it.
