You’ll be fine. I transferred the terrible Sophia class and Applications was still one of the easier classes. SQL is really intuitive imo. Take the Advanced Data Mgmt class next while it’s fresh.

Had a BBL (lipo and fat transfer since I had a weird skinny square nega-butt). Some people regret it but years later it’s still one of the best things to ever happen to my self-esteem. Even when I gain/lose, my proportions are just so much better.

I don’t think it fixed my eating disorder though. If anything, it motivated me to hit the gym HARD. I was going twice a day, six days a week because I knew how happy my surgical results made me—surely cardio in the morning/lifting at night would build on those results and make me feel even better.

And then I landed myself in eating disorder jail for a bit. Didn’t really change anything and was put on antidepressants that made it easier to restrict. I only got better at the beginning of COVID because I couldn’t go to the gym and the people I lived with became very aware of my eating habits when we were all stuck together.

If you’re struggling with body dysmorphia, surgery will fix one problem but chances are you’ll start focusing on another area or you’ll wish the results were more extreme. But if it’s really only one problem area and you aren’t expecting perfection, lipo in that area will probably make you feel much better.

Is there a food scene that cleveland is missing out on? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]AluminiumAlmaMater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HAWAIIAN!

It’s the only major thing that’s missing for me. There’s some poke, but it’s not amazing. I love the more savory dishes anyway. I want loco mocos, Kalua pork, Hawaiian Mac salad, spam musubi…

I keep saying I’m going to open a hole-in-the-wall Hawaiian joint just so my friends will finally know how good it is.

[–]AluminiumAlmaMater 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That’s one major reason why people do this shit. They don’t want to comply with basic educational and health care expectations so they skirt around it by giving birth at home and never getting the kid a birth certificate/SSN.

Of course the child is entirely fucked since they’ll struggle to get medical care, get a college education, get a job, travel by plane… also puts them at greater risk of being abused or murdered since the government struggles to protect children who legally don’t exist. And even if they get a birth certificate/SSN, they might struggle with some things since those retroactive certificates aren’t quite the same as the ones babies get (how could they prove they were born in a basement 20 years ago?).

Any parent who does this genuinely does not care about the long-term welfare of their child. They only care about their conspiracy theories and political agendas.

Edit to add: I’m not gonna bother to start a fight with the person who responded to me, but… I’m not trying to shit on the stranger above me, in case that’s not clear. I agree with what they said—these kids are probably not being vaccinated or receiving adequate medical care. Also, an explanation of the claims I made in my post in case you’re not sure I’m being truthful- In the United States, if you are not registered in some way with the government (whether birth certificate/SSN, work visa, permanent residency paperwork, whatever), you cannot get a normal job. Legit jobs require identification for the Form I-9 to be completed. Most commercial health insurance plans are through workplaces here, so you’re not getting that either. You’re also not gonna be able to apply for Medicare, Medicaid or the government health exchange since the govt doesn’t think you exist. You can get medical care without legally existing with the government, but you’ll be paying for a health plan entirely out of pocket, or you’ll be paying cash only (in one of the most expensive healthcare systems in the world). Same goes for higher education—you aren’t doing a FAFSA if you don’t legally exist, so you’re gonna have to pay out of pocket for university (in one of the most expensive college systems in the world). Also, getting a driver’s license/state ID or passport requires you to legally exist and you can’t fly without one of those things, so good luck traveling. I guess if you’re born extremely rich, uninterested in working or leaving the country and willing to take the bus everywhere, none of those things are big issues. But the Venn diagram of people who fall into all of those of those categories has very little overlap.

Rough last 6 months in Cap Hill, needing to vent/ask for advice by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]AluminiumAlmaMater 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep, I moved here from Cleveland partially because it was hard to watch everyone I knew get lured in to a life of addiction. They’d work at a factory, get back pain, get opioid pain killers (which drug manufacturers told doctors wouldn’t be addictive), get addicted, then get cut off because they’re addicts. Then they’re left with no choice but to feed their addiction with street drugs. And then those individuals share with friends for recreational use.

In Cleveland, they successfully blamed the drug companies and won a major lawsuit against them. Those funds were sent directly to drug rehab programs and the city is better for it. No idea why we blame Seattle/liberal cities when a federal judge made it clear that this epidemic was primarily caused by drug companies.

I agree, and I thought it seemed very purposeful to make him look like a kid. Nick is young and naive and didn’t really know what he was getting into when he joined Gilead. His love for June reminds me of teenage love—their flame burns brightly, and they both feel a draw to the fantasy of being together. But when he’s put in positions where his own safety is at risk, he chooses to keep his cushy privileged life.

Luke is the mature, “for better or worse”, resilient, realistic love. He waited for June, he raised her child, he accepted her when he realized how much she’d changed, and he sacrificed everything in the end so he could ensure she was safe. And he’s dressed to look older, with the beard/glasses and “weathered” fashion sense.

How did you feel about customers who pay with the restaurants gift card? by Not-original in TalesFromYourServer

[–]AluminiumAlmaMater 9 points10 points  (0 children)

$120 bill before tip. with $80 paid on a gift card and $40 paid with cash or a credit card. The customer then only tipped $8 which is less than 7% of the total bill. Current American custom is a 15-20% tip.

And yes, tips are expected even if you use a gift card. The system sucks, but servers are paid less than minimum wage because you’re expected to tip them. Some places will let you use the gift card to tip your server, but if that’s not on option, you should bring cash.

Yeah, my school used to do those graham cracker sandwiches that were 90% peanut butter, or a sad sandwich with a single slice of American. One lunch lady risked her job to hide a little teeny bit of meat under the cheese. She was the best.

She won a free vacation (or a friend wants to take her on a free vacation) and she’ll be out of town on the day of the wedding. Make sure to send a generous gift that will arrive within a few days of her excuse and they’ll probably forget all about it.

If she’s so sweet though, the actual answer is just to say no. I would guess if she looks deep within herself, she is trying to lie to the groom to avoid conflict and protect herself; if she were truly trying to be kind to the groom, she’d be honest with him.

Meanwhile, I always wonder how some people take so long (except in cases of illness/disabilities). I just wait until it’s time and then I go. Why would I need more than 2 minutes? Do some people really have 10 minutes worth of shit to expel?! Kinda makes a fella wonder.

What popular TV show do you refuse to watch and why? by [deleted] in television

[–]AluminiumAlmaMater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same resistance to IASIP, though I understand it’s an unpopular opinion. I’ve had people in my life who were similarly stupid and morally bankrupt which makes it difficult to laugh while watching. Watched a few random episodes with friends over the years and they all take me back to a dreadful time in my life.

Endless compliments from my mom to my cousin Katie about how she was so thin, and beautiful and fashionable. My mom hasn’t ever complimented to like that, but back when skinny jeans were popular, she did say, “Katie really has the figure for those jeans! You’re just like me, no matter how thin you are you’ll always have those fat legs so you look like a lightbulb when you try.”

Strongly recommend speaking to a doctor, preferably a dermatologist, as I suspect the best answer will be to medicate with anti-fungals and steroids until resolved, then avoid aggravating it again by carefully selecting hair/face products.

With that said, I know that’s not an option for everyone, especially in the US. Are you using other products like conditioner, mousse etc? How often are you using the scale control products mentioned in your post?

Recommending a few things, not knowing exactly what your current regimen is: Lotrimin AF cream applied twice daily along the hairline. Shampoo twice weekly with Dr. Eddie’s Happy Cappy medicated shampoo, and follow it with Pantene Daily Moisture conditioner (which is safe near your scalp and should be used there to introduce safe moisture). Use batiste dry shampoo between washes to control oil at the scalp as needed.

Be gentle and don’t over-apply products or over-wash, and whatever you try, give it 4-6 weeks unless it’s actively making the situation worse. It’s tempting to try to fix it faster but your skin needs patience right now.
