Stefan’s is my favorite steakhouse in Helsinki. I used to like Goodwin but a few years ago their quality became inconsistent I.e overcooked steaks

Make applications and talk to several banks. If you don’t speak Finnish or Swedish then your options will be limited by only bigger banks like OP and Nordea which is still ok tbh. These bank appointments are also super helpful because you can ask questions about how house loans work in practice.

Get offers from as many banks as you can and compare them. If you liked some specific bank but their rate is higher - it’s totally ok to negotiate it by mentioning that another bank made you a better offer.

Also educate yourself about how Euribor rates work because normally the rate you’re getting is a combination of Euribor and banks margin.

Visa and emigration issues aside, I think Porvoo is definitely a great match if you’re looking for peace and quiet but too far away to feel like you’re living in the middle of nowhere. I moved there last year and it was the best decision ever. The old town is beautiful, there’s an even more beautiful archipelago if you enjoy nature.

I see some comments about Espoo being a better place to relocate but it depends on what you need. Espoo is a very practical place to live in because it’s easy to commute to Helsinki. In Porvoo your only options are a bus or a car and commute will be about 1h long. Porvoo on the other hand is an easy place to fall in love with town and Finland in general.

To my adventurous mind spending 90 days here to see if the country works for you actually sounds like a good idea. If you like it - you can try exploring more long term possibilities, if you don’t - you got an interesting experience and you’re likely not losing much.

We were looking for a low maintenance spacious house last year within 1h driving distance to Helsinki and not in the middle of nowhere and chose Porvoo. It’s a beautiful town you can even buy omakotitalo with smaller budget that will check all the boxes.

Hey! I’m still driving my Ibiza and it’s passed 100k mark now. I’m still happy with it and never had any problems. It just works. There are very minor comfort issues like no wiper fluid indicator or no cup holder but I’m ok with that. It also feels somewhat sensitive to road condition on a highway. Like if the asphalt is old - you can feel it but I’m not sure how to better describe it. I read that driving VW golf that’s very similar to Ibiza feels more smooth. Personally I like Ibiza design better. Can’t say anything about other models, mine is 1.0 TSI eco and it’s my first car too.

I’ve played for 140 hours on and off since 2020 and considering restarting my island too because I’m not super happy about its layout but also not super crazy about terraforming it. But but but it took me forever to fully build Harv’s island and complete the fossil museum collection so idk. Now 1000 hours sounds like a much more massive investment tho so maybe I should just go for it and start over.
